I bought this game in November 2002 and quit playing it in January with one level to go, plus a secret level. The reason why I quit is because I just couldn’t beat that final level. And I had it on "easy". I got a hint from someone on how to beat it (where to stand, etc.) and I finally did beat it last week when I tried it again.Even if I had never beat the final level, this game would still get 5 stars from me. It’s fun, a challenge, the graphics are superb, the sound is wonderful, and I love the characters (esp. Legolas) you can play, the fight combos (once you get them down), and the gameplay itself. There are parts of the game that really "kicked my tail", but it was great when I managed to beat those parts. My only complaint is when you beat the secret level and get the secret character, his level is just the same secret level again. I would’ve liked to have had a special level just for him. But it is cool to be able to then play the secret character in all the levels.I also would’ve loved it if I could’ve moved the characters around more – do more exploring rather than being stuck on a set path. But the game is still the best I’ve ever played and I’m really looking forward to ROTK.

Whole game is based upon this sentence.I do not remember that I killed so many creature so rapidly. Let’s start from the beginning. The game starts from the scene of’Last alliance of Elves and Men’,as you gain control of the Isildur-who is the hero and the betrayer of all the races of middle-earth-you notice that the figthing scenes are equal to the movie. Then game give you the role of Aragorn,Isildur’s heir and the future king of Gondor, and you play the weathertop level as the second training level. Then the game starts. I must say that I’ve never seen such fighting dinamics, such fighting moves and such cool characters. The story is a bit different from the movie-for building-up more fighting levels-and controls are hard to get used. But once you are capable to move your character correctly, you will start to enjoy the regions and the gameplay. The character models are awesome,as two uruk-hai usually not the same. The voices are from the original actors. The figthing moves are also from the actors.which made them more valuable to see.The score is also from the movie. The fihting scenes,as I said before, are the heart of this game.specially on Helm’s Deep, you can see at least 30 uruk-hai together.and every character has their own moves to clean up this mess!It making you feel as you are really in a war.You must use you reflexes and eye-hand coordianiton just to stay alive when you’re moving in Helm’s Deep. And It is a worthy thing to see,and live…

I am a LOTR geek, seen the movie in the thearters 8 times, including the time i went twice in one day, got the movie on DVD the day it came out, and watched 3 times since. it is11:19am thursday 8. ok; you get to be gimli, legolas, or aragorn. you battle orcs, you can interact with other carracters, and: secret bonus: on the special features disk, click more then go to the very bottom, it should have a little preview of this game. thanxs for listening!~bye~

Video games based on movies have always suffered, “The Curse”. The curse that plauges movie tie in games that makes them awful to anyone but the most devoted fans. Seeing the pictures of this game early in development, if finially seemed that it would break that curse. Did it? Well, yes, but just barley. The Two towers starts off very well, using the prolouge footage from the first movie to tell the story of the ring. When we get to the battle of Mount Doom, you take on the role of Isildiur fighting orcs, and trying to stay alive. This scene does a good job of introducing the player to the concepts of gameplay, such as fierce attack, and the vital parry move. After that, you play as Aragorn on Weathertop, wielding off the Ringwraiths and protecting Frodo. Here, you must learn the Parry move, which will save you… many times over. Then the game goes into full swing, and the action begins. The Gameplay for the Two Towers is pure hack-n-slash. you go through a linear path, hacking up enimies, and…well…uh… hacking up more enimies! After the level is over, you are given points that you can spend to purchuse new skills and combos, along with other things such as more health, and better bows and arrows. The game does very well in this section. The graphics and sound are easily the high point of the game. The visuals are top notch, and the charachters are very detailed. They look exactly like thier movie counterparts (Except for Gimli during the FMV scenes). They a.

Many a time in the past has the concept of a game based on a movie been attempted. Most of them have been shot down, but those few that made it were something to watch. Lord of the Rings falls into that category. The game puts you in the world of Middle Earth as one of the three characters: Gimli, Legolas, and Aragorn. Each character has his own weapon and special moves he can execute in the heart of war. The graphics in the game are spectacular. Each level begins with a clip from the Two Towers, and then bleeds into the video game. The transformation is barely noticible. The characters are also extreamly similar to their real life clones. The sounds is also spectacular. It contains the real voices and soundtrack from the film. The mood of the song changes in battle, which gives it a special touch. The gameplay is also fun. It is one of the few great hacking games, where one does really nothing put kill away at endless amounts of orcs. The bosses too give you the oppurtunity to add a little strategy to your play. Although my review so far makes the game seem perfect it does fall slightly short of that title. As many people have said before a 2 player addition would be great. I have also found that Gimly’s appearance isnt as smooth as the other characters. All in all the game is great and challenging and will keep your wits and inner Odysseus strolling. I easily give it 5 out of 5 stars.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, is a truly fun and amazing action game. The game takes place across the first two films, in, of course, Middle Earth. You can take take the place of Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli. All of which have their ups and downs. Legolas is the weakest character, but the fastest, utilizing his two daggers and bow. Gimli, being quite slow, is a beastly tank wielding a battle-axe and smaller axes for throwing. Aragorn lies right in the middle of the two. He uses a sword and bow. The graphics in this game are superb, everything from the character models to the tree leaves. All the characters look almost exactly like their movie counter-parts, with the exception of Gimli. He doesn’t look right, his face looks squintish and pushed in… The levels themselves have a substantial amount of detail and lighting. For instance, in the level “Balin’s Tomb” where you get the cave troll, the beam of light that shines upon the stone casket looks amazing. The levels are very closely related to the movies (well I can only tell that by looking at the first film for the second is not out yet) and I instantly recognized them. Cutscenes from the movies are integrated throughout the levels. This includes a large amount of clips from LOTR: The Two Towers. The gameplay is also very fun and has one of the best “archery systems” I’ve seen. Music from the movies is incorporated throughout the game as well. Also packed with the game are a lot of special features.

  7. Movie Nerd

The Two Towers has to be the best movie based game I’ve ever played. It has everything a fan of the movie could want. It’s like being in the movie, the graphics, detail and gameplay is just perfect. The games only problem is that it sorta rushes itself , I mean the 4th board and you’re in Moria already fighting the cave troll. Plus after that part, you’re out of Moria without even fighting the Belrog or even seeing it in a cut movie seen for that matter. Think they cut that out because you can’t play as Gandalf and since he’s a big part of that part it wouldn’t make sense I guess to play it without being him. Speaking of the cut scenes it’s great how it jumps from the actual live action scenes in the movie to the games version of those scenes before each level. Well anyway it’s too bad you can’t be Gandalf, as that’d be pretty cool. Can’t be Frodo either but I’m glad because all through the Moria scene you hear nothing but Frodo whining stuff like "help me Gandalf", so he’s pretty wimpy, lol. You can be Aragorn, Legolis or Gimli though. All in all this game is pretty fun but hard too as you have so many orcs coming at you at once. I read a review that said the game is too short and that you can beat it in 5 hours. Well you have to be really good to beat this game in one day as it’s really challenging.

  8. Hell Spawn

I have to say this game all in all rules. The graphics kick azz, there are lots of combos and stayes with the story, unlike Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the rings on PS2, xbox, and pc. You can fight as Gimli, Aaragorn, Legolas, and the secret character Isildur (who is also the opening character you play as). And the Battle at Helms Deep Is challenging at times. But the game has 1 default, it is too short. I rented this game and in about 2 1/2 hours I beat it., But I rented it again cause of the fighting and that I wanted to get a perfect rating on all the levels with all the characters. This is a good game all in all but it should be longer. If you don’t plan on playing games again after you beat them then this isn’t a good buy, just rent it.
