  1. History Fan

Still playing the game. The game is decent as a RPG but does not have the best of graphics.

Finally a good rpg for the psp and it to top it off it’s classic turn-based fighting, thank you!!!I was shocked that turn-based rpgs still exist as they are my favorite and most rpgs today are going the action route. But, if you like games such as final fantasy & dragonquest you won’t be disappointed. I was really shocked by the graphics as they are very good, especially for a psp game! Here are my pros and cons of the game.Pros – Awesome graphics, good gameplay, characters aren’t bad , neat spells, cool weapons.Cons – Voices can be annoyingHope this review helps.

I’ve played enough JRPGs to get a little jaded, and it’s hard to find any new ones that can hold my interest very long. I usually end up just replaying older ones I still love over and over, so this game was a really delightful surprise. There are three things that, in my opinion, make for a good RPG: a compelling story, characters you actually care about, and fun gameplay. Brave Story doesn’t exactly have these things in spades, but it somehow manages to entertain anyway. The story isn’t amazing or anything like that– in fact, it’s a bit cliche. But it’s definitely not the worst I’ve seen in an RPG.The characters aren’t developed very much on an individual basis, but they’re entertaining enough, and as a group you become pretty possessive of them.To be honest, the gameplay is probably what really had me laying up late at night leveling (and I usually HATE leveling characters).Fighting is turn-based, but you get to choose who fights on your team (aside from the main Traveler, who always has to be in the group). This actually requires some thought most times, as certain characters are better opponents for different monsters. Also, the more certain characters fight together, the closer they get. They might leap in to deflect blows meant for teammates, and they learn Unity skills together, which are powerful attacks or boosts. One of the things that makes leveling a little easier is the way experience points are doled out. They don’t go solely to the fighters, as in so.

I find this to be a solid 5 star RPG, something that you just don’t see too often these days–for any gaming system. I will just run down a list of why I like the game so much:1) The graphics are fantastic!2) The story is interesting and never gets dull or boring.3) The difficulty is just right.4) The battle system (turn-based).Brave Story is a very open-ended and engaging game with tons of side-quests. Even so, you are never left clueless as to what to do next to proceed in the story. This means you can take your time and complete everything, or just play it straight through to the end–the choice is yours. If you complete 100% of this game it will likely take you 40 hours, or more. Also, there is lots of replay value as having different characters in your party unlocks different combined abilities (unity skills). The game does require you to level your characters quite often, but that is part of the fun as you are always learning new abilities. With newly released rpgs running in such short supply, this game is a fantastic welcome to the PSP library of games. I can only hope that more rpgs of this caliber are in the works.

Brave Story: New Traveler is probably the best turn-based JRPG you will find on the PSP. I previously owned this game before re-purchasing it here on retrolio. It is still as great as I remembered it to be. One thing for sure remains with BSNT, it’s TURN-BASED. I know that it is a traditional role playing form when it comes to these type of games but there are times when it gets real tedious as with almost any turn based role playing game that I have played in the past. At times I felt that Brave Story had the potential to be a bit more unique with the addition of a different battle system or a hybrid type of action system so that you don’t have to sit through every slower paced turn especially when you have to fight hundreds of low level enemies. After a certain point during the game, you start to wish you could just hack n’ slash through A LOT of the low level enemies that take no thought to kill in turn based fashion and just be done with the battles. Good news is that you can successfully escape most unwanted fights (but not always, hence "MOST") and at about character level 20-26 (give or take, I don’t exactly remember the level) you unlock an ability to skip past low level enemies, which really helps to ease the tediousness being that battles are in good old RANDOM ENCOUNTER form. While Brave Story isn’t unique in any way, from it’s battle system to it’s story line, it’s still a solid RPG experience. With it’s beautiful graphics, nice music, Japanese v.

I was needing a fun rpg to play on my psp. First I tried Vahalla Knights 2 and it didn’t quite do it for me. It’s a pretty good game but just didn’t have what I was looking for. See my review on that game if you wish to know more. Anywho, last night I picked up a copy of Brave Story and I must say it’s really fun. I love the music and anime-style graphics of this game. It has that fun factor I was looking for. It’s visually appealing and fun to play.

One of the best rpgs I’ve played

This game is probably, in my opinion, the very first great and solid RPG on the PSP to date. The story is very interesting and the load times are amazing according to how the graphics look. Everything looks so beautiful in this game and they even have a fun minigame with chicken-looking birds! Definetly worth buying.

Hungry for an RPG on your PSP? I know I was, and the lame offerings the system had made me want to cry with disgust. Then, like a light at the end of a long tunnel, came Brave Story: New Traveller. Yes, it’s based on an anime I’ve never seen or heard of until now, but so what? Now, it’s not the most original of RPG’s, it’s not the most innovative of RPG’s, it’s not even the best of RPG’s. It comes to you and says: “Hey, you want an RPG that’s not only competent, but actually put together pretty darn well for your portable system that isn’t a Nintendo DS? Well that’s me.” And it points it’s thumbs at itself.Stop me if this sounds all too familiar: Kid is transported to fantasy world (Never Ending Story) and gets embroiled in a plot larger than himself (Final Fantasy), ultimately saving the world even though he’s not old enough to drive car (Almost every RPG in existence). Talk about cookie cutter, but it gets the job done. Granted, it’s a slow starter, but by the end of the game I was pleasently surprised that I had grown to care for the characters. Which must mean that if it wasn’t original, at least it was well done.Graphically, this game shines. Enemies and allies alike are nicely detailed, the over world has some nice touches, and the artwork and character designs are interesting. In fact, I don’t remember coming across a character whose appearance I did not like. Squaresoft, take a moment to learn a thing or two here. The game looks good, and once it’s loaded itself to th.

I absolutely love this game!! It’s everything an *old-style* rpg gamer could ask for and more. What made it great to me were the quests within a quest. You have the major quest with dozens of mini-quests that are listed in your Questbook once they are activated. While you could finish the game without worrying about the other quests they are what truly made a good game great!Once the game finishes you can even select a clear save and have a couple of new quests to do should you choose to do so. This game is a must have. It’s better to me than Final Fantasy and that’s saying a lot.I am hard of hearing so I can’t comment on the music or the voices. The graphics are so gorgeous that you almost wish you were there too. For me, there is no game out there better than this one and I can’t wait for another game with Tatsuya or maybe his son! :)
