This game released to less than favorable reviews. After playing it, I’m not really sure why. The story has appeal and the characters are likable. The action is somewhat cookie cutter but that is common.I would class it as a game as not being worth a full $60 price tag, at $30 or lower it is a great purchase.

I never bother reviewing anything on here – I was compelled to review this game because I’m stunned at how poorly this was rec’d because of all the supposed “bugs”. Compared to Fallout: New Vegas, well, there is no comparion – I had ONE bug the entire time I played through, and it was immediately after a save point.I’m not a hardcore RPG guy – I love Mass Effect, Fallout, etc., but sometimes I think reviewers confuse those of us who aren’t going to spend 300+ hours on a game and are just looking an engrossing story that’s easy to get into, challenging but not ridiculously so, and makes you think, “Hey, that was a lot of fun and I felt like I was really an integral part of the story.”Alpha Protocol does all those things, and is a steal at this price. The only spy-RPG out there, it’s a game you can play multiple times and still enjoy.

This is a game that has suffered more from poor advertising then poor game play. I found the game very fun and not at all broken. I agree that it gets a little twitchy at parts. However if you go into the game expecting a RPG it is not at all disapointing. I think the reason it has had such bad press is people expected Halo and it is much closer to KOTOR in game play. The RPG elements are great and alow for a great deal of control over skills, looks and personality. I like the timed mini games as they add a element of suspense and hurry to the game intrensic to all good spy movies, i.e. ‘red wire, green wire’. My major problem with the game is that it is to level based giving it a Doom like feel. Also the levels are set out in such a way that you feel like a rat in a maze, your only options are going from point A, to point B. This being said you have a lot of choice in how to get through the maze and your choices will alter later major plot events which leaves you guessing at the consiquensces of your actions throughout. Finally if you are a fan of Call of Duty or Halo this game may not be enjoyable for you it is based to much around RPG tactical skill and not on pure personal ability. If on the otherhand you enjoy complex plot, and Deep RPG elements you may find yourself as addicted to the game as I am. I’m not saying that one is better then the other just that this game requires a strong prefrance for RPG over shooter.

I played and finished this game a long time ago and sorta kinda like that one girl you dated for a few months you didn’t even think would be your type and then life gets I the way but she left an ever lasting impression on youThis what Alpha Protocol was like. At first I saw the bad reviews and decide led to stay away from the game. Eventually I saw it cheap and decided to get it with the knowledge that I can always sell it if I didn’t like it or whatever. After buying it I wouldn’t even end up playing the game until a few years later as I had other 10/10 classic games to play and when I eventually got to playing alpha protocol I was initially like “eww what is this garbage!!??â€I don’t know what made me continue playing but it didn’t take long until the charm of the game sank its hook into me and I ended up loving this game much more so than that other game it was obviously modeled after. For one because this game isn’t a trilogy and it’s one game it ended up beating mass effect at its own game where decisions/ choices/ consequences actually mattered and had more weight. The RPG elements in this game also just felt more than mass effect (especially after the first game) when it decided to it wanted to be call of duty and gears of war.I know that if Obsidian had BioWare a budget to work with for this game or its sequel they could have knocked it put the park.Look at what they did with Outer WorldsAnd I ended up liking what they did with Fall Out New VegasIf was I someday hit th.

This is the best game I have played in a long time. There are so many options for weapons, armor, gadgets, and how to upgrade your character. It takes thought to do this because you can’t upgrade everything all the way in one playthrough. The music and the whole feel of the game reminds me of the bourne movies which is great. In the beginning, you don’t have many skills so it is hard to shoot so I understand why people can get frustrated and hate the game. You are supposed to upgrade your skills. That solves that problem. I don’t know why they think it should be a shooter when the front of the case clearly says “The Espionage RPG”.The graphics can vary; they are not great but definitely not terrible. The worst graphics are usually in the cutscenes. The cover system is not the best but it works when you get used to it which doesn’t take long. I have not experienced any glitches so I cannot comment on that.I don’t know what is wrong with the critics. I see no reason why this scored so low with them other than they expect beautiful graphics and easy shooting from the get go. Maybe I just like being a spy more than a spaceship commander, but Alpha Protocol was more fun than Mass Effect 2 for me. How do graphics even matter if you are having fun? It is a game. It’s a shame the critics killed the sequel because this deserves a much higher score than most of them gave. I hope someone else decides to make the second one and don’t dumb it down. Just polish it more. Give them their pret.

So many times I pop games in and pop them right back out. Some of the best games have sustained this ADD relationship I have with my entertainment choices. I can’t say I have this same problem with Alpha Protocol. I love this game. I am a big time fan of stealth action genre. Splinter Cell, MGS, Assassins Creed, etc. I truly enjoy the elements of these greats that pour out this game. I feel reviewers are expecting too much out of developers these days. If it isn’t besthesda, bio-ware, infinity ward, or naughty dog… it shouldn’t be played. The problem is my fellow gamers. We are playing the same games over and over again with graphical and interface improvements. I enjoy a new experience. And while Alpha Protocol blends elements of Splinter Cell and Mass effect… it does so ambitiously. It’s like Deus Ex with a Bourne Identity story line. True branching narrative unlike anything on the current market and true freedom of mission progression. You have to accept that graphics are not everything. You have to look beyond the common texture pop in and RPG shooting mechanics. Once you take this game in spite of those two very insignificant flaws. You will find yourself engrossed in an amazing narrative and loving every minute of it.

bought this for my son but i have played this before. I found it to be a fun spy game with a choose your path rpg style like Mass Effect or Dragon Age. Story was interesting and although the game mechanics aren’t perfect it is definitely worth playing. I’m not as picky about some of my games as some of the reviewers out there. I don’t look for every bug or collision problems. Unless it is awful and in your face mistakes that can be a game breaker i don’t sweat the small audio error or very minor lag issues. If lag issues were the end all of gaming then every Madden NFL game i’ve played from the very first to Madden 13 should be rated 1 star. But even with the Madden’s Lag issues I, along with millions of others still have fun playing the game. It does seem hypocritical for reviewers like Game Informer to adore the Madden games and give them 8 or 9 stars over and over but a game like this they rank it lower for minor bugs and problems that are dwarfed when compared to Maddens bug list.anyhow, it’s a fun little game with a good story and allows you to be a spy for a couple of days

Alpha Protocol is hands down my favorite game of all time. It’s a spy action rpg and political thriller all rolled into one!Pros: Infinite replayability, engaging dialogue, great action, fun gameplay, memorable characters, and massively entertaining storylineCons: (I am somewhat biased about this but if I had to choose) Combat takes a bit to warm up to, the story might be confusing to some, and the gameplay is slightly buggy.I would 100% recommend this game to anyone curious about this game or anyone that enjoys stealth/action games. I can’t express how much I like this game. Recommend anyone interested in Alpha Protocol to get it.

Protocol is a fun game. I just finished it and i was pleased with the story b/c you get to direct the direction of the conversations, which gives an appeal for a second play through. I will say that some of the boss fights are ridiculous, most notably the crazy russian but overall they are not to bad. The shooting can be a little awkward at times especially if you are moving but they are not near as bad as others have said. The reason I gave it an overall score of 4 is b/c of the graphics which really was kind of disappointing given how long the game was in development but even with this the game is engrossing b/c of the story and twist and turns. If you can get over the game not looking like MGS 4 or Conviction then you will like it. If you are not sure rent it and I think you will see what I mean.
