MH3U is a phenomenal game. Great monsters and equipment to match. Underwater combat isn’t so bad, and a lot of people would actually like to see it come back with improved controls.

I have played the Monster Hunter games since the release of Monster Hunter Freedom 2 back in August of 2007. This title has come a very long way from it’s predecessors. Everything from user interface to weapon classes (11 total, including old favorites), to updated moves for old monsters and new monsters to fight, this game is so much fun. Playing alone can be a little discouraging or off putting, but playing with at least one person makes a world of a difference, and will make the game three times more enjoyable. I have to share a word of caution for new players: This game has a high learning curve, meaning it may take a few hours before you start getting the gist of how everything works together. Once you get past that, it only gets better. Worth buying!

Awesome Adventure game. I love pretty much everything about this game, except the fact that you need a Circle pad pro to play effectively. If you do not use one, you will have a really rough time fighting anything underwater. You have minimal control on your camera without it. Aside from that though, this is one of my favorite games on my 3DS. Even better with friends.

If you’ve played Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii don’t pass this one over. While they share a decent chunk of the early game, this one is probably one of the better games I’ve played on the 3DS and Wii-U. I love the ability to transfer my save from the 3DS to the Wii-U (requires app from Nintendo store). I have probably put 300+ hours into this game. If you do plan on playing this on the 3DS I would also suggest getting the circle pad pro attachment. I have fairly large hands and it makes the 3DS more comfortable to hold for long periods of time and also adds the additional amount of control, with the second analogue, that I feel improves game play.

I was not into monster hunter series. But after grabbing this game for 20 bucks I gave it a try. I was impressed for the game content, weapons, armors, quests, classes and monsters to slay and eat. Wow! I love it.

Monster Hunter is a beast of a series. While 3 is a bit more forgiving than the last Monster Hunter I played (Freedom Unite) the challenge was still there, and I enjoyed every frustrating minute of trying to find the best strategy to take out the next monster blocking my hunter rank progress! The series isn’t for everyone. You’ll have to fight the same monsters several times if you want to get the equipment to keep going, often times, needing parts from several monsters. The game is not particularly forgiving either, you get 3 tries a hunt to finish your goal. If you don’t too bad, try again without whatever equipment you used. (Of course you can abandon a quest before using all 3 tries, but you gotta give it your all!)I’m not a fan of playing in 3D, but the game itself looks great for a 3DS title. The music serves its part, but it never sticks with me.If you’re looking for a challenging time sink on your 3DS (Or Wiiu) this is a great title to go with!
