104 reviews for Contra 4 – DS Game

  1. Aaron K.I.N

I played it before but I missed it

  2. Rolando Collon

It’s everything I love about Contra, just updated and highly detailed (without being 3D).Just be aware, if you’re not familiar with the Contra series, this game is punishingly difficult. If you’re not into one-hit-deaths and extreme difficulty, this game might not be for you.But other than that, timeless classic.

  3. Jamie O

This game is just incredibly, incredibly fun. It’s a Contra game through and through, with a high difficulty curve and swarms of aliens to gun down. There are many callbacks to Contra, Super C, and Alien Wars, as well as some new surprises. One of the best action games on the DS.

  4. Clint

    Soooooo difficult

  5. mudd man

Contra stuck pretty close to early games. If you can remember play the old nintendo games you will know that they are not “easy” like many of the games today. For instance, get hit once or touched once in this game, you die. I thought the dual screen might help expand the game, but found is was more distracting than helpful. If you risk a glance up at the top screen looking for the weapon upgrades flying by, something will pop out from somewhere and kill you. It does have some neat extras and bonuses and If you are not looking for some long involved adventure quest; then this is a great game to have in your library.

  6. J. Pak

Reminds me of the good old Contra on the NES. Just as hard and decent visuals. Highly recommended if you liked the original and are into action/shooters but not if you give up easily as it’s relatively difficult even on ‘easy’. However, I bet there’s a code to give you more lives (up, up, down, down, left, right…etc.) Give it a go!

  7. the_ben_person

I still am horrible at Contra but I enjoy playing the 2 levels I can get to

  8. Jacob powell

Eventually the events in this game took place after the Alien Wars. However knowing how hard contra games can be I was already prepared for this one. But it seems I still got the skills for Contra although I’m not a major expert. I’ve played and beating all contra games except contra hard Corps, contra legacy of war and C the Contra Adventure. Contra first came out In 1987 which was the year I was born. I knew nothing about Contra until heard of contra shattered soldier for the PS2.

  9. A. Lada

I love this game! A great game for teen to adult! But it is not good for children under 10 it would be 2 hard.

  10. Terminus of X

Glad that Contra 4 returned Contra to its roots. After Contra 3, Konami simply put out trash after trash like that legacy of War garbage. Shattered Soldier was okay but it was a bit too insanely difficult for me and I don’t like getting assessments after beating a stage. So it was good that Konami finally got the message when it put out Contra 4 as well as added bonus games like classic nintendo Contra and Super C. Strange that Konami didn’t think to add Contra III or any of the arcade Contras but I guess they wanted to find a way to milk more money out of the Contra fans.Go figure.
