Nintendo New 3DS Xl – Features
Experience the first console to successfully integrate 3D into gaming without making it seem like a small gimmick. The 3DS takes everything great about the DS. It heavily builds onto them for a fantastic gaming experience. It is one of the most successful consoles that is used and loved to this day. With the 3DS XL, Nintendo packs a more robust processor, more RAM, an analog C-stick, and two additional triggers for an enhanced gaming experience. The XL also features an even larger screen than its predecessor, at an impressive 4.88 inches.
Amazing 3d Capabilities
One of the most prominent features of the console is its ability to display stereoscopic 3D effects. That, too, without using 3D glasses or additional accessories powered by the Nintendo Network. Augmented reality using its 3D cameras and Virtual Console allows you to download and play games originally released on older video game systems.
Powerful Processor
The main central processing unit is a dual-core ARM11 MPCore-based processor, which is clocked at 266 MHz. One processor core is dedicated to games and applications, while the other is exclusive to the operating system, enabling multitasking and background tasks. These tasks are handled seamlessly in the background during gameplay or while the system is in sleep mode. The system also contains a single-core ARM9-based processor, enabling backward compatibility with both Nintendo DS and DSi titles.
Outstanding Particularities
The console features two cameras capable of taking 3D photos and videos, a built-in microphone, and a lithium-ion battery with longevity between 3 and 8 hours, depending on the games you are playing. Also, you have two generous screens, the bottom being a resistive touchscreen. The system also includes 2 GB of flash memory. It can be expanded by another 2 GB through an SD card.
Nintendo 3ds Xl Console – Games
Even though it features backward compatibility with older Nintendo DS video games, the console has an impressive library. It has over 1300 fun titles to play all day!
Mario Kart 7
With almost 19 million copies sold, Mario Kart 7 is the number 1 best-selling Nintendo 3DS game. As with previous games in the Mario Kart series, players participate in racing on various Mario-themed tracks, playing as one of seventeen different Mario characters. While racing, the players use power-up items to assist their character or hinder opposing characters. New additions to the game include hang-gliding attachments for karts and the ability to drive underwater. Also, you can drive in the first person, and you have the ability to customize the vehicles’ builds fully.
Super Smash Bros 3ds
Like the rest of the Super Smash Bros. series, this is a non-traditional fighting game where players use different attacks to weaken their opponents and knock them out of an arena. The games are crossover titles that feature characters, items, music, and stages from various Nintendo franchises and several third-party franchises.
Pokemon X
Along with Pokemon Y, this is the second best-selling Nintendo 3DS game. It follows the journey of a young Pokémon trainer and friends as they train Pokémon. This time, the game takes place in the Kalos region. Which is based in France—with the objective being to thwart the schemes of the nefarious criminal organization Team Flare. X and Y introduced 72 new Pokémon species, including new features such as the new Fairy type, character customization, updated battle and training mechanics, and more.
Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time
The player controls Link in the fantasy land of Hyrule on a quest to stop the evil king Ganondorf by traveling through time and navigating dungeons and an overworld. It has features such as a target-lock system and context-sensitive buttons that have since become common in 3D adventure games. The player must learn to play numerous songs on an ocarina to progress.
Luigi’s Mansion
Take control of Luigi, equipped with the Poltergust 5000, a ghost-eating vacuum cleaner, and embark on a quest to appease the spirits of Evershade Valley and save Mario from King Boo by gathering the shards of the shattered Dark Moon. You’ll have to explore five themed mansions and solve fun puzzles to gather all the missing shards. You can also play with your friends, working together to clear each level of a haunted tower.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
One of the most relaxing games on the 2DS, Animal Crossing, has you take the role of a villager mistaken as a mayor of a town inhabited by many friendly and quirky characters. As you explore and develop the town, you can collect, buy and sell items to decorate your home and the world around you, adding several new activities to this game. As the game is open-ended, you will stay playing it for hours.

Delivery was right on time and packaging was impressive.
Foe the console, it’s perfect game console for non-gammers. I’m 28 and I don’t have much time to dedicate to Xbox, PS4 or PC games but I still enjoy video games every now and again. I mainly bought the 3DS XL for the Zelda franchise games (Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, etc.). This device is easy to pack with me on my commute to work and travels for work. When I play it I find time goes by quickly. I don’t play with the 3D function on because it hurts my eyes after 20 minutes.
Pros:• Extremely portable• Quick processing, no lag time• Decent resolution screen• Fun to use• Great battery life and sound• Awesome game selection.
Cons:• Stupid proprietary charger and charging port. You would think a micro USB would be sufficient.
I don’t care about taking 3D pictures or browsing on the web with this. I understand some kids may find this fun but I just want to open my game and play—that’s it. It’s perfect if you grew up in the 90s and want to play some of your old childhood games.
I’m really happy with the purchase. Ii ordered the blue color and received the same product. Very professional and highly recommended. Thanks, Retrov Games.
Very good
This unit immediately became my main portable console aside from my Switch when it arrived. Feels nice in my hands and is a step up from the old 3DS units. If I had to pick a favorite handheld console that’s not a Game Boy or any of the original DS models, I’d have to pick this one.
I love playing my Nintendo DS. It’s fun and you so many games to choose from. Perfect for kids and adults.
I’m not really into gaming, so I can’t compare this to older versions of the DS or other portable consoles. Honestly, I just bought this thing to play Ocarina of Time.Not-so-good things:- Charger is sold separately. It’s a minor annoyance, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.- The glossy plastic is a fingerprint magnet. I find myself constantly cleaning it.- Pixellated screens. 240p is not exactly retina-quality. Games are designed for it, so it’s not as bad as it sounds.Good things:- I thought the 3D screen would be a gimmick, but I haven’t gotten tired of it yet. In fact, I find myself wishing other displays were auto-stereoscopic.- The controls are very natural. When playing, I quickly forgot about everything except the screens and stylus. I was definitely pressing buttons as well, but that fact didn’t register.- Games are fun!Overall, I like the N3DS. I predict I will waste an unconscionable amount of time with it.
I don’t get headaches looking at the 3D screen, so for me it’s an amazing whizz-bang feature I never really get tired of. I owned one of the O3DS before it went “missing”. That thing was terrible for having to line your eyes up just right to see the 3D. The face-tracking 3D on the newer model is a godsend. Really, everything about the 3DS is really well done. I’ve been tinkering with the GPD WIN before now, and the lack of engineering acumen in GPD’s offering wasn’t really clear to me before I got my hands on Nintendo’s offering and found a metric buttload of fitting and polishing to all of the parts, a TON of software engineering into the system, and lot of attention to detail for the user’s creature comforts. And all for pretty cheap, all said and done. It’s clear what benefits are brought from massive scale of manufacturing, and having all of Nintendo’s R&D to dole out a solid handheld system like this.Except for how my system manages to corrupt SD data as often as it does; that seriously needs to stop already. Otherwise I’ve since hacked my system and set up creature comforts like FTP clients and save backup utilities, and more esoteric apps like ebook readers, a graphing calculator, and apps that let you use your 3DS as a game controller for your computer. Good stuff. All around a really solid piece of hardware and software engineering that deserves a second look, especially in light of the low price of used units in good condition as of the time of writing (mid 2019).
I bought my N3DS with full knowledge of its hardware limitations (in comparison to say, a Vita or a current gen smartphone) and made the decision to acquire it mainly because of the game library. After playing over 50 hours with it I can honestly say: the New Nintendo 3DS is a superb gaming handheld, but a long list of missed opportunities in any other department.Let me explain a little bit. As a portable gaming console the N3DS does mostly everything right. It has nice battery life, a good variety and quality in its game library and controls that, despite its clear design problems, are for the most part responsive and easy to use. However, it’s that moment when you want to do anything other than gaming that you realize just how limited it is. For instance, it took me about half an hour to realize that I can’t just load any image or video on to my N3DS as it requires all of them to keep the same naming sequence for me to view them. It also requires videos to be shorter than 10 minutes. Considering I want to see anime (around 23 minutes per episode) and movies (often times over 100 minutes long) this is really not ideal. The same goes for listening to music. You can easily load any music you want but the N3DS offers little portable controls for music. Considering you could just as easily use the N3DS external buttons (L, R, ZL and ZR) to play/pause, fast-forward and rewind tracks, it seems like no one at Nintendo even considered this to be of interest to their userbase. On the same basic line of critique I find myself constantly reloading websites like Facebook when browsing the internet because the memory won’t hold the amount of assets on the site. It’s rather silly not to consider developing a dedicated app for something as common as Facebook, Twitter, etc. I do imagine there’s a story behind that app not existing, but as far as I’m concerned is just another missed opportunity. As is most of the space designed to showcase your games and apps. If you don’t plan on downloading many games it’s very likely you won’t download much of anything at all. There are very few apps on the US Nintendo Shop and most of them don’t really seem all that useful to me. It seems like at some point, development for apps for the NA market just stopped getting any support. In conclusion, I feel that there were so many things that the N3DS could have done so much better. A bigger resolution is but a minor qualm, but better app support, better internet browsing, a dedicated media player, dedicated apps for social networking, etc. all of those seem like standard on any portable device with any level of IT. This is why I return to my statement that the N3DS seems like a long list of missed opportunities. However I only reduce 1 star regarding this issue cause I never expected the N3DS to replace a smartphone, for instance. I bought it for the games and those do not disappoint. The 3D effect is not optimal in all games but I find that in the ones that works it’s definitely more than just a gimmick. It can definitely enhance the experience in terms of visuals and control. So in general I do love my N3DS. I’m enjoying the heck out of it. But, “come on Nintendo!”. You kind of dropped the ball a bit with this one. It could have made for a pseudo-handheld computer for all general purposes, but instead it’s mediocre at best in almost anything other than gaming. In the end I can say I’m satisfied with my purchase and would recommend the N3DS to anyone I know that loves videogames. For me, the quality and types of gaming experiences exclusively available for this console is definitely its most important selling point and the main reason why someone should consider buying it. After all, the games are what make any great console great, and the N3DS definitely delivers in that department.
