    Brilliant!

Awesome single player. Awesome online multiplayer. You need Turok! I was shocked at the production value, the polish, the famous name actors, the presentation, and the online multiplayer mode! Have not had this much fun in ages. Now, where’s Turok 2?5 stars!

Nothing groundbreaking but worth a shot.

Turok is somewhat your run of the mill shooter it features no real new things done by first person shooters.Yes, there are new features we are not accustomed to but its nothing you should go out of your way to pick up.I purchased the game when it was $35 which is a reasonable price for this game.Much beyond that range though is a little steep for this game. The graphics are above average but its nothing to hold your grasp for too long though.Outside of the bow and the knife the weapons just seem watered down, there really weak and have no real function other than to stave you off until you can get some more arrows or in tight enough to use the knife. The multiplayer is also a very weak point its nothing worth righting home about. Its real laggy and relies more on luck than that persons true skill.Overall this is a good title for $25-35 but much beyond that range is a little high.If you were a huge fan of the original like I am then you should definately check out Turok.Final scoregraphics 8.0sound 8.5story(non-existant) 6.5legnth 10 hours 8.0multiplayer 7.0overall 7.5

    Checkpoints RUIN it!

Okay…. Just the fact the checkpoints are milesssss away from each other makes it not worthy of anyone’s time unless of course your an immortal and can spend til the end of days conquering this game. The aiming is quite terrible also, the enemy always seems to anticipate your bullets! Last I checked I had bought TUROK not MATRIX! terrible, one the last note the allies you have are extremely unreliable and will leave you cursing through the whole thing, because they either fall down, Don’t help, or stay right out in the open during a firefight.Sincerely,Not satisfied gamer.p.s. you can kill something with a knife way more then 2 or 3 ways you know?!?. Who the hell taught you how to use a knife Turok?!

    almost a classic…. almost

Lets get one thing straight, nobody plays Turok Dinosaur Hunter games for any real reason other than just up and slaying dinoaurs… and this gameabsolutely delivers in bloody glory. The game is tons of fun to play but there’s a few game play snags here and there that kinda leave you pissed off at the game and developers for not ironing them out…. then you get rolling and the game becomes fun again. Absolutely a thumbs up and I’d probably rate it an 88%

    Much better than I expected

Being a big fan of the original two Turok games for N64, I originally had high hopes for this. The developers had said that they understood what made the original games unique, and that they planned on staying true to the roots of the series. Of course, after I saw the initial reviews and watched some videos of the game in action, I was a little let down, and for whatever reason, ultimately ended up not purchasing the game.Fast forward over two years later, I saw the game selling for very cheap. It was an impulse purchase, but one I don’t regret in the slightest.Turok for Xbox 360 is very atmospheric, and in fact, does do a good job of staying true to the Turok name. The variety of locations ensures that you’ll never have to get bored of looking at the same area over and over. From dark and cramped caves, to bright green jungles, to a run-down enemy complex. While these sound like somewhat generic locales, the attention to detail really makes them feel real.Enemy AI is for the most part very good. They’ll flank you and team up together, ensuring a decent challenge. Dinosaur AI can be a bit hit or miss, but the main goal of this enemy type is mostly just to overwhelm you in close quarters.Unique gameplay mechanics include stealth kills with your bow and knife, and baiting dinos to attack enemy soldiers. Neither works perfectly, but you can still use these gameplay elements to your advantage. There’s nothing more satisfying than taking out an entire room of guards silently with your bow.The exploration element of past games is not as prevalent, as the levels are fairly straightforward, however there is still plenty of room for improvisation within each area. It’s obvious that the developers wanted to provide as many opportunities as possible for players to approach a situation. The cutscenes and story, while not amazing, got the job done, and were of high-quality.The only negative aspect would have to be the variety in weapons. Past games in the series had some of the craziest contraptions ever for players to use in the destruction of opponents….of course the infamous cerebral bore from Turok 2 is the first one to come to mind. Other than the bow and surprisingly effective knife, I mostly used the same basic plasma rifle throughout 80% of the campaign. None of the weapons stand out….just the usual sniper rifle, sub-machine gun, pistol, etc.I had a blast with this game, as there is never a dull moment. It is a short action packed adventure, full of explosive set-pieces that are sure to impress. Four stars.

Sadly not the game I expected

I play Shooters religiously, Rainbow 6 Vegas, COD 4, Gears of War are arguably some of the best shooters around. And yes, Halo 3 was good as well. I remember seeing the Turok game for the first time many years ago and being captured by the overall gameplay and of course the weapons. But this time around it doesn’t live up to the hype. The graphics are not what you would expect for a next generation game, no where near COD4. Also, any game that doesn’t offer a full Co-op story mode gets a negative notch from me. If Halo is one of the biggest selling shooters of all time, everyone should use the features they offer as the blueprint to build on, like full co-op story mode. Sadly I’ll be taking this game back and will buy Army of Two instead.

Always offer an embedded multi player!!! Unlike Turok.

My young son couldn’t wait to continue our tradition of Turok starting back with the great Nintendo 64 titles, so imagine my chagrin when I immediately found that the only multi-player choice for this game was xbox LIVE. Give us a break guys. Always offer a multi-player choice…always.

    Great title

The game was a lot of fun in multiplayer, although the melee attack was only effective when the ‘icon’ appeared to use it. If you miss, then you’re left very vulnerable while you watch your arm do a slow downward stab. The A.I. is just that, and very effective. I would find myself reloading checkpoints just to see what different reactions dinosaurs and humans had to each other, what I did, and the environment. If you go through and end up dying and restarting your checkpoint, don’t expect the exact same scenario. Sure, some of the guys will go to the same place they wee before, but some will be in a different place and react in a new way.The length of the game was average, and whatever difficulty you play it on it will always challenge you.I did not like the acheivments in the game. They are great, don’t get my wrong, but I am ig on getting the acheivements in the game. It’s like an added bonus to the game that microsoft has put onto the xbox. However, I am at a place where playing online gives me a 1-3 second delay, and it is nearly impossible to kill anyone. That said, most of the acheivements are online multiplayer ones, and how am I supposed to get them if it won’t even let me into the game because my connection is so horrible? This was my biggest heartbreaker. My other big heartbreaker is again with the online play. Since I couldn’t play online some friends and I tried to get a game going through a local network, and this couldn’t happen either. There had to be that connection with exbox live to eve play multiplayer. Why can’t more games look to Halo for the multiplayer style? It’s easy and great. We can play Halo until our hearts content.Other than that, it is a fun game with a decent story line and some really cool weapons. And it wouldn’t be Turok if you didn’t have a bow and arrow. I found myself spending hours just pinning people to walls, I would have to say that is my addiction in the game. That’s why I would have to give this game four arrows out of five.
