Even though I am a huge fighting game enthusiast I never got around to playing Guilty Gear. Because of this I had almost no desire at all to try Blazblue. After seeing the amazing reviews it got I decided to give it a chance. I must say this is probably up there with the greatest fighting games of all time> I mean it.The fighting in this game is bar none. The combat is fast paced and extremely addicting. The depth in this game is outstanding. And the best part is that it is extremely beginner friendly. My first play-through on normal difficulty I was able to beat it. The characters are all zainy and infectious and you can tell that tons of hours went into making every character balanced.I have read on many reviews that this game has very limited appeal. I have to disagree. I can’t think of one person that wouldn’t have a blast with this game. The only thing that does have limited appeal on this game is its story mode. The story mode is very, how you say, anime-ee. If you think you can handle that then definitely give it a shot. I am in no way an anime fan but I still found the story mode extremely enjoyable. The story itself is pretty sick. It may not make since at first but once you beat it with all the characters you will unlock the whole story. If you havnt noticed, I adore this game. I recommend anyone interested in fighters to pick this up. This is honestly in the top 3 fighters to come along in the past five years.

I bought this game on a whim after seeing some positive reviews and being a bit of a fan of it’s predecessor, the Guilty Gears series. I must say I have no regrets getting this game and recommend it to anybody who loves fighting games. I won’t go so far as to say it will change anybody’s mind who isn’t a fan of a genre, but anyone who is open minded should give it a shot. BlazBlue is a 2D one on one fighting game that features twelve characters choose from. No palette swamping, with moves, characteristics and fighting styles all different. Characters are zany, ranging from typical swordsman and ninja, to a vampire girl who uses roly-poly cat and bat as weapons, a simple minded catgirl, a hulking devilish-cyborg, etc. Anyone who watches Anime on a regular basis will feel right at home here. With Arcade, Story, Practice and Online mode, there is plenty to keep you busy as you progress through the game and unlock art and other goodies. Another fun aspect of the game is the story mode which flushes out the background of the game, with a rather witty dialogue and (generally) good voice over. How certain characters interact with one another makes the story even more interesting and the overall presentation is step above the rest because let’s face it, fighting game stories are generally nonsensical and convoluted. Art is high definition sprites on a 3d background (like Marvel vs Capcom 2) gorgeous and nicely animated to boot. Music is also very good, not over the top and fits the g.

Got this game last week and all I can say is WOW. I did not expect it to be as good as it was. Granted, I’m more of a casual fighting game kinda person though. I really found the most fun in the story mode. Sure … there is less fighting to be done but it was still amazing to go through each characters story several times to see alternate ending and such. I also finished everyone’s ending for arcade mode as well. Just those 2 modes ate up over 30+ hours.I’d say at least half of the characters are easy to use if you just wanna mash some buttons like myself. I never tried to learn actual command attacks but after messing around with the same character for so long, you learn which attacks lead well into others. Also, most of the attacks in the game look very flashy if you’re into that kind of thing.Anyway … get this game NOW.
