Guitar Hero Encore Rocks the 80s brings all the fantastic songs of the 1980s to the Guitar Hero world. If you’re a fan of this era of music, you will be in music heaven!First, let me admit that I adore all of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games. I think it’s amazing that you can play along with songs you love, learn real life singing skills, and play with friends and family who don’t normally play video games. These series are amazing. You could complain that they didn’t change the gameplay – but really, this is meant as a booster pack of songs. You get the same general characters, the same general gameplay, the same graphics and sound as the previous level. You only get one character to unlock. You get 8 songs in play mode but to unlock any others you have to go through Career mode. All together you get about 30 songs. I love many of these songs so to me it’s worth it.Now here’s the trade-off. With modern Rock Band / Guitar Hero games you can get a new song to add in for about a buck a song. With this one we can assume you probably already had the regular Guitar Hero song. You’re getting another 30 songs for MORE than a buck a song – and you’re being forced to buy them in a “package” that includes songs you might not like.Still, the PS2 didn’t have a healthy online system like the PS3 or XBox side did so they didn’t have the ability to easily add on songs. For PS2 players this really was the only option to add in new songs to their set. It also meant that players who didn’t l.

This is pretty much exactly what I hoped it would be: More songs for Guitar Hero 2, and – for me personally – songs I like better and songs that seem to be cooler to play. So that’s great. The bad news is that this game has exactly the same flaw as Guitar Hero 2: When you get stuck on a song, there isn’t a good way to move on. I just blasted through the first 20 (or so) songs on expert mode and only had to repeat 3 or 4 of them. No problem there at all. And then, all of a sudden, one of the songs I just could not get through. Not sure whether it is a balancing issue, actually. It might just be that it is a song that for some reason is hard for me (and might be easy for others). But in any event: I now probably spend 3/4 of my time with this game on this one song that I do not like and cannot do. And I have no way to get passed it, since I have to complete it to unlock more songs. This very issue means that you might end up spending the vast majority of your time with this game on a song you do not like. Bummer.Other than that, this is the same Guitar Hero that we have come to love. It is a great game, and in the big picture, the issue I describe above is not a deal breaker. But I wish they gave me a few wildcards or perhaps unlock one more track after I tried 20 times, or something like that, to remove the frustration…

The game was brand new/never opened and played great. I was so excited about it that I beat the game the day it came in. Haha

Just got this and I love the song selections. I dont want to give away my age, but the songs remind me of The Big Hair Bands and new sounds comin out. I’m a die hard Blues and Rock Fan and this is “totally awesome”.

This game appears to be easy at first but I am failing songs on Hard and have just a few racked up for Extreme. It’s got a great song selection if you are a fan of 80s music. It’s a good game. Graphics and concepts much more simple but still very fun.

The disc is in great condition. It functions properly and nothing is wrong with it. There is a missing piece from the case but it does not effect the game at all. Great deal, highly recommend buying.
