Link to the past was my favorite zelda game of all time so playing this is a real throwback and brings a smile on my face. Although I would have likely been happier with SNES style graphics they still did a great job of imitating the world map and and certain landscapes with updated graphics giving it a fresh feel to it as well. I have only gotten so far in the game right not, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. It’s enough like the original that it offers nostalgic relief at the same time its got a completely new story and graphics design making it feel fresh and new at the same time.

This is NOT a simple remake. Don’t expect it to be. What this game is better described as would be a nostalgic game set partly in the world that was made for Zelda (3) A Link to the Past. The overworld is similar but not carbon copy. Even some dungeons have slight similarities, but I feel this was for the sake of nostalgia and not any bit of laziness on Nintendo’s part.My biggest compliment to Nintendo? NO MORE STYLUS!!! If you played the previous DS Zelda games, you probably got sick of controlling the entire game with the stylus. In this game you use the circle pad to move and the D-pad moves the camera slightly. The music is based on LTTP and Ocarina of Time (OOT) but it is slightly tweaked and improved. Control is amazingly fluid. Much improved over the old SNES and DS versions. It really feels like you have good control. You don’t really stop on a dime, instead there is a bit of momentum. It makes the game tough at times because you WILL fall off ledges. And you do have a bit of bounce back if you strike things with your sword!Other great changes/improvements? Well the fact that after the first big dungeon, the game is wide open (for the most part) is really interesting. You rent or buy the items such as the bow and mallet. It’s expensive and you lose them if you rent them then die, but it makes for a decent challenge. Oh, and rupees are easier to find – but you still have to balance your budget! There is a lot of backtracking due to treasure chests and.

I LOVE this game. This was my first game purchase with my 3DS XL. In waiting for this one to arrive by post, I played the old SNES title A Link to the Past to "warm up" for this one. I’m still in the midst of exploring Hyrule and Lorule, but so far the game is superb. I’m not going to go into too much detail and spoil things, but if you’ve played ALttP, this title will be a breeze for you. For those who hated fighting Moldorm(that big ugly armored worm), it’s easier to fight him in this title. Had to get that out, as I’ve talked to many people who socked away their ALttP cart in storage, because of Moldorm being so frustrating. No worries this time! The controls are near-perfect, but they take some getting used to. Took me an hour or so. The graphics are great; similar to Animal Crossing, Wind Waker, ALttP, and really cool in the 3D setting. Like I said, I won’t spoil the game for you, but I am saying this is a superb game, and you must buy and play this!**Keep in mind that the 3DS’ 3D effects are NOT recommended for kids under 6, and that kids should be supervised while playing these games. This advisory comes from Nintendo themselves; they care about your kids!**

This Game is amazing. It has so much to explore, even if it is not part of the mission. You can do anything from fight streetpass battles with Shadow Links, to "Gamble" at fortunes choice. The one problem with this game is that it is VERY hard. the puzzles are almost impossible for a young gamer like me, and i find myself losing patience and interest. They do have a hint ghost, but you have to walk a certain number of steps to gain play coins which you give to the hint ghost to give you the hint. I don’t know about you, but i don’t like to hike with a bulky 3ds, or in my case 3ds XL, in my pocket. I do like to hike though, but with empty pockets. Overall this game is fun, but be prepared to have the internet accessible, as you might need to look up the "Answers" to the puzzles

Let me start by saying this is the first game I ever played on my 3ds. When I bought it, I broke out all my back issues of game informer and read in depth reviews of all the highest rated 3ds games. I narrowed it down to luigi’s mansion, mario and luigi, and link between worlds. Link between world won. I’m quite the retro enthusiast, and, when I read that link between worlds was an indirect sequel the snes classic link to the past, that sold me. The story was great, for a Zelda game. Of course you start out as a normal kid, as in most Zelda games, and gradually make the transition to hero. The game is also quite long, around 17 hours and defiantly worth the current price tag. The world is doubled in size from the last game but I’d rather keep this spoiler free so I won’t go into that. There are so many collectables in the kingdom that you can easily get distracted from the story and focus solely on finding them. The characters are as Kwirky and lovable as ever and will certainly grow on you. The soundtrack is great. A real nostalgia trip for longtime fans of the series. The gameplay is also a good throwback to classic Zelda titles, with some improvements. You have the opportunity early on to rent most of the weapons right out of the gate getting the opprotunity buy them outright later in the game. Graphics at good, they could be better but I think nintendo was going for a retro feel. It has a top down perspective like the old games as well. In closing a link between worlds is.

This is the first Zelda game I’ve managed to beat, so, prior to this I’ve never been a huge Zelda fan. That said, this game is amazing! The graphics are lovely. It’s filled with inside jokes from the Zelda series. The easy mode shouldn’t present too great aof a challenge, but Hero Mode should challenge even veteran fans of the Zelda series. The ending even made me cry (not a terribly difficult feat, I admit). The music is lovely, and the whole game feels very polished. The changes they made to Zelda’s linear structure are most welcome, and the game is filled with side quests to enjoy. In short, this game is a very worthy addition to the Zelda line-up.

Zelda, Link to the Past was probably my all time favorite action-RPG type game. I’ve been disappointed with pretty much every Zelda since – mostly because they moved to the 3D perspective, while I vastly prefer the overhead perspective. When the DS came out, I had hopes for the new non-3D offerings, but they introduced annoying touch-screen interfaces that were non intuitive and you couldn’t just use the controller. Finally Nintendo has brought back the real Zelda game – this is how it always should have been.

Having lots of fun with this. There are some similarities to Link to the Past (mainly the map), but it feels like a fresh game. I’m finding it to be quite a bit easier than Link to the Past was but it is very enjoyable. Good puzzles and the ability to become a painting adds an interesting dimension to the game. Playing in 3D looks pretty good if you’re into that.

So, my husband and I had bought my son (he’s almost 6) a Nintendo 3DS XL for Christmas this year, since he had been SUCH a good boy (cough cough). After bring it home to wrap up, I began to get all nostalgic and my thoughts turned to all those fond memories I had of sitting in front of my old grey-bricked Gameboy, playing for extended periods of time and neglecting my chores and homework. I was remembering all those hours, days and weeks I burned up after Christmas one year, when I myself received the new Gameboy Color! Oh, how happy I was, and oh, how angry my parents were when they got their phone bill! I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I called the Nintendo Hotline. I had it memorized and on speed dial. But when it came to wasting my life away on games, Zelda was the one that I was ready to drop out of school for. I was addicted and needed help, clearly. But alas, my love for the games faded when I got to high school, and I began to go more for the boys rather than the Gameboys. So, upon digging up all those old feelings, I decided that I would spoil myself a bit and buy The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for myself. I thought "Hey, he can’t play while he’s sleeping! So, I’ll just sneak his DS into our bedroom and play for a few minutes before bed!". What a swell idea! Wrongo. This is beginning to turn into my elementary & middle school years all over again. I was up last night till 4am playing this game. And it’s been like that pretty much ever.

I am not a gamer by any stretch of the imagination. I cannot even remember the last time I committed to playing a video game from start to finish. When I was 12 I was given A Link to the Past as a gift and I dove in head first. I enjoyed everything about it and it solidified a genuine true love for the Zelda franchise. When I saw that a direct sequel to ‘A Link to the Past’ was coming out I was excited. I don’t use my 3DS all that often but I’ve been addicted to this game since the day retrolio dropped it off on my front step. The game in itself is it’s own adventure but retains so much of A Link to the Past DNA that the nostalgia factor alone made the game worth its weight in gold…err, rubies. I would recommend this adventure for anyone of any age. It’s involved, committed and has moments of deep beauty. I didn’t use the 3D often but I did for the videos and some of the dungeons because a few of them are just plain FUN and the 3D really enhances the gaming experience. All in all I really loved this game. It stays true to the original but retains it’s own epic identity. Hopefully Nintendo doesn’t keep us waiting another 20 years for a sequel. But if they do, I’ll be the first 53 year old in line.
