I’m hooked on this one!!! The items harder to find in this one, so there is more of a challenge with this one. I really recommend this one for anyone who loves the MillionHeir! You’ll get hooked on this one too!!

  2. Sandi

  3. Diane Fontaine

    OK!

you better have good eyes for this one. some of the searches of crime scenes can take lots of time.they hide things well but that keeps you interested

  5. Quest Mama

My 9 year old daughter and I each have our own profile w/ this game. It’s a lot of fun and items can get challenging to find at times. I really like the story line. I hope they come up with a sequel to this game.

  6. Celia

fun, I would like to get more Cate West games

  7. LibKat

This game was fun but it could be made even better if the graphics were not quite so microscopic and vague. The story is intriguing but a bit wordy at times.

My first introduction to hidden object games was a crappy PC game called Monsterquest (yes, based on the Discovery Channel TV show). It wasn’t exactly great, which doesn’t really surprise me much since they probably had no budget. I was never that interested in hidden object games since I consider myself more of a fan of point-and-click adventure games based on solving problems rather than doing hidden object searches. However, I felt like my experience with Monsterquest was a rather unfair standard to judge the whole Hidden Object genre by since it’s a rather subpar game. So, I decided to pick up a hidden object game that is actually GOOD and give the genre a fair chance. That search led me to “Cate West: The Vanishing Files” since it seems to have an intriguing story (at least from the synopsis) and also has good reviews. Let’s find out if this is the game to make me like the hidden object genre…Graphics (score 6/10): Graphics during cutscenes looks fine – it’s all 2-D animation. The character models move a bit during dialogue and are generally good enough to not look, too static. Now, as for the hidden object gameplay, that’s where things are less good. As you might expect, the hidden object parts are a mess of random crap shoved together into the messiest rooms ever, and you’ve got to pick out the items you need. The trouble is that the DS almost looks like its screen is too small and too low resolution to handle those types of images. This can make it hard.

It’s like I spy or Find waldo type of game. I like the game because it has timer so I have to hurry for find things. I realized some things are very hard to see, and I have to use hints to just find one difficult item. I do like the storyline, and pick the suspect however it took me a bit of time to find right suspect!
