This game is like Kung Fu meets Grand Theft Auto, and that is a good thing. Open world, story driven game in the mold of GTA, but the fighting is generally hand to hand. There are weapons, and a large variety of cars and mission types, but the foundation is the hand to hand. A change of pace, may not be for everyone, but a really good game.

If you like AC, GTA, and extreme detail, this game is for you.It combines the perfect city environment like GTA, and with its AC like combat system, you’ll get hours of free roaming enjoyment. Not to worry though, because the campaign is long, and there are many side missions, getting you even more hours of fun. Now, the part that worried me when getting the game was guns. There are guns, but you have to pick them up from people after A)subduing them, or B)disarming them. after that you have stow a gun as long as it has ammo (adding a nice realistic feel). You can also collect ammo from other people with the same gun, but only a few clips (for the pistol it looks like 15|45).In the end there is a load of fun to be had with this game, and if you’ll excuse me i want to get back to kickin ass.

The great thing about this game is subtley. Even though typically in these style of games you are eased into them and then not much else changes this is different. The story is great I won’t put in spoilers, but if you have played similar march around and mindless kill games this one has a unique fighting system that’s easy to pick up. The level of difficulty is almost perfect (although I need to get better at races). For me the most amazing bit was even though the fighting is pretty straight forward there are enough complex and novel types of application for them; especially helping out disgruntled citizens and make others tow the line.In addition a huge strength to this game was the accuracy of changes, driving in rain compared to dry, the nuances as your character moves down steps etc. Driving on the left was cool too. Can’t wait for 2.

I Love this game! It was like playing a Chinese version of Grand Theft Auto. The main missions were fun to do, they were the first mission I completely finished. Currently trying to beat all the cop and racing missions now. The fighting in this game was a bit challenging for me because of how its set up but after I got used to it I was fine.

I really enjoyed playing this game, but it did take me a little while to get used to the fighting mechanics at first. You have to find the jade statues to make the fighting worthwhile as at first it is very unresponsive and a little difficult in my opinion, until you gain more fighting experience and have more combos to use.I have seen many people compare the mechanics to Batman:Arkham, but it is not as smooth and has a slight lag.The missions are fun, being able to move freely around and choose when and what to do it great, and the driving is really fun, I usually don’t go for the GTA type of games, but with the strong back story and the conflicted cop character I enjoyed this like I enjoy a good John Woo film.Really made me wish someone would make a Kill Bill Video Game like this, how freaking good would that be?

I love Hong Kong cinema. Movies like John Woo’s A Better Tomorrow, Alan Mak’s Infernal Affairs, and Jackie Chan’s Police Story are the kind of films I grew up with. Hong Kong cinema is unmatched in delivering imaginative fight choreography and exhilarating action sequences. Last time I visited China’s immersive scenery in a video game was in John Woo’s Stranglehold. It was a fantastic third-person shooter, but it was short, linear and left me craving for more. Back in 2009, Activision announced a reboot of the True Crime franchise with True Crime: Hong Kong – originally developed as a new IP under the title Black Lotus. When the game was dropped due to budgeting issues and who knows what, I was devastated. Luckily, Square Enix saw potential in it and brought it back under the new name Sleeping Dogs. And I’m glad they did, because Sleeping Dogs is absolutely brilliant. It doesn’t particularly re-invent the sandbox genre, nor is it bug-free, but the gameplay is superb, the voice acting and story are fantastic and there’s a massive amount of content that’ll keep you busy for a very long time. The talented Will Yun Lee, who’s been in movies like Elektra, Die Another Day, and the recent Total Recall, plays the protagonist Wei Shen.Byron Mann, the guy who played Ryu in the 1994 Street Fighter movie, plays your handling officer, Raymond Mak. And remember Liu Kang from the 95 and 97 Mortal Kombat movies? Well, Robin Shou plays one of the Sun On Yee Triad thugs – c’mon, this is great!.

    very good

What a surprise this game was! It’s more or less GTA with an Asian spin to it. It has some problems with camera view and such, but overall a great game. If you like the open world and GTA this is a no-brainer.

  10. User

very charming rendition of Hong Kong, and user’s ability to put together impressive action sequence.
