I am going to review this from a developer point-of-view, instead of from user point-of-view like everybody else. I believe there is enough reviews out there from user point-of-view. Here is a fresh perspective from a self-proclaimed hacker/maker/game designer. As far as the platform is concerned, you can make games with it. However, it is NOT a programming/scripting language. More to be precise, it is event-based, object-oriented, description language. What does that mean?Event-based means that the program capture and responds to events, such as tapping, timer, object collisions, and so on. This is called the “trigger”.Object oriented means that the program is composed of different objects (called “actor”) with corresponding behavior programmed in. Also states, flag, or “switch”.Description language means that you do not provide an algorithm or a step-by-step instructions, but rather you provide explanations of how an object is supposed to be present in the environment, and react to it. This is the “action-instruction” both the initial object placement, and the subsequent description of how to behave regarding various triggers/events.The designers have selected a very clever set of instructions. These aren’t the traditional game development algorithm set, but they do provide most of the capabilities desired. There are some instructions missing. Namely “Tap Screen” can use area parameter, and “Switch object” can use “Switch OTHER object”. You can do a work-around the limitatio.

It arrived early. It was exactly like it was described when it arrived. My son loves it and can’t stop playing the game.

    So fun(:

This game is great! It teaches you how to make video games. It gives away all the secrets! It was pretty easy for me to make my first game on here. And to those who say this isn’t a game, it already has a bunch of games on it, but you have to make your own to get the most out of it. I recommend it, and get it while it’s cheap!

My son had been wanting this game for a while. He saved up his money, and bought it himself. He has a blast with it! His favorite part of the game is making up his own music for the micro games.

I’ve played all of the previous WarioWare games on the various Nintendo consoles and handhelds, so knew what to expect here. D.I.Y. is as insane and frantic as ever only this time you get to create your own games. At first the D.I.Y. modes can be a little hard to get into as what is available to you to be able to create your games is quite limited, but as you progress you get better tools, more options etc that lead to some pretty fun game designs. You can also make your own 4-frame comics and mix some of your own tunes. This is fun but not very long lasting. The mini game creation however is brilliant once you get the hang of it.If you’ve not played a WarioWare game before, I warn you that these 90 pre-loaded “games” are not games as such – they are in a series of (very) mini-games where you must do what is instructed correctly as fast as you can to move on to the next stage. It is very basic but so addictive, trying to beat your previous highest score. It doesn’t have as much content as the previous games in series with regards to the games readily available, but it is very rewarding and pretty massive once you have created some of your own games. I definitely recommend this to anyone – 3 seconds have never so fun!

Got this as a Christmas present for my 12yr old son. He hasn’t put it down and has declared it his new favorite game. It’s not like a regular game and involves my creative thought.

I first wanted this game because it allowed you to create your own games, and I always loved games which challenged my creativity. I am quite satisfied with this game overall; I love how you can make your own games, records and 4-panel comics. I also feel that the more I play this game, the more I seem to understand how real video games work. However, I was disappointed to see that you can only make games where you have to tap with the stylus. There’s no using the buttons, no additional actions with the stylus and no using the microphone. Also, I found most of the individual 90 pre-made microgames to be kind of dull. But if you’re serious about creating and using your mind, then this the game for you. If not, you should search elsewhere for a DS game you WOULD like…

My child really likes the built in games (he is 4 years old). When he gets a little older, I hope to show how he can design his own mini games. I would recommend this game to others.
