This is a Christmas gift so really don’t know yet!!

It has the usual features (import old rock band songs, etc) as well as the new Keyboard part and Pro Modes (additional instruments required until you unlock Keyboard parts for the Guitar)The only thing I wish would happen is for Rock Band and Guitar Hero to become at least compatible so that you could import your Guitar Hero songs into your Rockband games (or vice-versa) and have one big library. Also, I wish Rock Band had a song meter so you know how much time is left in the song.

There is so much to this game. Between the multitude of songs and instruments available, it’s great. Of course, you should probably get more than one instrument. There is so much DLC available, and for a small price you can import most of your songs from the first two games (with a few exceptions, which should be on Harmonic’s website).

I really like this game and still play it to this day. With Down Loadable Content (DLC) of songs every week this has been great. Being over 60 years old, I do favor the older musical groups (Boston, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimi Hexdrix and the Doors are just a few). I am still waiting for Iron Butterfly (In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida) and any song by Led Zepplin. I bought the keyboard with this and enjoy it more than the guitar…probably because I learned to play the piano first, then the guitar in real life. It has been great playing with other members of my family and I usually play it on medium difficulty…..my 26 year old son-in-law can play the guitar on expert. As of April 2nd, 2013 the DLC will stop coming every week. Hopefully they will release more songs in the future. This was just a great idea for a game and I’m sorry that it hasn’t remained as popular as it was when it first came out.

good product. spent a lot in in store songs rahter than relying in in game songs. LONG LIVE DLC! lol

I have no issues with the game. Of course I would not have minded more set personalities, or being able to set who plays what instrument in my band, or vocalist playing an instrument at the same time….but this is just wishing for a bit extra. What you get is fun which is all that matters. Now for the warning….. I bought this game around Christmas of 2010. Since then (its Sept 2011 now as I write this) I have broken 2 discs. They cracked in the center hole. I am pretty careful with my games, and have much older, more highly used games and are still in spotless condition. The real problem I have concluded is with the case, which is a new type. Funny how what is meant to protect the games disc is actually putting it at great risk. The part of the case that slips into the game disc hole is so so so rigid. Pushing it in and releasing it each time, risks cracking your game disc, even you you press in the middle. It only takes one miss, which I found out just 2 days ago. I strongly advice that if you buy this game that you immediately find another place to place your game disc. I learned the hard way. This is an easy fix really if you know in advance… which you do now.BTW, these new types of cases are showing up in other games. They have a cutaway back order to save on plastic case cost I guess. Just bought Dead Island and it has it too. Be very aware. I bought a sleeve CD holder now because the idea of re-buying games is pretty depressing and financially unsupportable for me.

Rock Band 3 is one of the greatest games of all time, and the ultimate culmination of an entire new genre’s efforts. Not only does it completely replace the need for any other music game, it can now teach people to sing, play guitar, keyboards, and drums… all for real. Karaoke is dead, long-live Rock Band!

  9. S. Denkers

rockband3 introduces a keyboard that I can use without the elbow pain caused by guitar controller. This controller allows me to feel like I am actively participating in an online event with friends. At the same time I am enjoying the music I am exercising my fingers so that this old mans fingers do not become stiff again. The only reason it is not a five star is the absence of new music for dlc downloads.

I’m not sure but it seems like the career mode is just not there. Instead there’s all sorts of challenges, some of which can’t be done unless you’re playing DLC… same goes for achievements.Requiring you to either have purchased (and exported) songs from past games or buy additional songs in order to get achievements is pretty lame. Getting all of the achievements is already hard enough for these (music/rhythm) games but that’s just… excessive in my opinion.I gave it a 3 for fun because I had to do way more than I should have had in order to just play a few songs with my girlfriend when I first got the game.So many menus, making me make a band to play in/with… none of that adds anything to the casual experience and shouldn’t be forced on you just to play some songs.
