I bought this game not really knowing what to expect. I got it knowing that there was fighting and romance, which are two things I was looking for. When I started playing this I couldn’t put it down. I loved how it was, loosley based on history. I love history. I absolutly LOVE the fact I get to chose whom the main character will end up with. This is pretty much the first game I got for my psp and I will be measuring all games to this game. I would absolutly love to play more games like this, If anyone knows some great games with romance simmilar to this please let me know.

Best purchase I had made in a long time. The quality of this game is very high. The story is a bit awkward at some points, but not nearly as bad as other games in the genre. I got really attached to the characters, and the art and music are absolutely gorgeous.

People may think this game is only about romance but most of the story line is about a war which can bring many sad scenes into the game. The only downside I think is the music. Some scenes are long (which is good) but the music will be looped several times. Other than that I love that they left the voice actors in Japanese because frankly English voice actors can be pretty bad. This is mainly due to companies picking celebrities over professional voice actors but I digress. The art is beautiful. They characters are amazing and developed. I really hope that others will BUY this game to show support to the companies and this will hopefully encourage them to translate more to English. There are a few people complaining that is mostly text but what is wrong with some reading? When you want to buy a game you should do some research on it before buying. The limited edition is worth the 10$ just for the art book. Hope there will be more games from Otomate and Idea factory!

So, I purchased this game expecting it to play out exactly like the otome/eroge games portrayed in animes but I find that its more reading a story than making choices. I haven’t played much of the game but it definitely isn’t what I expected. It’s very pretty and has an interesting story but I really wanted to have a lot more choices in the storyline.

I bought this game off the PSN (so I could play it on my Vita when I get it) and I have been very satisfied with my purchase. Gaming has always been about the story and the characters to me and this game, while lacking in actual gameplay, has that. As you make your choices, you learn more and more about each of the characters, fleshing out the story and learning more about what the time period was like. The story takes quite a few liberties, combining supernatural elements with historical events. The artwork and the music is so beautiful, I’m actually considering buying the limited edition of the game off of retrolio just for the art book and the soundtrack. The game has a very handy rewind/fast forward option so you can replay certain events or fast forward through the text you already read if you choose to go back and choose a different option.Disclaimer: This is a very text heavy game. If you don’t like reading, don’t buy it. If you think you would be bored making choices and then reading the outcome (similar to a choose your own story book), this game is not for you.Edit (2/25): You can’t play the game on the Vita yet but according to Aksys games, they are working on getting it approved by Sony.

Let me just say that the game is to be enjoyed mostly by anime/manga lovers. You would appreciate the Japanese language and english subtitles like a dream. The game really isn’t a game to be fair. You make choices and have the option to choose what ending you get. Each decision literally could mean life or death. Some of the romances have a depressing outlook but some are very sweet. Of course i looked up the history of the game because i wanted to get more knowledge. This happens to be an anime and a manga based on the actual Shinsengumi. The characters turn out like the ending of their lives. I suggest looking at the characters on Wikipedia and trying the different endings because it literally draws you in.

I’m from the Philippines, yes, I pre-ordered my own copy of the Limited version at retrolio.com. I was really excited when I first heard that this game will be released in English. I really, really thought that it was going to take a long time to be completed (or much worse, discontinued). I’m really glad that Askys did a wonderful job of pulling through this game and I think it was worth all the effort. As for retrolio.com. I got my package in just 4 days. The box itself had a dent at the side when I received it, personally I didn’t mind that at all. The items inside remained unscathed, which was more important to me. Thank you so much for that! The Artbook was a huge plus for me. Since I love collecting them. ;)Its a wonderful visual novel. I’m glad they didn’t change the dub to English (which would be a shame if they did, in my opinion). Story wise, the translation was smooth (there were a few mis-spelled words which I really didn’t mind) and as accurate as it can be. I really took my time to enjoy this game, I do enjoy replaying it too. Thank you Askys for a job well done and I think it shows, since there have been overwhelmingly good reviews about this game!I would like to believe that this is just the first step in producing more English Otome games. If there will be, I’m there to support it.
