This is probably the best game on the vita. The graphics, sound, and gameplay are great!!!!!! This game has kept me entertain for hours on end with delight. If you like games like REZ, Space Channel 5 and, other rhythm games Lumines is a must add to your collection.

I would recommend Lumines: Electronic Symphony to any Vita owner or future owner. Its a solid music based tetris style game that can easily turn into a time sink, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. You may have seen last year’s reviews complaining about the $40 price, but at the current price point, 9.99 – 12.99, its definitely worth it.Myself, I have only spent time in voyage mode over the past few days and its the reason why I can only rate this as a 4 rather than 5. This mode’s preset playlist can not be changed, period. So while you may start off with a song you like on each playthrough, you can not skip songs that you hate. There is one disorienting song in particular that I have not passed yet and its making me so angry since its about 30 mins in to each run, every other song fits the game fine imo.But don’t take the time aspect of the previous comment as a 100% con. I have noticed that 30 mins while playing this goes by very quickly. I have put more hours in to this one game than all of my vita games combined (though I have owned the vita for about a week now and have 4 other games for the system). Outside of my experience with a single mode, there are 4-5 other modes you can play, and one that allows you to modify your playlist. All in all, a definite recommendation.

Before we go into this review, let me ask a few questions.Do you now, or have you ever, owned a PSP?If yes, then do you now, or have you ever, played Lumines 1 or 2? Or both?If yes, did you enjoy it?If yes, your dilemma is over. Buy this game. You are so very welcome. Have fun!If you’ve missed out on Lumines, allow me to ask another question:You DO know what Tetris is, yes?Of course you do.Lumines is a LOT like Tetris in principal, just… decidedly more musical. Unlike Tetris, where the goal is to form complete rows to eliminate them for points, Lumines has you forming single color blocks, and chaining them together for larger combos, all set to rhythmic electro-pop beats and trippy visual effects. You can also unlock player icons, but these are far from just giving you a face in online play; they also apply certain abilities, from randomizing incoming and existing block patterns to outright controlling (albeit briefly) what sorts of blocks you get. They apply in Single player as well, and in order to recharge the abilities, you must be good enough to not fail the stage as the powers regenerate with each cleared block. The game is smooth, the music is addicting, and it’s almost dangerous to play this on a bus; you may very well miss your stop! The series was born along with the PSP, and it is only fitting that a new installment was there to help ease the Vita past its difficult arrival into the market. If you own a Vita, you can be assured that this is an absolutely quality ti.

I had purchased Lumines with the PSP, and so I purchased Lumines again when I purchased the Vita. The game is pretty much the same as the PSP’s version. There are some online components added to it, but at its core, it’s still the same fun fast paced puzzle game with a great soundtrack.

Amazing game. Maybe the best in the series? Well the best mobile entry for sure. Way better than Tetris!

  6. AC

I don’t know why, but I couldn’t get into Lumines for the PSP. I decide to try this one based on video previews and the soundtrack and this game has exceeded expectations.Once you get the hang of playing this game is never ending fun. Things will start to click for you eventually how to work certain patterns and next thing you know you’ll be continuously reaching the later levels. This is by far my most played Vita game. For those who started off with the launch PS3’s and played Super Stardust HD all the time, this is how it is for Lumines on Vita. It’s the only game you want to play.

  7. TEVIN C.

This is my 1st Lumines game so i didn’t know quite what to expect, but from the minute it started and the game automatically loaded leader boards based on my friend list and i heard the music start i immediately liked it. The best comparison for this game is what some people would call a tetris “clone” but its better than that. Its what tetris would be like if they redid it from the ground up maybe but its definitely not tetris (in my opinion). A very nice looking, bright colorful game like most other Vita games and even though im not a fan of the music used away from playing this game i still like it very much in the game itself. Definitely a game most people with a Vita would like and everyone with a Vita should check out and if the price point is too high for you at least wait for a price drop. To me its worth every penny for a game that feels more like an experience than just dropping some colored blocks. The music, sound effects, visual effects and easy controls set this game apart from the othersPSN (onedjchiszle)

Awesome game love it!!! Like a modern day Tetris can’t go wrong 🤙🏼

  9. Adam D. Golden

Easily one of my favorite puzzle games. It has several game types and is easy for all skill levels to jump in. As skill increases you learn how to leverage combos, avatar abilities, and specialty blocks to maximize your points and blocks deleted.this game is great for casual play (thanks to the vita’s sleep/resume functions) or for long duration. Several game modes offer challenging and continuous play.

This is a really cool game that can be highly addictive. The playing mechanics are quite simple. You get a block, each corner of the block is 1 of 2 colors. You try to match the colors to the blocks that are already on the screen to create blocks that have all 4 sides the same color. That’s it. There is a line that goes from left to right that matches the beat of the song that is playing, faster song means faster line. The sound track has some great songs in it and this game can keep you going for quite some time. The only reason I took off a star was the fact that the songs always play in the same order, I would have liked a shuffling of the songs so each play through would be different.
