A revamp of an old classic, that is very well received. I love this game, and as a player of the game it is clearly based on (Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals for SNES), they have done a great job with this remake. The storyline is loosely the same as Lufia 2 for SNES, but the game mechanics, and the party/character development is great! The combat system has kept the open feel of Lufia, but strayed away from the Turn Based monotony of it’s predecessors. The game offers high amounts of challenge without feeling like an insurmountable quest. Definitely worth adding to the collection of RPG’s for Nintendo DS!

An amazing that grace the system. It has one of the most beautiful story and intriguing combat system. The quality is there for anyone who is willing to give the series a try.

I liked this game but…I wanted to LOVE it. I have been a fan of the Lufia series since they first hit our shores back in 1993. I still have my original Lufia and Lufia 2 for the SNES in their original boxes, maps and all! (I have the gameboy color title too) Now, don’t get me wrong, there are so many things that this game does right, but it could have been so much more. First I’ll get the bad out of the way. My biggest gripe?…WTF is up with Maxim???? He looked WAY cooler in the original! His slicked back hair older look set him apart from other JRPG heroes. NOW he looks like your typical 17 year old Japanese teenage spiky haired protaganist who saves the world, but is home before dinner. And a leather jacket? Why??? Oh well, at least the other characters look cool. My other problem with the game is the lack of a world map. It just makes the game go by way too fast, and it just feels like something is missing. I mean, I’m a single dad working 12 hour shifts a day and I beat the game in a week! That’s too easy! That’s another thing, the game is too short! The original took me at least a month to beat!(Granted I wasn’t as good at games back then, but STILL…!) And last but not least…(SPOILERS!!!!!)(SPOILERS!!!!!!) I liked how Selan died before Maxim had to stop Doom Island in the original. It made it much more dramatic and sad that Maxim had to save the world alone and then die alone. I dunno, it just feels like something was lost in this new version..

Lufia, that’s a name gamers that started from the 1990’s know about, and most gamers today don’t have a clue of what Lufia is at all. It was a game w/ an innovative turn-based battle system, story line that made us play more to further understand what Maxim and the rest are trying to do to save the world, and puzzles that went from child’s play to almost-rubik’s cube hardness (not really). I fell in love w/ this game when it came out on the SNES, and I still love that awesome nostalgia that any SNES rpg gives. Now, Lufia all started with the game called, Lufia & the Fortress of Doom, with the characters playing the end of Maxim’s adventure and then playing the rest of the game w/ Maxim’s “nameless” descendent. After that, there was Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals, with the character actually playing the character Maxim and his friends and their adventure to defeat the Sinstrals from destroying the world. The game, Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals, is the second game of the series w/ Maxim and his friends. The game was revamped from the old 2D SNES version to the DS, and they did a great job from it.Here’s what has changed w/ the new version:The graphics are of DS quality, but very good and surprisingly detailed for the two small screens on the DS for a game this big.The composer from the original games, Yasunori Shiono, came back and redid all of the music, and basically remixed all of the BGM. Still sounds classic, but with a new feel to it.The gameplay went from a traditi.

I’m a die hard Lufia 2 fan. this game held true to the spirit of it’s parent. Rebooting this game is a dream come true for me. keeping the whole puzzle game concept and just changing the combat system is a huge win. love it.

Again, this is another present that I purchased for my son for Christmas. He has had this on his list for quite awhile.
