The game is fully tested & guaranteed to work. It’s the cartridge / disc only unless otherwise specified.
After getting his wings clipped in Castlevania and Simon’s Quest, the death defying Count has risen again. Desiring revenge even more than blood, he’ll descend upon your Game Boy, with fangs glistening by the light of the slivery full moon. To survive his maze of torture chambers and vampire crypts, you must unlock the castle’s secrets by locating hearts, crystals and crosses. You must also possess the strength to master the Mystic Whip, which wards off unearthly evils like the She Worm. So risk your neck and accept Drac’s challenge. Because if you fail to destroy him now, he will rule the night forever.

I bought this game because I heard that the difficulty was through the roof for a Castlevania game, and because I am a fan of the Castlevania franchise in all of its incarnations.Graphically, it does well for an early Gameboy title. The monsters are sprited and animated at least as well as the Castlevania titles on the NES, though the creature variety probably suffers because of it. That is the beauty part in the difficulty of the game. The monsters are mostly strategically placed so that you must plan your attacks according to their position and the lay of the land.If your timing is off, you get hit, and your whip power depletes because of it, making matters more complicated when trying to defeat enemies before their attack patterns kick in. That helps break up the monotony of having to fight a relatively limited cast of monsters, One thing that impresses me is the ability of one monster’s projectiles to rebound off walls and floors and come back at you. They can even return from off screen behind you, quite a feat in an era of video games where once something goes off-screen it is usually gone for good.In a sense, the monsters can best be viewed as little more than well placed obstacles in a deadly obstacle course. You usually have to deal with them accordingly to safely get by spikes and pitfalls and have with enough hits to battle the bosses. Add to that some well placed rope climbing courses and you have yourself a Castlevania themed gauntlet of four long stages, each o.

One of the very first castlevania games on the gameboy. What makes this one different from castlevania II, and castlevania legend is the final boss fight and music. If you like castlevania make sure you get all 3 gameboy castlevania games. (Castlevania Adventure,Castlevania 2 Belmonts Revenge, and Castlevania Legend). They all 3 are great, fun adventures.

Playing this brings back memories of when it first came out on GameBoy and I was a little kid riding in the backseat of my mom and dad’s car playing it thanks again ,great price authentic cartridge

  8. Travis Marshall

This Konami classic was just as advertised. My particular order was just the cartridge/game, but is like new nonetheless.

  9. John Hiebs

Tough old game but very fun annnd in great shape… Quatro stars. Woulda’ been five but the level of frustration to beat this game brings it down to a four lol.

This is a portable castlevania and that’s exactly what it is plays just like the nes ones but it’s portable sure now it seems plain but really the graphics are as good as they could have gotten for the original gameboy sure it’s challenging but fun if you enjoy the classic castlevania style of gameplay and as a collector of course I had to buy it and it’s exactly what the title says a castlevania game for the gameboy :)
