Pokemon Gold for Gameboy Color takes place several years after Red, Blue and Yellow, and puts the user into a brand new world, Johto. The gameplay is very similar to the previous games but with many improvements. These include new functions for the player’s Pokegear, a Pokedex that can now be sorted by evolution type and of course, many new Pokemon to catch and train! The objective of the game is to become the champion trainer, and try to complete the Pokedex. To become the champion, the player battles Gym Leaders to obtain various badges. Completing the Pokedex requires a different set of actions, and involves capturing wild Pokemon, battling various trainers to obtain money, and trading Pokemon with NPC’s and other players of Pokemon games.

At first I tried the game in my game boy color, and it didn’t work. I saw the GameBoy logo and nothing happened. After cleaning the contacts the game then worked just fine. I have not tested the battery yet, the game is a Christmas gift for my son who wanted it, so will wait to see if he is able to save it. As of right now I am happy with the purchase. Only taking off one star due to the fact I had to clean the contacts for it to work.

Bought this but had to replace the save battery. Good price, and I enjoyed the game. Really enjoyed playing it again.

My son specifically asked for this game FIRST to go with the Game Boy Color….he has been playing it everyday since we got it…..he’s happy I’m happy, great purchase.

I purchased this game for my son. He is a pokemon finatic! I was a little worried that the game was in used condition. It arrived very quickly, 2 days. I did pay for expedited shipping, and was pleased. My son absolutely loves this game. He spends hours playing it, and it keeps him challenged. He collects these games. Bet you thought you were cool then you had Blue, Red, or Yellow, right? They are NOTHING compared to Gold (or Silver).The color grahics in Gold are so much better that any of the others; you’ll realize this as soon as you play Gold (or Silver) after playing any of the others. There is a whole new world with eight new cities and very cool gym leaders to defeat and badges to earn.Also, say goodbye to Ash, baby. There is a brand new character for you to play, although you see Ash later in your travels. There’s new PokeGear, new Pokemon to catch, and new battle animations. Best part is the new experience meter on battle screens to show how high your Pokemon is on his level – a MUST needed items. The Pokecenters are even bette rthan before as well.If you are a Pokemon fan, or just like game boy games, add this one to your arsenal!

Used game was definitely owned by a kid! The cartridge loaded without too much of a hassle and saved just fine!
