STRONG SPECIFICATIONS
Running on strong, custom-made hardware containing a CPU running at 1.24 GHz, a GPU clocked at 550 MHz and 2GB of RAM, the Wii U is the first Nintendo console to support HD graphics. The system features low-latency in transmitting data to the gamepad thanks to a special type of Wi-Fi it uses to connect to the device.
OFF-TV PLAY
Using the Wii U controller’s built-in screen, you can now play video games without using the TV, at a distance of up to 10 meters! As long as you have the Wii U on, you can pretty much play off-tv in any room of your house.

I bought this console used, and wasn’t expecting much the whole thing was scratched up badly, difnt come with nintendo land but it works perfectly and i love it. I am a bit mad about the not getting nintendo land but I’ve alreafy bought some games, also would recommend getting Breath Of The Wild on the Wii U unless you have it on your switch.

We love the WII U. We actually brought this system because we have 8 grandchildren and wanted something for when they were with us. Was kind of disappointed to learn we still couldn’t watch DVD’s on it, who doesn’t want to narrow down their equipment, but love that you can watch TV while the children play on the smaller screen. Same with Netflix, etc I can watch a movie on the smaller screen while my husband snores away. It’s actually a nice sized screen. The games seem to take a bit of time to load when loading them for the first time but the graphics and game play for the games we’ve chosen have made it worthwhile. I mostly used the WII for exercise, but my grandson and I are now pro’s at Nintendo Land, because we say so. I’ve enjoyed playing all the games on this system and look forward to playing more. :)

This Nintendo product has been great. All of our nintendo brand equipment has been exceptional, the off-brand stuff that we bought has all the problems that we have encountered.

A great game system. I had originally tried the PS4 but it wasn’t for me so I returned that and got the wi u system. This is exactly what I was looking for. There are more interactive games than on the Ps4 — has sports games, exercise games, etc.

Everybody knows the Wii – it’s become an almost iconic console for Nintendo. The Wii U had a lot to conquer over it’s predecessor. And in some ways, it did well. In others, not so well. The hardware itself is mostly self explanatory. The console itself is nothing that huge of a difference, it’s basically the exact same looking as the Wii (without the Gamecube ports, sad face) and with better internals. It makes pretty good use of it’s HDMI port, and even allows the use of the ports that Gamecube/Wii uses (I forget the name of the cable, it has 3 colored connectors for yellow, red, and white). The gamepad is probably the best part of the Wii U entirely. I was extremely skeptical of it at first, but the Wii U would be absolutely nowhere without this wonderful thing. The gamepad is a tablet-like device, made of plastic (same material as the console) but not the cheap kind, and it has buttons to use it as a large controller. However, it’s much more than an oversized controller and an extra screen. If you didn’t get the memo by now, it’s screen is a touch screen, and includes a 3DS stylus (which is convenient so that you don’t have to have/buy 50 different kinds of styluses for your Nintendo devices). You can also set up the gamepad to act as a (simple) TV remote. Although I haven’t been able to connect it to my cable box (so I cant change channels, no biggie), I have managed to connect mine to my TV itself, and it’s pretty nifty. With the remote function, you can change channels, change the volume, scroll through your input menu, and power on/off the TV itself. It’s pretty nifty when you’re using the next function that I’m about to describe. Lastly, the gamepad also can be used as a sensor bar and an HD MONITOR, much better than simple 3DS graphics, the same graphics that your TV can handle at a lower resolution. I’ll get more into this when I discuss the Wii compatibility mode. Lastly, the deluxe version comes with a charging cradle for the gamepad (which is worth it),.

I bought this Wii U used from a 3rd party shop here on retrolio. There were cosmetic scratches on the console, but the gamepad was flawless. The console works great and I saved a lot of money buying used. The Wii U is not being made anymore, so they go up in value for collectors. The console itself doesn’t have the best graphics or the most comfortable/intuitive controller, but the games are some of the best in the industry. Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles X, downloadable virtual console games from NES, Super Nintendo, N64, GameCube, DS, and the ability to play any Wii game? It’s a great collection of titles for one console. The gamepad even has a headphone jack so you can play quietly while your significant-other sleeps. It’s hard to go back to 720p graphics running at 20 frames per second (Breath of the Wild) after playing my PS4 Pro at 4K and 30+ frames per second, but the games are so much fun to play, you put up with the single drawback of the system.Overall, I highly recommend the Wii U to anyone who missed the games, especially if you want to play the old virtual console games. Save states functionality is included, so it’s the best way to play these classics!
