4.5 Stars:I’ve been playing city builders for many years and have found that many of them aren’t nearly as good as they should be. This one is a great game!!!!i7 4820 processorNvidia 780Playing on 16:10 resolution monitorThe game runs flawlessly for me, and it’s a huge game. From cars to people, to buildings to roads, there is so much to do. From a full sandbox more to the mod community, this is a game that will live for many many years. My only gripe (and the removal of .5 star) is that while the User Interface is semi-intuitive, there should be a more guidance to people starting out. There is a Steam menu that sits over the top of the bulldozer, that you will need to remove every time you start the game. I also wish there was a way to really slow the game down even more. That may be more of a personal preference than a detriment to the game, as I’ve yet to see how you are penalized for taking your time.Really, for the price you shouldn’t pass this up. With what very large companies like EA and Activision/Blizzard have been doing to games lately, it’s really nice to see quality games build by smaller companies. The overhead added into those publishers, really increases the price of their products and decreases the fun for the money you get with their games. There were 9 people that worked on this game (I believe) over a two year period. 9 people!!!! They deserve the accolades they will receive from this game.

Cities: Skylines (I have the Steam version) is what SimCity should have been, but EA failed. So an Indie Team called "Colossal Order" took the City Builder genre in their hands and made it happen. Cities: Skylines has everything from sandboxes, custom made buildings/cars, and more. Best of all it’s moddable for those who like that kind of thing, you can have mods replace a certain vehicle, building or even plant. The mods go in-depth and make Cities: Skylines expand into a game that you can put countless hours into. As a plus side, you can sync your game saves to "Steam Cloud" (if you are using Steam) so you can have them on the go if you have different computers. From one minute you could be the cleanest city in the game, but in minutes you can have the dirtiest city in the world, have poop take over, flood everything and get people sick. This is one of the best City Building games ever made, and you can spend countless hours building your own city, your own way. It’s like playing with LEGO’s but now, you are your own creator in building your own city. I think the best thing I learned about this game is that this game was made by 10(ish) people. Colossal Order proves that you don’t need 40 people working on the game, it might get the job done faster, but the game will be missing many features due to budget problems.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Probably nothing I can add other than to say that it’s wonderful, wonderful and wonderful again. I have played Simcity since it first came out in 1989 and loved the series. Each one getting better than the last until the last iteration in 2013 and like many, I was dissapointed, disillusioned and I felt frankly ripped off. Cities Skylines has rebuilt my faith that a game can be everything it should be and more. Does it have flaws? Absolutely, but the mods have overcome many of those issues. So instead of being forced to play a game that has major flaws, you just get the mods and play a game with a few minor things. The lack of a street level view has always bothered me in Sim games including this one. But there’s a mod for that. The traffic reporting system in Cities Skylines kind of sucks, but there’s a mod for that. There’s a sad lack of variety in vehicles and buildings, but there’s tens of thousands of mods for that…and the list goes on and on and on.Cities Skylines follows a similar playbook to Skyrim which allowed players to have tons of mods and was still somehow able to release multiple DLC’s that provided great extra value. Skylines does the same. Tons of mods and yet they still have the frst expansion pack out that adds to it even more. Proof that you can allow players to mod, and you can give them lots of content and still make money on expansions and DLC’s as opposed to the EA way which is to strip out al.

My son loves it. It’s a terrific game for problem-solving, and the interface seems to be intuitive and clear (my son’s 9 and he had almost no problem with it).
