This is one of the most enjoyable games ever. This is the second best platformer, next to Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando (that ultimately deserves first place). The graphics of this game is particularly fluid. The controls are dead-on. The music, I must say, is particularly enjoyable. Heck, even the story is funny. However, what makes this game particularly awesome is that the camera doesn’t pose itself as a nuisance. In most instances, it will pan out to see the boss and everything around you (unlike Naughty Dog’s games). Overall, this game is a must-buy. For the Greatest Hits Price, you won’t be disappointed…

This is an extremely well done game that combines excellent graphics, great gameplay, and an amusing story. Its a platform game in the tradition of Super Mario Bros, but it also incorporates elements of first-person shooters, puzzles, and strategy games as well. The story involves a space rodent named Ratchet, who gets sucked into an intergalactic conspiracy spawned by an evil corporation. Each level is a separate planet, and once you land on a planet, the game doesn’t need to reload anything from the disk until you accomplish all your objectives there and leave for the next planet. If you’re a big time gamer, you’ll probably end up finishing this game in a matter of days, if not hours. For the rest of us, it can easily suck up a few weeks to a month. It certainly is addictive enough to consume all of your free time if you let it. Its whimisical plot is well suited for gamers of all ages, and I would recommend it to anyone, even if they’re not fans of the platform genre in general. I can’t wait for the sequel!

So this game looks like a cutesy cartoon game right?WRONG!This is one of the most sophisticated platform games I have ever seen, and I have been a gamer for a long time. It is a true testament to the power of the Playstation 2 that this game was created! You play Ratchet, an interstellar grease monkey (fox-cat-furry thing) who meets the lovable and uptight robot, Clank. Clank enlists his help to save the solar system in exchange for starting up Ratchet’s spaceship (which is quickly demolished). I guess Ratchet was really bored with his provincial life, because he and Clank head off throughout the galaxy in various ships collecting one of the widest assortment of weapons and gadgets I have ever seen (over 35!). They blast robots and monsters into oblivion and fight valiantly against the imperialist evildoers of the universe. The story itself is really great with fun characters, high quality animation and good solid performances! Then there is the gameplay! Can you say PERFECT? There is this amazing learning curve that you go through when playing the game. You start off with just two weapons and simple controls. As time wears on, you get more and more gadgets and more and more movement possibilities. The world starts to blossom open, with new areas becoming available that you never would have thought of. It is so much fun.Three words: Chicken Morphing Gun. Nuff Said. The game is a masterful execution of what a Playstation 2 game should be. This is one you are going to want to spen.

Note: This review was written as if the game was just released in 2002Science fiction is a popular genre for many mediums of entertainment, including books, television, and movies. Insomniac Games, responsible for the great Spyro the Dragon games on the PlayStation One, have delved into this genre. What they have done is create a visually and aesthetically appealing world filled with colorful characters, crazy gadgets, and explosive (not to mention hilarious) weapons. You can argue whether or not the game is better than its predecessor series, but it is definitely a great game with tons of variety. What This Game is All About: The game has you play as Ratchet, a cat-like creature known as a Lombax, with a robot companion named Clank attached onto him like a backpack (they meet during the tutorial intro level of the game). The core of the game has you travel to various planets to collect new weapons, gadgets, items, and coordinates for different planets, all while attempting to fulfill your own goals. The plot doesn’t deviate too much, but the beginning premise is that Clank finds out that Chairman Drek, voiced by Michael Richardson, is planning to disassemble planets in order to build a new home for his people, because their planet is too polluted to use anymore. While it might seem like a noble cause in some people’s eyes, Clank sees a problem with this (destroying other worlds isn’t exactly what most would call a peaceful solution). He asks Ratchet for his help, but since Ra.

My son enjoys playing this game. Was good copy and he likes having it in his collection. I’m sure he’ll play it several more times.

My experience with Ratchet & Clank:1) Read reviews praising the game.2) Bought it for $20.3) Wish I had spent $50 to show my appreciation to Insomniac.Ratchet & Clank will open your eyes the same way the original Super Mario Bros. did. In other words, you’re gonna be reminded that games are not required to have grandiose, elaborate, and convoluted stories with a hundred different "main" characters; they do not have to make you run through three different menu screens to check your status; and above all, they do not have to be frustrating to be challenging. Ratchet & Clank is a game where you play a cat/hamster/alien guy with a small robot on his back, who shoots guns at things, causing things on screen to blow up.However, unlike in many new games, when Ratchet & Clank rewards you with a new item, it’s gonna be something you have fun with, and there are NO exceptions to this rule. This, to me, set this game in the realm of greatness. You’re gonna enjoy the heck out of this game, whether you’re a little jaded to "platformers" or not (which I was). Please trust me on this. Ratchet & Clank is testament to how console games should and need to be.
