I bought my PS2 primarily to play this beautiful game. I’ve been playing Madden since 2000 on the PC. It’s only been 2 years since that release, but there is very little resemblance between the two games. The evolution of Madden series onto the PS2 format is one of the most exciting things in sports video games. Here are the specifics:AI- There are AI slider settings for almost everything you’d want to control (off awareness, QB accuracy, def interception, kickoff length, etc). I find that the AI is extremely strong, especially the defensive players. One real treat this year is getting turnovers on defense. When you take control of the secondary, you can actually increase the chance of making a key interception. I love playing defense this year. One note, I only play on All-pro setting, because the speed ratings are almost meaningless on All-madden. Also, the default all-pro setting is too easy so I’ve had to do some extensive slider tweaking.Gameplay- Because of the extensive AI slider settings, you can make the gameply fit to whatever suits your style.Running game- One major problem I see is that running draw plays from the shotgun is a sure 3-4 yard loss. One critical improvement for next year would be an improved running game, where the RB can actually bounce off engaged blockers and make cutbacks. But for the most part, I love the running game because there is great depth. You have to master the intricacies in order to have a successful running attack. One oth.

With only a few slight problems, this is a very good game. Let’s start off with the good…-Madden Cards: These rock. I admit I felt the best NFL game was the NFL 2k series, until I played and used Madden Cards. The opportunity to use historic teams and players is a great idea! It adds a different element to the game which I enjoy.-NFL re-alignment: I really liked the fact that they included the new alignment for the 2002 season and beyond. the addition of the Houston Texans was cool, but I truly like being able to see what the league will look like next year.-Depth: This game has depth and then some. You not only draft players, you juggle the salary cap, sign free agents, re-sign current players, etc… I don’t see how much deeper you can go than this!-Graphics: Of course they are great! The movements are fluid, the bodies are realistic… everything a modern gamer could want in a football game. I do wish they showed more of the stadiums and I wish that, when you win the SuperBowl there was more of a celebration to it (more graphics and done in cinema mode would be cool) rather than simply being carted off the field, but these are minor things. The BAD…-Passing and Running: I’ve found passing is quite difficult and running seems to be quite easy. Maybe it’s just me, but I have a very hard time completing passes while I seem to run for over 200 yards/game on a regular basis.-Defensive line: The defensive line rush is almost non-existant. I usually play one of.

I started playing Madden way back in the Sega Genesis days. Since then I have upgraded to PS1 and now PS2. Every year I am impressed with the progress of this game. I always have a hard time letting go of the last year’s but it quickly I’m always impressed by the new version.

Quick List of Reasons to Buy this Game:1. Graphics: The graphics are better than any other NFL video game.2. Training Mode: John Madden teaches you the plays! How great is that?3. Create-a-Team: With over 50 logos, you can create any team with nearly any name you want. You say you don’t live in an NFL city? Not to worry. In Madden 2002, your city can be a contender for the Super Bowl! That’s awesome.4. Commentary: There isn’t anything better than hearing Pat Summerall and John Madden calling a game YOU are playing.5. Cheerleader Cards: Tasteful Madden cards meant to whip up the crowd. BUT, you have to earn them. (Darn.)OVERALL: No other NFL-based football game is as good as Madden 2002.

The Graphics are wonderful, and I love the gameplay. This is the best game I’ve ever Played for any Game console, It just doesn’t get boring. I’ve owned and played so many other games, not just on game consoles, but also computer, and this tops them all. By this I mean, I’ve played this game more than I’ve ever Played any other game Before, and Im still loving it, and it seems every season in my franchise, the computer gets harder. If you Don’t play the game on Madden(skill level), the computer (experience is bad), and is predictible. On Madden(skill level, hardest level) he mixes it up. the computer is smarter in this game then in any other football game I’ve ever played. (…) We’ve had the game for four months and we have been through 5 seasons(7 minute games, so our players get in leader rankings, and makes more realistic), and it gets better every season. I don’t know what we would do without this game. the youngest of us three is 17, so its great for all ages, assuming it would be better for the younger age groups(which is probably true). Don’t buy any other football game before you buy this game, it would be a waste of money. (OH, if you got a old TV, all sports games in game play look kinda blurry, gotta get High Def, looks so real). Once my Father walked in the room on a sunday, and sat down to wacth the game, thinking it was actually a sunday football game(no joke). All you need is madden 2002 to make your life complete. If possible, Just buy it for PS2, I have.

This game is definetly one of a kind. Every aspect in the game is a blast. You can do things from as simple as play a scrimage, to have your own fantasy team, make your own custom team, 2 minute drill, training mode, and much more. There is one feature that I particularly liked. This was the Madden Cards. These were cards that you would recieve for completing a Madden challenge during a game. These challenges were as easy as complete a 30 yard pass to as hard as record 2 safties in one game, or gain 200 yards passing with two different players in one game. The game has around 100 challenges. Once you complete a challeng, you get points. Once you get 100 points, you can buy a pack of cards. Then, you can use the cards during games. The packs are filled with mostly actual player crads, and some special cheat cards. The actual player cards give you ratings boosts and the cheat cards give you special advantages such as unlimited field goal range for the half. Another amazing aspect to this well-rounded game is the instant replays. Playing a 10 minute game takes me about a half an hour because I am always spending time watching my the replay. When you watch the replays, you can control everything. You control the speed and the camara. Also, if you have a bone-crushing tackle, or a cirus-like catch, and want to show your frineds, you simply save the replay and you have it to show anytime you want. After some plays, the game goes into an automatic replay, which I love becuase they.
