<XBOX360>I have not played an open world story game since GTA Vice City because mafia stories are cool to me, but gangster street thugs are lame. Sleeping Dogs, set in Hong Kong and placing you as a highly skilled undercover police officer sent to infiltrate one of the Triads, appeared to be change of pace and ultimately what led me to purchase the game.I was immediately impressed by the large world and I could easily see the thought and effort that when into designing it. The detail and graphics were pretty amazing as well. However, I was a bit disappointed that the story mode did not take me through more of the environmental features like car jumps. I also wish there were some easter eggs or inside jokes hidden in the world. (Maybe there were, but I didn’t find any outside of an occasionally clever l33t speak license plate.) These sorts of fun little sides are what would keep me running around in the world, with no missions, just for fun.The story line was engaging and I wanted to know what came next. I also happened to enjoy the open feeling I was left with from one of the last scenes. The voice acting was great, but I wished the characters could have been a little more expressive. They all seemed to have a “straight face” whether they were sad, happy, or angry. I loved the variety of remarks and insults from the general population as well as the variety of character types. The controls were easy to learn for basic maneuvering as well as fighting. The game allows you to.

Honestly this game isn’t as open as GTA4 like it claims to be. You really can’t find weapons everywhere like GTA and I feel this game is more story oriented than free roam. The story is great, although I feel it was too short. The "relationship" element felt way too short. Story DLC is planned for the game and although its a plus, having to pay for stuff that should’ve been in the game in the beginning is a bit of a downer. In short, I felt this game is pretty good, although story was really short. Definitely check this game out!

Although I am terrible at writing reviews, I still feel compelled to write one for Sleeping Dogs, because of how awesome it is. The fact that I am putting myself through this whole review writing ordeal ought to tell you just how impressive this game is, since I don’t bother unless the product in question is exceptional. In case that isn’t proof enough, allow me to elaborate.Sleeping Dogs is great. Although it is supposedly “just another GTA clone” there are a few things that set it apart from and above its peers. The hand-to-hand combat was very addictive, deep, and not difficult at all to master. Taking out huge groups of armed thugs with nothing more than your hands and feet was very satisfying. It was just like those Bruce Lee movies where he’s surrounded by enemies and he takes them all out. Another feature I really enjoyed from this game was the “action hijack” ability, where you jump from one speeding vehicle to another. It was so fun, I wouldn’t think twice about leaving behind a fancy vehicle and dropping whatever it was I was doing to jack an armored truck. One thing I’d also like to mention is none of the distractions and side quests felt pointless. Even the dating missions yielded something useful, as they resulted in collectibles becoming visible on the mini-map. The collectibles themselves were also useful and they allow you bonuses, and in the case of one variety of collectible, they allow you to learn new fighting moves. So, I never felt the least bit of tedium.

This game is worth every penny. The storyline beats anything that GTA has ever created. The combination of Parkour and fighting mechanics are unmatched by any game out there right now. The only part of the game that needs a little work is the camera angles. They can rotate in weird positions sometimes. The only free roam video game that is on its level is Red Dead Redemption, in my opinion.

Great game. This is very similar to the GTA series. I bought the X-Box version over the PS3 version because I read reviews saying that the gameplay is smoother on the 360 than the PS3. I would have preferred to buy it on the PS3 because I like the controller better but decided on the smoother gameplay of the X-Box.

This is game kicks ass!!! I really miss martial arts in video games and they’ve seemed to be missing for awhile now. Shenmue rocked as well as Jade Empire but how long has it been. This game is great like the Rockstar games (Red Dead Redemption and the Grand Theft Auto series) with a great story, cool character whom kicks major ass with authentic style martial arts.

I would say this game falls somewhere in between GTA and Arkham Batman games. Like the batman games this game has a lot of hand to hand combat, but it is well done and makes the game a little more changeling than a straight shooter like GTA. There area plenty missions where there is shooting. It is like GTA is story and style and has a compelling story line.I bought this game because of the reviews here so I wanted to leave one. It was a very fun game to play and I really liked the story line. I thought the story was going to be a little longer though. I thought I was maybe 60% through the game when it ended, a little more advancement in the Triad and being able to choose whether to be good/evil would have made it a "love it."

Buying this game was a huge risk for me. With so many games being rushed to market lately, even big name titles, and coming out like garbage–I was hesitant to take a risk on a new franchise. But so far this has thrilled me. Many have compared the fighting to Batman: Arkham City. I’m a huge fan of Batman, but the fighting in this game isn’t nearly that fluid. Having said that, it is still a blast and you can do some things you can’t pull off in Batman. I won’t ruin the surprises. The city is gorgeous but the faces are terrible, but given the overall quality of the game its certainly forgivable.A nice variety of activities like fighting, driving, you name it. If you like open-world games and are in the mood to take a chance on something new, though not necessarily groundbreaking, I really don’t think you’ll be at all sorry for trying this out. There are a variety of weapons, skill upgrades and vehicles you can buy, not to mention clothing and new things for your apartment. Just a game that was a very pleasant surprise.
