All I can say is as soon as this game came in the mail I was like a kid on Christmas…Couldn’t wait to open it and play…one of the best games ever in my opinion…one of the best purchases ever… :)

I’ve played harder games than this one, but its certainly no cakewalk in any way, shape, or form. It will definitely test your ability to inflict and dodge attacks. Your life preserving strategies will get quite a workout too. You’ve got to be on the ball if you want to get through this game. Even with maxed out stats, you can’t just plow through the game and take hits. Heck, even with max strength I wouldn’t mess with those knife-throwing eagles. I just ran away from them, and still somehow lived. There’s no way you can beat this game without a walkthrough. No freaking way. Way too many dangerous mazes and unobvious methods to get items. And you need ALL of the items to get through the game. You can’t just pick and choose. You need to have the thunder spell to beat the boss, and you need to have all the magic containers to get the spell, see. There are really only two places where you’d get stuck in this game. Unfortunately one of the places is right at the beginning and the other is right at the end. At the beginning, Death Mountain really is DEATH mountain. I can’t think of any way to get through it except by building up experience points like crazy and leveling up several times. Those red alligator cavemen are monstrous. And at the end, well, just walking along the path from the giant spider to the Great Palace is a heck of a challenge. Dinosaur men throw barrages of rocks at you with the accuracy of snipers, and one-eyed ghosts fly around randomly, knocking.

Some refer to this as the "black sheep" of the Zelda series, because it’s so different from other titles (mainly the first). But I embrace the differences. I love the RPG elements, and although the 2D, side-scrolling combat is new, it is still enjoyable.Of course, perhaps my judgment is clouded by nostalgia–I originally played this back in the early 90s, and now I’m re-connecting with this, and some of the other old games.A black sheep (despite it’s odd color) is still cuddly and makes for a good companion.

Good game and good price. It came in the original box, which I wasn’t expecting, which was nice. That said the box was pretty old and beat up. It arrived fast. actually too fast. I still haven’t gotten my NES in the mail yet so I can’t tell if it works. I will update this post when I test this game.

Cart is in great condition, fired up on the first try. Very happy!

A timeless classic that I ABSOLUTELY HIGHLY RECCOMEND if you have an NES and are looking for a challenge!

This game is one of the better Zelda games out there a lot of people will tell you that this is a bad game don’t buy it but its a very good game in the rpg style so its not at all like the other Zelda games and its very difficult if you don’t play this game with a good strategy if you buy this game i would probably recommend you buy a guide or look up an online guide for your first run through the game since its difficult and theres a whole bunch of little things and secrets that you wouldn’t ever know unless you had a guide or someone with you that has beat the game before but it is a good game to have and it will last you days even with a guide so overall I would recommend getting this game but buy it from a collector or one in excellent shape so you know its been took care of but as soon as you get it clean the pins so it doesn’t gum up your 72 pin connector.
