Fantasy Life is probably the best game out for the 3DS right now. Want to fight some monsters? You can do that! Want to decorate your house? Craft the furniture yourself! Feeling hungry? Whip up some food! Need better armor? Forge or sew it! You can do all this while being narrated by a butterfly with sass.

This was the hands-down best game ever made for the Nintendo 3DS. I have every Nintendo platform gaming console ever made, hand-held and otherwise and I have played nearly every game made for each platform, because hand-held gaming is what I do to get through panic attacks or to reward myself for work well done. And I work hard. This game, like I said, was the best ever made for this platform. Period.Hundreds of hours of play time, a story line that (while it can be heavy text-wise) was truly original and beautiful, characters you can’t help but fall in love with (including your own) and ENDLESS possibilities for lives, careers, looks, clothing, housing – you name it. Why they decided to go to another platform for the second game is so far beyond me, it’s in another universe. It broke my heart. I would pay twice what I paid for this one for a second Fantasy Life. Hell, I would pay four times as much for Fantasy Life 2 for the 3DS. I would pay a fortune. Because that’s what it would be worth to me. I just can’t say enough about this game.

Amazing game. It’s a mix of Zelda and Animal Crossing. You can pick a class that suits your play style. I’m a grown man and I just find it addicting. Recommended for all ages.

Best game ever!! I honestly haven’t found a game that was this engaging and fun in a long time. They don’t make "adventure" games quite like they used to. The closest thing I can compare it to is like a cross between the Final Fantasy job-system, Animal Crossing game play, and all sorts of freedoms that keep you playing for hours. At first, I thought this game was going to be a little too "cutesy" for my taste, but after the few minutes, I was hooked. There can be a little too much dialogue at times (lots of reading), but it’s worth it! The characters are all so defined and unique, the dialogue is super hilarious a majority of the time, interesting enough story line, so much customization of your character and their Life, and wonderful graphics. I can’t say enough good things about this game, but for someone who was a little skeptical at first, this is definitely a top favorite of mine. BUY IT!

My daughters and I love this game. We get to hang out together and play as any role we choose.

Man I love this game. Spent over 170 hours finishing up the endgame content (with DLC) and still haven’t done everything I can in it. The character designs are cute. I’ve heard a lot of people criticize the story, as it’s kind of cheesy and there’s a lot of reading, but the humor really meshes with mine and I thought it was endearing. For those who wouldn’t like the story, it’s only a small portion of the content. The main draw for me was variety. I’m the type of person who, when playing an RPG, makes a bunch of different characters of different classes to experience them all. Here you can experience each class (Life) on one character. Be a blacksmith and make equipment for yourself and become a paladin or a mercenary. Take up carpentry and make high level bows and staves, etc. The classes flow together nicely and you can switch at any time, except during specific parts of story missions. The multiplayer aspect is great too. Normally I avoid online games, as I’m not a competitive person and many of them are like that, but here you can invite another friend to join your world or you join theirs and run around together killing things, completing stuff you need to do, trading items, etc.If a sequel ever comes out, I’m pre-sold on it. Level-5 and the other devs did a fantastic job.

I bought this for my nephew as a Christmas Gift. No complaints.

This is my new favorite game! I love games that allow you explore and interact with the environment, collect items, and build a character. This game satisfies all of this and more! You can pick the life you want to lead (your job, basically), gain experience, collect items, and satisfy small quests. When you’re tired of that, you can select a whole new life for your character and start again while keeping all the skills you learned with your last Life! As you gain more experience or try new Lifes, the way you interact with the game changes so you can do new things and go to new places.I only gave it 4 stars because the actual story line of the game is incredibly lame and boring. BUT, you don’t have to follow it much and mostly you can do what you want. Going through the different levels for each Life and gaining experience is a lot of fun and it has a ton of small tasks and quests that I found to be more interesting than the main story line. That’s what gives is so much replay value.I highly recommend this to people who like SIM games.

This is a definitely a great game, you might easily spend 100+ hours on it. Each life you can choose in the game seems pretty different from each other. Cons: the main story is a little short, and no strong enemies stand in your way in the story (they appear in the challenges of your life.) This is sad because once you finish the short main story, you just level up in new lives without enjoying the great interactions among characters in the main story. It would be great if the story can be extended in some DLC. Also, I really wish there is family and/or love components, as there are cute characters in the game. But there are none. Still, this is a great game, I just wish it could be even greater.
