This game was able to put me in ancient Rome. No game I played before made me feel like that. Ancient times is my favorite part of history and Shadow of Rome puts you in the shoes or should I say sandals of a gladiator thanks to its great story and game play. Though the sneaking around with Octavianus wasn’t that great and at times boring, it was well worth it just to get to play as Agrippa. My Ps2 went dead a while ago, bought a 360 but I intend to buy a new Playstation 2 to enjoy this game and others once again.

  2. Few games have managed to capture the brutal grandeur that is the Roman coliseum and its most famous athletes, known as gladiators. Some have tried, with varying degrees of success. Lucas Arts’ “Gladius” opted for turn-based roleplaying and strategy in a mostly fantasy setting, while the action-packed but flawed “Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance” took things to a level reminiscent of old arcade beatdowns like “Final Fight.” Other games featuring this setting are hardly worth mentioning, but at last it took some of the people behind “Onimusha” to get the damn thing right with “Shadow of Rome.”Owing as much to Ridley Scott’s year 2000 epic as pretty much every gladiator game released since then, “Shadow of Rome” casts you, primarily, as the hulking centurion Agrippa, who becomes a gladiator in a desperate bid to rescue his father, who is accused of murdering Julius Caesar, and avenging his mother, executed by decree of the new emperor. His young friend Octavianus, also a player character, is there to help when it’s needed, but his skills lean considerably more toward stealth and cunning than clobbering any enemy that stands in his way. The look and feel of the game is Ridley’s, but filtered through an Asian lens. It’s both highly stylized and acutely familiar, and the plotline and characters driving it forward do their job surprisingly well, even if they lack historical accuracy.”Shadow of Rome” feels suitably epic, and the action, which is the game’s focal point, is intense and.

  4. Andrew ????

This game is very fun in this game you dont just fight the whole time you get to go through a rome and fight enemies get weapons and armor you do a story mode, dont worry this game has plenty of action and gore. The only thing that could of made it better is to be able to have two or more players (this game is only 1 player) but besides that it is very fun i recommend this game i dont think you will be dissapointed.1-5 scale:Graphics – 5Sound – 5Music – 4Fun – 5Value – 5 Just buy it already…

Truly one of the best games that I have played in a while. I loved the gameplay and the way that you can play two different characters at the same time (the game will automatically switch between the 2 characters). The graphics are awesome and very deep. This game is both hack and slash and stealth. (Think Splinter Cell mixed with Ninja Gaiden). One of the best games of ’05.

I love gladiators and this game really captures that aspect of history so well. I loved doing the arena battles and had so much fun using the different weapons. The main story slowed down at points when you had to sneak around, but overall it was pretty fun. The ending got super difficult, but I’m not complaining about playing some more :)

    Exactly as described no complaints.

The tital of this review says it all.You will love this game if you like games like games like Spartan Total Warrior,God of War,Colleseum Road to Freedom, and Mortal Kombat. It’s got all the brutallity of Mortal Kombat and all the storyline of an RPG (role playing game).I got this game yesterday and I already love it.The storyline:44 B.C,Julius Ceasar has been assinated and your father,Vipsanius has been accused of killing him.You are Agrippa,a roman general turned glaliator, and Octavianus, Agrippa’s friend. While Agrippa fights in the Colliseum to stay alive,Octavinus sneaks around and trys to find who really killed Ceasar. There are so many ways to kill your enemies in this game. You can disembowl them with a sword, put a speer in their belly,a javlin in their chest,an arrow in their eye,you can draw your knife and slit their throat, you can throw your sword at a guy who is running away from you and whach as it impails itself in his back, then you can stroll towards the guy as he lays on the ground, groaning in agony and finish him by cutting off his head, you can even cut off his arms and beat him to death with it.My favorite ting to do is,knock him on his back with my shield and raise my sword to the crowd, and as he pleads for his life, stab him in the heart with your sword. GET THIS GAME!!!!!!

The story is basically between gladiator fights and stealth missions. The stealth missions are bad. At the end of the game you just control Agrippa over and over again because even the creators couldn’t find an interesting way to end the game with Octavionus. The gladiator fights are the highlights of the game. You control Agrippa, and you must complete different objectives, in order to obtain victory. There are team battles, rescues, sieges, animal fights, dominations, chariot races, and one called sword struggle which is real fun.You can get tons of weapons to cut off foes arms and head. Halberds, mauls, schimiters, gladius’, maces, torches, bows, daggers, rocks, spears, slings, and an awesome two-handed sword. There are several variations on these weapons, such as power gladius’ and apollo’s spear. The fun thing about the game is killing your opponents in different ways. The game rewards you with different salvo moves. You can cut people in half and watch blood shoot everywhere. You can grab a chick from behind, cover her mouth, and stab her in her stomach. You can suplex someone off a really high castle. There are so many creative ways to keep yourself entertained that you will want to fight gladiator battles over and over again.Once you play these missions once on normal, or hard, you can play them again whenever you like in battle selection. You can unlock new salvo moves and get more salvo points. Although these salvo points don’t count to your total salvo points in the.

What can i say…This game is cool. The arena battle are heart pumping and adreniline filled(especially when you severe some poor guy’s head from his shoulders and show it to the crowd,HOOORAWWWWW.)But right as the game gets cool you get draged from the coolness and are forced to do some retarded mission for some kid named octopus or something, he’s like a pacifist because he doesnt kill anyone. Overall this game rocks, Buy IT!!!!!!!!!!!
