This is the only game i’ve played where my girlfriend stole the controller and didn’t give it back. This is no doubt a wonderful game. It has some simple controls that allow you to sit back and watch your little minions sack and pillage the local peasants and their goods. There are 4 different types of goblin like minions to do your bidding and each one has a different ability. Your main character has some basic attacks and a few spells but its the army you control that really steal the show here. It has some well written dialogue that is humorous and witty at times. The graphics are colorful and pleasing to the eye. I don’t have really anything negative to say about this game except that it appeals to the female gender so i don’t get to play it as much as i want to. But seriously it worth experiencing for yourself. Hurry up and finish it so you can pre-order Overlord 2!

I’m not terribly far into the game.. I’ve unlocked three classes of minions so far and a few spells, but I can say that the game is fun. I’ve heard that people think the game is like Fable… and I have no idea where they’re getting that from. The controls for moving your character are a bit wonky, but you have to play the game to understand why that is. The thing that keeps the game moving is the comedy. Lots of great stuff like having your minions kill halflings (with homes that look exactly like Hobbot holes) and then wearing their hair and faces around… ok, it’s sick humor, but still good. The game is a bit simplistic, but I’m not so sure that’s bad.

This game is extremely entertaining. Which, above all else, is exactly what a video game is supposed to be. The other reviewers are correct, the game is flawed, as most games with a production budget, a shipping deadline, and a market department are. It was not shipped before it was READY, but it was shipped before it was POLISHED.First, the PROS:1.) The game is funny2.) The minions are adorable (love the random hats!)3.) The graphics are great4.) The puzzles are fairly balanced (although those freaking sea serpent battles I could have done without!)5.) You do not have to be truly evil! I was worried about this. But, a’la KOTOR, and Fable, and Jade Empire, etc. there is a path of “lesser evil” available in this game, which is basically like the character alignment of “chaotic good” in Dungeons and Dragons. In other words, you can play as a “Hero” who doesn’t follow the rules. (You can also play as a right evil bastard, if you so choose)6.) The game has a good story, and moves at a good pace, and even has a surprise twist near the end which I wasn’t expecting.7.) Production values are very nice: very good voice acting, very good music, sound effects, graphics, etc.Now the CONS:1.) No in-game map is INEXCUSABLE. I have a very good memory, and even I got turned around/lost occasionally. Without an in-game map, exploration, and finding things takes way more time than it should, and you can never be truly sure you have found everything. An in-game map in a game with explo.

Awesome game. The LotR satire is the best I’ve seen.

I really, really can’t overstate how much I enjoy this game. Perfections and imperfections all, I love this thing for it’s style, for it’s humor, for it’s constant and unnapologetic stroking of my ego. It appeals to me personally on so many levels I wouldn’t know where to begin.Which should be the first sign that it ain’t for everyone.Overlord is, at it’s heart, a fast-paced puzzle game. Yes there’s action and destruction and the slaying of creatures both creepy and cute. But real progress is made by careful placement of your four types of minions and patient exploitation of their strengths and weaknesses. Use the wrong kind at the wrong time? Yup, they’re all dead: and it’s amazing how naked and exposed your metal-clad, otherwise imposing self feels once that layer of Minions is removed between you and the enemy. You certainly can attempt a run’n’gun approach, throwing your critters at the bad guys and swinging your sword for all it’s worth but you and your Minions are surprisingly frail and the game seems to reward a more patient approach, despite the chaotic nature of the visuals. The game is far from from perfect: the Overlord moves a bit like an old Buick and more than twice I had Minions stuck on rocks and in other pieces of the environment. It’s got it’s fare share of bugs and poor animations (kick a villager and count down how long it takes him to actually fall, funny stuff) and the cut scenes look like they were thrown together in the eleventh hour with the re.

I don’t have much time to write this, so this will be short…I heard about this game some months ago and was immmediately put off when it was compared to Pikmin. While Overlord does have a Pikmin influence in that you have minions you can control to do various tasks, the similarities pretty much stop there.First off, this game isn’t “cutesy” like Pikmin is. This game is a full-on dark fantasy game full of demons, dark magic and a medieval setting. It definitely borrows a bit from The Lord Of The Rings when it comes to style, right down to “halflings” that live in little holes in the side of hills. The gameplay takes the Pikmin style of gameplay and builds on it. You can control numerous types of minions, and they themselves can be upgraded with sworda and armor they find themselves when you send them out to smash crates, treasure chests, pots and other things. They auto-equip them too, so you don’t have to waste time maintaining each minion. I’m still early in the game, but if you use a bit of strategy, at least early on you can let your minions do almost all of the fighting. I’m sure that’ll change as I get farther and the game gets harder. Where the game really starts to stray from Pikmin is that Overlord is just as much a true RPG and dungeon crawler as it is a “god game”. You’ll traverse lush forests, meet many characters, and battle your way through dungeons as you become more powerful and your minions become more numerous. The game also takes into account how evil your d.
