This game is brilliant, especially considering it’s age! Fantastic game. If you like Bioware’s other stuff, you’ll really enjoy this one too.

It’s a great game, what can i say? i wish the end didn’t feel so rushed, and that playing as a bad guy had a greater difference in the plot, but hey, game and learn.

If games like Knights of The Old Republic and Mass Effect and their "potential for good or evil" style of role-play are your cup of tea, then this is one game that you should definitely pick up. (It’s backwards compatible on the 360, and cheap to acquire. Well worth it.) Almost identical to KOTOR in every respect (game mechanics, play style, and general awesomeness) but the excellent soundtrack and motion-captured combat styles combine to make the battle sequences far more exciting and fun to watch.

This is one of the best games ever made, it’s definitely worth picking up. This game can actually be played on the xbox 360 if you install an online update, which is nice. I really wish Bioware would remake this or make a sequel, I would buy the crap out of that. This is essentially Dragon Age, but set in east asian medieval folklore rather than european medieval folklore.

It’s aged marvelously. The writing, the dialogue, the plot, outstanding. Yes it’s too short as many have pointed out, but that’s certainly preferable to a game feeling too long. What stuck out for me was how vibrant, deep and "alive" the characters were, the wide array of choices to make to draw one to repeat playthroughs, and I reiterate, the quality of the writing itself: remarks from your companions and opponents stick with you and make you think, and the diction is flowery, poetic, and "wordy," without being pedantic or stilted. It’s all very natural, and beautiful, and you feel pulled into another world, a very charming, colorful one.My only complaint in this area is that "Closed Fist" is essentially pure evil. It’s basically a path to take for giggles after you’ve played through "Open Hand" once or twice. I got started with Closed Fist on this playthrough assuming that it would simply be a selfish, power-hungry path as it’s billed to be, different than the "Dark Side" in the KOTOR games, but the Closed Fist path is truly one in which your character is one dark, sadistic SOB, and I found myself changing back to Open Palm pretty early on. I wish they had gone a different route with the Closed Fist path. The combat is fun, but a little button mashy, particularly by modern standards. Having played through KOTOR and part of KOTOR II, the more turn-based, tactical system they employed better fared the test of time; however, I couldn’t ha.

Jade Empire is one of the best games to come out this year, and it did just about everything right. I have very few gripes and so on a scale of 1-10 I would give it more of a 9.5. I rate on a couple of categories when deciding the rating of a game, so it’s easy to follow the review. So read on if you want my full opinion.Video: Firstly, the graphics. The graphics throughout the entire game are very pretty and pleasing to the eye, the Jade Empire is a fun world to look at and the character models are beautiful and not duplicated often. The lighting in the game is more than adequate for a game like this, there are shadows for about every object in the game. The only bad thing I can say is that sometimes when talking the character animations can get a little jerky or awkward sometimes (You might have to wait for a character to turn around or something as such, which is woefully slow sometimes). However, the combat animations look smooth as silk and move exactly how you want them to.Audio: The audio in Jade Empire is very impressive as well. The music completely immerses you within the world of the Empire, and it definitely breathes a large component of the combat in Jade Empire, you just feel like whistling some of the tunes that you get when you’re ripping out the ribs of an ogre. The sound effects in the game are also done well, the kicks and punches and flips and rolls sound real when you’re dancing around an enemy you’re right about to bop a good one in the face. And, as i.

From the people who brought us Knights of the Old Republic comes another genre-blending game with a fabulously twisting plot. If you own an Xbox, you should own this game. It is not only the best Action RPG on the Xbox but one of the best RPGs played in recent memory. For those who have played KOTOR, this game will be instantly familiar. At the offset, you pick a character and are thrust into a world of moralities. Unlike KOTOR, the morality system is a little more complex for the most part. Instead of focusing on good and evil, your character has the choice of being endlessly helpful, understanding and tolerant of everyone (in other words believes in the power of the human spirit) or someone who reveres strength. As an example of this strength concept, there is a decision early on about a dam that is open and has caused problems for a town because the sailors are land locked. A wine merchant wants the dam to remain open so he can make a killing off of the sailors. If you follow the Way of the Open Palm you would probably close the dam so that the town can prosper in what is should be doing. If you follow the Way of the Closed Fist, on the other hand, would decide that if the town were strong they will survive this current hurdle and that it is only that, a hurdle. It gets a little more tricky than that and does open some areas for roleplaying your character and deciding what you would really do in that situation. Bioware is also wonderful at making you think about.

My purchase of Jade Empire was solely due to my love of BioWare’s best known title, Knights of the Old Republic. I was concerned that I might not be so engrossed without the Star Wars factor, but I was quickly sucked into this game.As someone who might have only recently thought to describe herself as a gamer, I am sorely lacking in the controller skills one might expect a real-time combat system to require. I was pleasantly surprised to find Jade Empire’s combat more than accessible; I’d be so bold as to say I was quickly kicking major kung-fu butt :-). Seriously, the variety of styles, both in types (Martial, Weapon, Magic and Support) and the sheer number of available styles, made the fighting beautiful to see, and although there are no complex button combinations, the Harmonic Combinations, while never necessary to defeat an opponent, allow the player to rain especially gory death on his or her enemies. The storyline just rocks. The larger, overarching action constantly beckons the player to continue, and the romance subplots are one feature significantly improved over KotOR, in my opinion. Both male and female PCs have more than one character available for love, and one’s chosen can be converted to the PC’s philosophic path, or suffer the consequences. As (I admit it) a sappy girl when it comes to romance, I found this aspect of the game contributed significantly to my immersion in the plot. This game can be beaten in a little over 20 hours easily, but the game exp.
