NINTENDO WII U – FEATURES

Once again, Nintendo brought a new way to play with the Wii U, with its innovative GamePad. Its integrated touchscreen adds a new layer of immersion, as apart from remote play, it will also be displaying maps and inventories in your favorite games.

STRONG SPECIFICATIONS

Running on strong, custom-made hardware containing a CPU running at 1.24 GHz, a GPU clocked at 550 MHz and 2GB of RAM, the Wii U is the first Nintendo console to support HD graphics. The system features low-latency in transmitting data to the gamepad thanks to a special type of Wi-Fi it uses to connect to the device.

OFF-TV PLAY

Using the Wii U controller’s built-in screen, you can now play video games without using the TV, at a distance of up to 10 meters! As long as you have the Wii U on, you can pretty much play off-tv in any room of your house.

NINTENDO WII U – THE GAMES

With over 700 games in its library, full backwards compatibility with Wii games and virtual consoles for the NES, SNES, GBA, N64 and DS, the Wii U will provide you with countless hours of entertainment, be it through its main titles, or by taking you back to retro gaming.

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: THE WIND WAKER

Part of the beloved Legend of Zelda series, The Wind Walker is set on a group of islands in a vast sea. The player controls series protagonist Link as he attempts to save his sister from the sorcerer Ganon and becomes embroiled in a struggle for the Triforce, a sacred wish-granting relic. Aided by allies including pirate captain Tetra – an incarnation of Princess Zelda – and a talking boat named the King of Red Lions, Link sails the ocean, explores islands, and traverses dungeons to acquire the power necessary to defeat Ganon.

NINTENDOLAND

This party title features twelve minigames, each based on an existing Nintendo franchise that will take full advantage of the Wii U’s innovative controller. The game takes place in an amusement park, with attractions representing its minigames, which vary from solo to team and even competitive experiences, for countless hours of fun. You can even play using Wii Remotes and Nunchuks!

SUPER SMASH BROS

Featuring 58 playable characters including 17 newcomers from beloved Nintendo franchises, this crossover fighting title will have you and your friends battling it out to see which Nintendo character is the ultimate fighting machine! The gameplay is now enhanced by the 1080p resolution, new arenas and even three new exclusive game modes: Smash Tour, Special Orders, and Event Mode.

NEW SUPER MARIO BROS U

Building on the elements of the previous titles in this series and on the classic Super Mario Bros experience, this 2.5D platformer will once again take you on a quest to save Princess Peach from Bowser’s evil claws. You can even play with up to 4 of your friends, with the GamePad allowing you to manipulate the environment!

NEW SUPER LUIGI U

If Luigi is your favorite of the two plumbers, then this game is for you! With him placed as the star of the game, the levels are similar to those of New Super Mario Bros, but they have been made slightly shorter and far more challenging.

SUPER MARIO 3D WORLD

This sequel to Super Mario 3D Land features a mix of mechanics from both the 3D and 2D iterations of Mario, allowing you to both free-roam through the level, while at the same time retaining the time-limit and flagpole of the older titles. You and your friends can choose  from a list of characters including Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, and the unlockable Rosalina, each with their own feel and abilities.

MARIO KART 8

Mario 8 brings the same fast-paced battle racing you expect from the series. It features 32 playable characters, out of which 16 are unlockable, and 48 different courses, of which 16 are remodels of your favorite ones from previous games. Race with 3 of your friends in split screen mode or with up 12 players online for unlimited fun!

NINTENDO WII U – FUN FACTS

The cost of the console was reasonable and it arrived promptly. It works very well according to my grandson. The only problem was that there was no instructions or paperwork regarding hooking it up or other info. My grandson went online to find out how to do it. Good for him but there should be instructions.

This console is just great, for the family, the Deluxe edition is better because you got more storage and also Nintendo Land that has good family mini-games; the ability to play using only the gamepad and use the TV for something else is great if you have the Wii U in a shared area in the house. The power of the gamepad to change the style of gaming is well implemented in games like Batman: Arkham City and is useful in games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, where you see the entire map always on the gamepad and have access to the different classes; in the end is up to the developers to make the most out of the gamepad. Overall greatly satisfied with this console, I also have a PS3 and the Wii definitely brings a different gameplay.

  3. Francie

Nintendo really did itself this time! I always played Wii at friends houses, but never owned one myself. I did have to buy a couple of Wiimotes so I could play the old games. What fun! But, of course I HAD to have ZombieU, New Super Mario Bros. There’s no option to go to the Miiplaza when you go in Wii mode. I thought it would be nice to hang out there with Wii friends. You can’t email them either. Its’ like a neighborhood you can’t visit. But, you can still shop at Wii store. Why would I want to buy Wii games if I can’t play with anyone online??Downloading at Nintendo e-shop is fun too! The only thing I don’t like about downloading is you can’t trade the games in at you local game store. And, if the game is discontinued or you delete your Nintendo Id, not only won’t be available for download anymore, but you lose all your money you have on account at the store. Huh….not very good! I only plan on purchasing cheap games at the e-shop. Lots of folks at the Miiverse downloaded Lego City: Undercover. Its a 22 gig download, $50 game that can take 4 hours or more to download! Isn’t it easier to just buy the disk??There are USB ports so you can have a external hard drive, but I’m not sure you can keep an uninstall copy of the downloaded software on it as a reserve copy. I think its just for saved play. Any advice someone can give me on this would be appreciated :)There is no Ethernet port on the back, none….I was quite unhappy with this. I like options. But, you can buy a Wii Lan adapter ($24;) you insert in the usb port on the back then your Ethernet cable in that! Viola! You can get online without wireless if you choose to.Lots of people are complaining about the battery. Dies after 2 hours? People play for more than 2 hours?? I don’t have to worry about that I don’t have 2 hours just to play games, so I’m good! LOL!Anyway its still Merry Christmas to me in March! LOL!You can even watch tv while someone is playing with the game pad, play your old Wii.

  5. Jodi

I got this as a surprise for my husband. He absolutely loves it. He plays on it all the time. The console is so awesome that you can play on it while someone else watches tv. Great console. Even better gift idea!

  6. stinky

Great kid friendly system and how can you beat mario and all his friends.great graphics, games, intuitive controls and set-up.only reason i didn’t give a 5 star rating is the updates take sooooo long.i understand all the new consoles have updates but the wii u just seems to take so much longer than my ps3 and ps4.i don’t care myself but try to get a 10 year old to have patience while game downloads information or updates itself.touchpad seemed gimmicky at first but i must admit it is a cool addition to an already great console.colors and backgrounds are amazing and in HD look wonderful.finally the library of games is starting to live up to what any gamer expects from a nintendo product.

  7. jenifier gray

i got it in a couple of days, brand new in the box

  8. Alexander Hernandez

  9. Rebecca S.

This was purchased as a birthday present for my grandson. He loves it.

  10. Linda Schreier

It is so cool to see the action on the screen at the same time it is showing on the TV. Easy to use.
