They got rid of the 2K server in this game, forcing you to buy 2K14. This means that VC is gone so there are no star players in NBA Blacktop, MyPlayer (not MyCareer) is pointless, and there are basically no online servers. 2K does this every year though in order to make you buy the most recent game. However if the only thing you like is the MyCareer function or playing quick games with friends then this is a great game.

So this is a great game and I advise any NBA fan to go get it. The gameplay is as close to perfect as any NBA game has ever gotten to. BUT one downfall is on the MyPlayer mode. They put together great ideas by letting you be interviewed by NBA GMs after your little draft game, but it missed a lot of oppurtunities. It took out the drills you do before the draft to show off what you can do. I happen to love that part because it makes you work harder to gain a top spot in the draft, instead of just playing one game. Another thing, 2K still hasn’t given us the ability to change the voice of our character. This being said, they give you contracts on MyPlayer that give you “money”, and you can actually spend this money on different features in the game! Great idea, because it makes it more realistic to wanna go somewhere who offers you more money when you are a free agent. Another thing you will notice in this game is that the music is AWFUL. I have to mute my tv when I’m on the menu sometimes… Way to go Jay Z… The new control stick controls feel great once you get used to it! Not only that, but it also LOOKS better than ever. This is a solid game, so buy this thing and have some fun! The 4 star rating is just because I don’t wanna give it 5 stars until 2K puts the extra features that I’ve been dreaming of on there. Wouldn’t be too hard. BUY THIS GAME!

I recently bought an Xbox 360 and NBA 2k13, and it’s a great hit. Some of you may have seen my thoughts about the wii version of this game, and if you haven’t, I thought it was terrible. I won’t go into detail about another product right now, but let me me tell you, this is a great improvement from the wii game. The Xbox game is so high quality, the game play is excellent, the rosters up to date, the all star feature is awesome, and the the MyCareer feature so realistic. I also think the VC (Virtual Currency) is a great addition. But I don’t see why you need to have a MyCareer and a MyPlayer. For those of you who don’t know, MyPlayer is basically customizing your imaginary player you play as in the MyCareer mode. In previous generations of this game, accessories cost nothing, but in NBA 2k13 they actually cost VC, which I think should be eliminated in NBA 2k14, which is coming out October 1.
