X-men Legends

X-Men Legends is a real-time role-playing game where players put together their own team of X-Men heroes to combat such legendary foes as the Morlocks. Brotherhood of Mutants. And Sentinels. Moreover, in true role-playing game fashion. But players control their group of X-Men characters to take benefit of each individual’s special powers. And abilities while in combat. However, each character becomes more experienced in battle. Also his or her powers will grow over time. And new fighting moves become available to help the character develop into a more formidable opponent.

However, players will assemble their party from a lineup of more than 15 characters. Including popular favorites Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Gambit, and Beast. And certain locales may require stealth to avoid alarm systems or traps. Making Wolverine or Nightcrawler more valuable team members. While multiple enemies may be more quickly dealt with using the crushing power of Colossus or the Beast. But players will have to carefully weigh the pros and cons of each superhero before forming the party and beginning a mission.

But once a mission begins, players can switch control between the mutants at any time. And can even implement combo moves between specific characters such as Wolverine’s and Colossus’ “fastball special” maneuver. Which has Colossus picking up Wolverine and tossing him at a foe to dole out heavy damage. Also up to four players can join in the adventuring together. And working as a team or honing their superhero skills from within the Danger Room training ground. Man of Action, a four-man production company of veteran comic book authors, wrote the game’s storyline.

Great game. Old copy went bad. Glad to find replacement!

    Works great! Great condition!

I find that X-Men Legends is one of my most well liked PS2 games. There are a host of characters like Jean Grey, Storm, Cyclops, Wolverine, Gambit, Emma Frost, Rogue, etc. The different story lines are pretty good too with General Kincaid. Marrow, Magneto and The Brotherhood being some of the main antagonists. So the pros are:1. Extremely great gameplay. The stories offer great opportunities to fight, level up, and just use your super powers.2.Each character has their own moves that can be upgraded upon when you level up.3. You can use the Danger Room to level up, practice, and get even stronger.Cons:1. The game has a bit of wait time in it. You are too often forced to be in single player mode in order to search around the X-Mansion with Magma. It is a bit annoying and boring when you have your 2nd player sitting off to the side waiting.2. Searching happens to be a big downside of this game. You have to search for Danger Room discs (or wait until you have Healer and buy them) or search for specific people to talk to.3. Glitches. Sometimes you have to reload your game because the system glitches and won’t continue on to the next section. There are other minor glitches that may or may not have to do with the game but individual damage to my disc (ie. trying to get people to go through a certain objective point involving Gateway but they wouldn’t)4. You can’t really replay through it. You have to start all over again. You can’t just pick certain bosses and levels but must begin.

its a game, played it before but lost my copy. it was nice to obtain another one for such a cheap price when i got the urge to play it again. it did arrive in great condition. if you want this game this is the place to get it from. :)

The game is pretty straightforward; it is mostly a side-scrolling brawl. You can control the mutant powers of fifteen different X-men and the game does a fairly good job of blending RPG and action game elements (i.e. the stats-managing and equipment of an RPG, the gratuitous fighting and button mashing of an action scroller). I do think that X-Men fans will enjoy this more than those unfamiliar with this “galaxy” of the Marvel Universe. The main character is a recent recruit of the Xavier Institute (I would have preferred Wolverine or Cyclops) who is beginning a series of global campaigns with the X-Men. You can use your mutant powers much like magic in an RPG, and this amounts to a good system. You can blast away with Storm or Cyclops and increase their “Focus” stats, which deal with the regeneration and strength of mutant ability, or you can give Wolverine a high strike ability, increasing his melee might. Or, if you want to mix it up, make Cyclops a hard hitter and use Jean Grey. There are some good options and more than one way to develop a team. I believe you can get more out of the game when you have someone to play it with, however. Controlling four mutants at once and switching back and forth can get pretty hectic. If you feel you would enjoy the combination of superhero and RPG worlds, this might interest you.

Decent replayability, fairly long game. The gameplay gets slightly repetitive near the end.

    Son happy with game

Having first appeared in the pages of Marvel comics more than 40 years ago and recently starring in two highly successful movies, dozens of comic spin-offs, and video games on nearly every platform since the 8-bit NES, the X-Men have broken out of the geek-chic mold of the comics universe to become modern pop culture icons. But thanks to their new digital debut in the action/RPG genre with X-Men Legends, you’ve never seen Xavier’s men (and women) quite like this before. X-Men Legends is equal parts super-powered team-brawler and carefully customizable RPG in the vein of successful genre-benders like Baulder’s Gate, but mixed with the familiar flavor of the Marvel universe – meaning Legends is saturated with atmospheric authenticity and comic book continuity. The exciting and original story (penned by former X-Men comic authors) starts when Magneto’s minions attempt to kidnap a powerful young mutant named Alison Crestmere for use in his attempts to rule the world and subjugate humanity. In order to combat Magneto and his evil Brotherhood of Mutants, you assume control a group of four X-Men selected before each mission stage from an overall pool of over a dozen of these famous fighters, with the ability to switch between each character on the fly. Perhaps the coolest part of X-Men Legends is the handy Dynamic Joining feature, which allows you and up to three friends to each take control of an X-Man at any time and come and go as you please without disrupting the progress of the.
