Castlevania: Curse of Darkness is the best early progenitor of the action/rpg genre. This game is the predecessor for games like the Demon’s Souls/Dark Souls series.Various weapon classes and a crafting system to create different ones- but each weapon class has it’s ownunique move sets and even special weapons within each class that deviate even further, giving the gamerich and immense playability. The story is nice, but the atmosphere and level design and music are what really shine making this gamemy favorite in the series. It is a 3D Castlevania: Symphony of the Night with a crafting system and interestingcombos one can employ. This was the last entry in the Castlevania series that I appreciated. After this the "Lords of Shadow" seriescame into effect and well… Those two entries get 1 star from me, sadly.

I’m excited to say that it has arrived in pristine condition with a minor scrape on case but flawless cd. It even came with the strategy guide in super good condition. I recommend this game and SellingTales whom which sold me this product

The shipping on this product was actually very fast and good, no complaints on that end. However, having come from Lament of Innocence, I felt very let down by certain key elements in this game. Movement felt a lot more sluggish, and the big thing that really eggs my opinion of this game is that some status effects are permanent unless you have a support minion – so if you are stunned and all the enemies are dead, consider restarting because I’ve waited 10 minutes for the main character to come out of it. I give it a four start rating mainly because the game as a whole is still worth playing in my opinion, and because the shipper did a really great job of getting this to me promptly. Just be sure that if you buy this game to look up online or in a manual how to get the best status protection or cures because otherwise this will be a very rough ride at times.

    Nice game.

I played this game when i was younger and really enjoyed it.Decided to get myself a new copy so i could play it again and while i do still enjoy it, it does have some aging problems. The controls are still fine but feel a bit less responsive than most games these days. If you’ve played the ps2 era dynasty warriors games and then compare them to the modern era dynasty warriors games you will get the same general feel for what i mean. Still it is a good game, and i do recommend it.

Excellent game. Bought mine, new from my local store, and have not been able to let go of it. This one is a very good game of the Castlevania series, can’t compare to Lament of Innocence because of the type of hero (Belmont Vs Devil Forge Master). Can say though that now we have both the types of heroes in two of the best titles of the series, and on the PS2.The story is that classic to Castlevania, the gameplay has improved since LOI, the graphics are a little better too, and the best of all, is way longer than LOI, I haven’t finish it 100% yet! not to mention Crazy Mode (mostly because some technical dificulties with my PS2 though). The new “Devil Forge Master”ing, the new “Item Creation”, the good ol’ fashioned-better-graphic-infused familiars… there hasn’t been a Castlevania like this one before. All in all, if you like Castlevania, and liked LOI, and SOTN you’ll LOVE COD.

This being my first foray into the world of Castlevania, I don’t have much to offer in the way of comparison. I’m also only about six hours into the gameplay, but so far I have somewhat mixed feelings about this game.First off, the pros. I’m having a lot of fun going through the various levels. Yes, they are somewhat repetitive, but it hasn’t been an issue for me yet. The enemies are fairly easy, which I know for some people is a con, but for me it makes it an easy game to just sit down and play without getting terribly frustrated with and wanting to throw my controller. I enjoy that challenge, but I also like to just play for fun. The graphics are not bad for the era it was made in and the music is nice. Now the cons. There isn’t all that much of a storyline so far. Characters are popping out randomly and then they disappear. For me, that gives the game a bit of a disjointed feel, but maybe it will get better later…I hope. But for now it seems like you’re just running into a bunch of random characters without it really adding anything. I run into Trevor Belmont, fight him, then he runs off without adding anything beyond a bit of a cameo appearance. The controls are a bit counter-intuitive. When I push the analog stick to the right, I tend to expect I will go right…not left. Its not a deal-breaker, but it takes a bit of getting used to. In addition, sometimes the enemies “disappear” due to some sort of glitch if the angle isn’t just right which tends to be annoying because.
