If you have enjoyed any top down Zelda game in the past 25 years then you’ll like this. It closely resembles Link to the Past without having to totally ride that game’s coattails. It brings in many interesting new things while still managing to keep that Zelda game charm. The item system helps make the game a bit less linear after you clear the first few dungeons, as instead of finding most items in the dungeons you actually rent the items from the shop. This opens up exploration much sooner as you can rent items like the hookshot and such very near the beginning. If you do fall in battle however the items go back to the shop, but you can also buy them permanently to keep them forever. The game has many secrets in it as well, including some fun sidequests. The new ability Link gets in the game is useful throughout the entire game and it integral in many puzzles and even combat. This game also promotes replaying it as after beating it once you unlock a harder Hero mode to really test your skills.Zelda veterans and those new to the series will both enjoy this and I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys a fun game.

The game was surprisingly fun, not that I thought it would be bad.Really fluid controls, everything worked really well while playing through the game. Occasionally I wanted to use the d-pad but the developers reserved that for camera controls…Intuitive level design, I have to hand it to the designers, they where very clever with the 3d/2d obstacles.Awesome bosses, I wont say that their was anything that scared me but man some of those monster rooms and bosses where intimidating. (Note Im 19.)Difficult, though it could have been harder. I have yet to start the hero quest that unlocks after beating the game (sorry if that is a spoiler though it is very minor) but I beat the entirety of the game in about 10 hours in single weekend without dying once. Though I had a few close calls…Overall, this game is a must have!

As a child, I didn’t own any zelda games but a friend had Link To The Past and I would always play it for a few minutes when I would go hang out at his house. One does not progress well in such a game under these conditions. So LTTP was always this childhood itch that I felt I needed to scratch. Anyway, LBW was the scratch for that itch. The two games are very similar but the 3d and the painting schtick are enough of a novelty to make the game feel new. In any case, very enjoyable. Nice, long game with lots to do.

A Link Between Worlds is a solid entry in the Zelda franchise, and a welcome return to the top-down roots of the series. Nintendo has done an excellent job translating the world of Link to the Past into 3D, and this new title offers plenty of welcome changes to the aging Zelda formula for a fresh new experience.I originally wasn’t excited about the star feature – the ability to merge into walls – but Nintendo nailed it, and puzzles that make excellent use of this new mechanic are found throughout the game. While progression in Zelda games has traditionally been a bit rigid, Nintendo has really opened things up in A Link Between Worlds. After completing the first few dungeons, players can play the remaining dungeons in any order. Most of the classic items – bow, hookshot, fire rod, boomerang, etc – are not unlocked by beating dungeons, but rented or purchased (with rupees, no IAP!) from an eccentric shop-owner (who looks more than a little like a purple Rabbid…). The shop opens up very early in the game, also giving players a lot more freedom than they’ve had in previous Zelda games. I welcome this new mechanic – hasn’t Link found the hookshot in a dungeon enough times by now? This also eliminates the rather silly aspect of previous games that bosses were inevitably hiding in the same dungeon as the one item necessary to defeat them. However, the new approach does make the bosses themselves a bit less memorable – several of them can be defeated with just the sword. The overwor.

This as the title says is in my opinion one of the best Zelda games on a hand held system. The story and setting in the link to the past universe Is a nice throwback. The world was changed up enough so it felt like a new adventure but was still familiar. The game has re-playability with unlocking a hard mode after your first play through. The 3d in this game is done right unlike most of the other games(I never use the 3d so I say I have a 2d 3ds)and acutely helps in certain cases. The new item system sounds like a bad idea at first but in practice it was fun.The one drawback was that the game was over quickly witch isn’t that bad. Overall I say that this is a must own game for the 3ds.

I’ve played through this game twice, and my 11 year old son has once. This is by far the best Zelda game for any of the systems, especially if you’re an older gamer like me and spent a summer playing A Link to the Past on the SNES.The 3DS controls are set up wonderfully and the in game inventory by way of the touch screen is just what an RPG like this needs. The graphics are fantastic, the world is a delight, and the story is as brilliant as ever. The combat is excellent, given all the different items you can use, and the boss battles are clever. The dungeons take a little brain power to complete, as well as specific items. If you enjoy RPG games of any kind (not just Zelda titles), I can fully recommend this game.

I love this game. It’s my second game from the Zelda franchise, my first being Wind Waker. I’d borrow my brother’s gamecube and have a great time navigating the oceans, battling the bosses, and getting a wonderful sense of accomplishment every time I figured out one of the difficult puzzles. This is a great game for beginners to the series and has a wonderful story. It’s a little predictable, and with all of the power-ups easily accessible it’s not as challenging to me as Wind Waker was. But that might be because I’m much older now! I would defiantly recommend this game whether your a budding or long time fan or just someone looking for a good adventure. It’s fun, the characters are enjoyable and the music is perfect.

I’ve been playing Zelda since it came out in the 80’s. This is my second favorite version of Zelda after OoT. Such great gameplay in this one, loved it and could NOT put it down when I started!

I was ready for the rainy intro scene… Link… Link… Wake up! NOPE! My assumption that this was a remaster was wrong, and I love it! New story, new dungeons, new concept in a oh so nostalgic map and music! I could not put this down. The only negative comment for me was that it was too easy, and after beating the game, I don’t feel like playing it over again in Hero mode. I wish they had the option to set the difficulty in the beginning. Regardless, I loved every bit of the game. I’ll probably pick this up in a year or two and have a go at Hero mode when I want to replay the game again. This is definitely one of those classic feeling Nintendo games that you played growing up in the 80s/90s!

This zelda its great, but somehow short and easy *normal mode*, the graphics are very good, the 3d effect its good too, and the controls are perfect *i hated the style controlled DS zelda games*. The hero mode its a very hard quest and i love it, still a short session but very rewarding one. Not the best zelda but a very good one. After the OOT Remake, this one feels like its lacking something… this game should have been the firt game for the 3ds and then continue with the OOT remake…
