The story was cool and fun as a warhammer reader. It would have gotten 5 stars from me if it was a little less linear, and hsd a little bit more customization. The online play is less exiting as there is little to no strategy just kill away and be killed until you can level up and hopefully kill more and die less.

Loved this game. Pretty standard shoot-em-up fare, but true to the warhammer 40k universe. Took the time to admire the background art and subtle touches on the second play through. Hours of fun and plenty of gruesome hand to hand kills!

I recently downloaded this game, as it was offered for free to PS+ members, and I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun it was (I wasn’t expecting too much, based on its seemingly goofy title). I have never heard of the Warhammer universe, so its setting is very novel to me- this is a sci-fi, intergalactic romp. But what makes it odd is that your enemies consist of an orc horde, summoning fantasy worlds to mind, particularly The Lord of the Rings. Where this game really shines is in the fun of pure, melee combat- cutting loose against the vast quantities of orcs that are bent upon your destruction. This reminded me strongly of “The Return of the King” for Xbox and PS2, a game that I loved and played several times through.Developer THQ did a great job with nailing the camera and character movement, creating a tight experience. Combat against your orc foes (the bulk of the game) is fast, visceral, and fun, with a well balanced mix of melee and ranged weapons. It must also be mentioned that the intro/tutorial/first level is masterfully executed, as you drop into the midst of a battle upon a ship.A cover system (I can’t believe that’s missing) and some sort of leveling process would have been welcome additions. The graphics aren’t quite up to snuff with the indsutry’s darlings of 3rd person games (Uncharted and Gears), but they are very competent, particularly with regard to how many enemies converge on the screen at one time. All in all, this is a fun, easy to pick up game.

I bought Spacemarine and Bulletstorm and like both games very much. Both games have good graphics and the action holds you to your seat. The price for each game was fair and i’m happy with my purchase. Good bloody fun. Ha Ha.

Space Marine is an excellent game in terms of game mechanics, plot and graphics. Though at points the game does feels a little unfinished.Space Marine uses a unique combination of third person shooter elements combined with an intuitive melee combat system. This mechanic works seamlessly and cannot be overrated. Moving from ranged combat to close combat works better than I have seen in any game I have ever played. Though the game certainly rewards you for getting up close and personal, ranged combat is also highly effective and never feels like an afterthought. Where things still appears a little rough is in terms of the variety of maneuvers. The combat animations, though very cool, do tend to get slightly repetitive. Also, if the attacks had been designed to take more account of the surrounding environment it may have felt a little more interesting. Though I wouldn’t advocate for an overly complicated combo system, I think it is possible to add a bit more variety to the melee without overburdening the current system. The graphics, plot, voice acting, and music are all fantastic. It was especially fun listening to the British Orks, which are such a huge part of the 40K cannon and my personal favorite army. For fans of the table top game I don’t think that this game will disappoint in terms of how it brings the 40k world to life. Though I think I did hear one person complain that the Ork blood wasn’t green, I don’t think most people will have any trouble overlooking.

I’m a huge warhammer 40k fan, I try to get together with my buddies and play a few games and drink a few beers at least a couple of times a month…… This game hits a sweet spot with me actually getting to see the damage you cause being a space marine in the warhammer 40k world. But if your not a warhammer tabletop player, or even of the RTS computer games they have out (also amazing games) don’t fear. You don’t need to know anything about the world to enjoy this game!!! Space Marine reminds me a lot of Gears of War, its a third person shooter, your extremely powerful, and you get to destroy a lot of enemies! Throw in futuristic weapons, decent voice acting, and a solid game layout and you have yourself quite an enjoyable game. It doesn’t try to be something its not, there is no sudden puzzle’s or tricks to figure out in the middle of the game, it is straight forward push up and destroy everything in your way for the Imperium! Amazing game!
