great game
With the Mega Man games achieving high status on the NES, Capcom decided to take advantage of the hand held department and released the very first portable Mega Man game in 1991. Before we go into the GOOD and BAD of this game, let me tell you that this game was the very first Mega Man game I ever completed. So in that respect, this game helped me get into the Mega Man franchise, even though I had played the first two prior to this game (again, this one I beat before them.). Read on or die:THE GOODThe graphics and animation transfer well from the NES counterpart and we get to fight four bosses from the first game. After you defeat them, you fight four from Mega Man 2 (this cycle continues and ends at Mega Man IV.). The music was also good, some of them new including the Wily stages. It’s also interesting to see a change on the bosses; examples: Cut Man’s nastier and Elec Man is tamer, Fire Man’s weapon is good against Quick Man, and so forth. And may I also state that the game is reasonably difficult… not “kick you in the and make you love it” difficult like the first Mega Man for NES, but certainly not an easy venture. Capcom also created an extra boss specifically for this game: Enker. He’s one of my FAVORITE robotmasters ever created. His weapon may seem useless, but… well, you’ll figure it out. One last thing: YOU’LL LOVE THE ENDING.THE BADThere are two things I didn’t like about the game. I wish it had more plot involved, and that isn’t too much of.
Mega Man shines on the Gameboy platform. The game has 4 stages instead of the original 6 to choose from and 2 large boss stages after beating each character. The game is excellent and transitioned very nicely from the NES. Mega Man moves and jumps very well there is not very much lag time like there is in Double Dragon & Castlevania for the Gameboy. The stages are challenging and fun to play through and the music is very good for the Gameboy console. The game has the classic Mega Man password save feature to save your progress when you pass each boss. Simple put the game is a big success. Capcom probably could have made a better looking cover it just seemed so generic, but you will not be disappointed picking this game up. Most players will fly through this game and beat it in probably 35 to 40 minutes. The game is enjoyable and fun while playing through it. Like all Mega Man games the ability to choose your route through the game gives it a much higher replay value than your average one path side scroller. You also get to battle several of the Mega Man 2 characters and a new boss call Enker at the end of the 1st boss stage. For those of us who never played the original Mega Man for the NES it is nice to see the classic characters Cutman, Iceman, Fireman, Electric Man on the portable platform.Gameplay: 8/10Play Control: 9/10Story: 8/10Challenge: 7/10Replay Factor: 8/10
This product is a must buy for any classic gamer who wants a fun, enjoyabe experience. The game was released in 1991 when the gameboy was ranked #1 in handhelds. Capcom trying to expand into the portable market released Megaman Dr wily’s revenge (also known as rockman world in Japan) for the gameboy. The game was a best shop and it America snached the game up right when it came out.PLOT: Megaman isn’t know for it’s “detailed plots” and that’s the same case here. The plot is Dr Wily sends his old robot masters from megaman 1 to contend with our hero megaman. Those robot masters are iceman, fireman, cutman, and elecman. After that he heads to Dr Wily’s castle to fight 4 more robot masters from megaman 2 (but wthout playing through their stages) bubbleman, heatman, flashman, and quickman. When megaman finally defeates those 4 robots he faces Enker, a robot desined by Dr Wily where it’s only objective is to destroy megaman (megaman killer). Last you confront the evil sientist Dr. Wily and bring peace back to the world once again.GAMEPLAY: Megaman Dr. Wily’srevenge is pretty much the same as it’s NES counterparts. You can play any of the 4 robot master stages in any order you want. There is also a numerous amount of enemys that are in each of the 4 stages as well as the wily stages. Some enemys will randomly drop items that will replenish megaman’s health, give him an extra life, and even replenish his wepon energy. The whole game works like rock, paper, sissors. A robot master is.
