Now I do indeed have a DS and a PSP, and they both are great systems. Both have pros and cons in different areas. However, I have read a lot of reviews that just bomb th PSP, really just trying to make the PSP look worse than the DS, instead of making a more fair judgement and give both sides of the stories. For instance; the PSP has incredible graphics and a pretty big screen, plus almost every game has these graphics. Where as the DS has two normal, portable system wise, screens and O.K. graphics, really depending on the game, like the graphics for mario vs. the graphics for pig pals. I have also heard reviews telling about how every single PSP has missing pixils. First off I would like to say that that is not completely true. Actually, it sometimes depends on where you buy it, it may be better at a EBX vs. a Kmart.( notice, these are examples I am not saying that EBX is always better than somewhere else!) The second thing is that the DS has problems as well such as the touch screen may not always work as it is supose to. That to also may very on where you buy it. Another popular rejection quote lots of people put in, is the fact the oooh… the PSP is so darn fragle don’t buy it… oh boohoo grow up already. If you drop any kind of elctronic device, it could be a digital camera or even the DS, it is always going to do some kind of damage. Though the PSP might tend to be more fragile, it is not going to break if you drop it once or twice. However I would not recomend it to.

When the PSP first came out, I was going about my merry way in Best Buy checking out the latest PC games. Then this salesman from Best Buy approached me and asked me if i wanted to try the PSP. I own two PCs, a GC, a PS2, and an Xbox. After about an hour, I bought the PSP and here’s why:1)Graphics: Good graphics. Good resolution. A bit sensitive to too much light. When playing in the daytime with the sun up, you might have issues seeing what’s on the screen. Too much light creates an odd reflection that kills the image on the screen, and what you see is your face. Some slowdowns when too much activity going on in-game. Otherwise, the graphics is way better than any handheld i’ve played.2)Weight: The PSP is quite heavy for a portable. It weighs close to…hmmm..a discman and a half. It will put some strain on your wrists and your fingers. The weight adds some stress to how you hold the PSP, thus creating some discomfort on the fingers and palm.3)Battery Life: as many have said it only lasts 2.5 hours. not true. my PSP lasts for about 4 hours just playing Ridge Racer. Be careful when booting down the PSP, sleep mode will make you think the PSP is completely turned off. When turning off the PSP make sure to push and hold the power switch for at least 4 seconds to shut off the power completely. Pushing it for a second will take you on sleep mode only.4)Price: for $250.00 I think it’s worth it. You get all the perks for a device…movies, mp3, wi-fi, usb. it’s ok5)Format: UMD is a.

The psp is just awesome to look at. Its sleek black design is just begging to be touched. It does smudge easily, but as long as it doesn’t get scratched, who cares? You can always wipe it off.I’ll go through every one of the things that comes in the psp value pack.Console: Yeah, its pretty sweet looking. I actually would have better liked a flip screen so the screen wouldn’t get as smudged, but it takes away from the weight and still looks sleek.Music: I’ve only put a couple songs on it so far, but the interface is pretty nice. It can do the basic features, nothing more, but its enough.Video: With the amazing widescreen display, anything will work good. I definitely reccomend not getting a umd movie. They don’t play on dvd players and there aren’t as many special features. They also are a lot at about 30 dollars. I reccoment buying a 1 gb memeory stick pro duo off of retrolio, and puting on dvd movies that way. Dvd’s are much cheaper. Check out if you want to put video onto a memory stick duo.Photo’s: I haven’t put any on yet but I’m sure photo’s look great. As far as I’m sure, the interface is nice.Gameplay: The reason you would get the psp lives up to its standars and easily surpases them. You get nearly a ps2 experience anywhere you want, and that’s awesome. Loading times aren’t as bad as you would think, but there are loading times.Web Browser: With all new psp’s bought, the new firmware is pre installed, including a web browser. This is a very nice addition. Typing i.

Looking over all my reviews, I noticed I had alot of PSP reviews but no review on the actual system itself. So, here’s my review…Up until recently, I used to be a longtime Nintendo supporter as far as handhelds go. The luxury of being able to game on the go has always interested me. Unfortunately, due to the lack of good games for Nintendo’s latest portable, the Nintendo DS, I became interested in Sony’s Playstation Portable. So, when the PSP was bought for me as a gift for my birthday with Twisted Metal: Head-On, my efforts were put on this incredible little machine. I’m simply amazed at what it can do. Not only is it a portable gaming device but also a movie player, stores digital pictures-MP3’s and alot more. You can also play multiplayer with others, and online. It is the Walkman of the 21st Century. The one thing that amazes me the most; after playing such games as TM: Head-On, NFSU: Rivals, Ridge Racer, and Wipeout Pure; is how it’s able to produce almost PS2 quality graphics. The Playstation Portable has been around since March 2005 and it already has a huge list of games to play on it, with more of your favorite series planned for it(like Socom, Metal Gear Ac!d, Daxter, Grand Theft Auto)in the near future. Although I still love my Nintendo DS, I don’t feel any guilt about giving alot of my support to Sony’s PSP. Sure, it’s an expensive handheld entertainment device, especially so in the pricing of its’ games, but one well worth it. If you can afford it, do yourself.

No denying that this is one “head-turner” with great looks and amazing screen. The weight is perfect for a balanced gaming experinece. I played Ridge racer and was hooked for over two months. So many others features (music, videos and movies, photos, Internet) make this the best portable entertainment center out there. Don’t campare PSP with video Ipod as this is primarily a gaming system. Though I haven’t used the LocationFree Tv feature (sounds costly to me at $ 350 + $ 50 for PC setup), but it does make PSP seem even more powerful. Battery life is adequate (3-5 hours for games or movies and 10-14 hours for music).Couple of things I didn’t like or couldn’t figure out. All videos have to be mp4 format and that too PSP version. So you have to use converters (generally for $30) to view it, but all the ones I tried worked properly for a few formats and would bloat up the size (in some case 10 times the orginal). Photos take a few seconds to adjust to best resolution (maybe I have high resolution ones) and may have to edit them for best possible view on PSP. Speaker sound is okay but not good enough for movies, though the head phone sound is great. Headphones themselves are not a good fit for my ears, keep falling off.I recommed to buy 1 GB memory stick pro duo card (SanDisk is cheaper and good). I also am thinking of buying a hard case for PSP and UMD cases. To find the best deals use pricegrabber.com and keep checking deals2buy.com

I bought this a couple of days after it came out and since then i still play it. I am glad that i bought the value pack because it came with everything that i needed and i did not want to buy. I played the psp 2000 and i liked it much better so now i might buy the 3000 or psp go. I got it a long time ago so back then i only had the GBs so i thought that the screen and the graphics were the best in the world for a portable. But after a while the headphones were great untill i lost them and the case was not very protective so i bought a new one. The memory card was small and did not hold much so i couldent put music, photos, and have games saved on it so i just used my ipod. It is heavy and not very comfortable. The strap that comes with it is handy. U can choose the color of the menu background or use a photo. I paid 250 bucks for it and today even if u buy the value pack it is not worth even close to that much. The graphics and sound is not as good as the ps2 but better than a GC or a ps1. In fact most games becides racing games, r almost the same as some ps2 games. This system is good if u buy a newer one like the 3000 or the go but this one is the first and the oldest so if u dont like it i would buy one of the newer ones.

Admittedly, there aren’t too many games out for it right now, but the potential is definitely written all over it. So far I’ve gone through Wipeout and Ridge Racer, and even though I’m generally not so much of a fan of racing games, I had a blast playing these two amazing looking games on that clear hi-res screen.Add in the endless possibilities of Wi-Fi connectivity, and you’re set to go.Although, I’m currently using my PSP as more of an iPod for video games… I’m assuming that digging into the PSP’s OS would be something of a taboo subject here, but it opens up the device to a whole new world of geeky possibilities. IMO, the smartest move Sony could make would be to open up the system entirely (PDA style) and just let people go nuts with it… Locking out users of an older OS is only going to result in lower game sales and frustrated consumers.Still, my only real complaints with the unit so far are the price (naturally) and the action on the D-pad and analogue stick. The placement of the analogue stick and it’s action are really shamefully bad. The D-pad is not that great either, especially for diagnol direction movement. I’ve been told that you have to “break in” the system, but so far I’ve seen no improvement in this bafflingly poor build on the controls of the unit. The possibilities are endless however, and this is already showing itself to be a much more than just a simple portable video game system. All that, and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories comes out in a co.

I have had this system for 7 months now and it’s still working perfectly. So far I have 4 games and 6 UMD movies. This system is perfect because you can listen to music, watch movies, play videogames, look at pictures, go on the internet, watch TV, etc. But for the internet and TV you’ll need a 2.5 upgrade which you’ll eventually get.As for the games, there aren’t many out right now and some I’m not even interested in playing, but I believe (and hope) that later this year there’ll be more. The graphics are probably the best I’ve ever seen on a handheld system and the movies are perfectly clear. On my PSP I have 3 dead pixels but while you’re playing or watching a movie, you’ll hardly recognize them. This system is easily breakable and I mean if you drop it on concrete floor, it’ll most likely break. So be really careful with it. As for the screen, it must be cleaned alot or you’ll start seeing scratches which can make it look ugly.Overall, the PSP is worth you money and time and it’s a system for everyone. But on second thought, I would rather wait for all the good games to come out and maybe even new colors for the PSP.Thanks for reading and I hope I really helped.

I’ve been a hand held fan since the original Game Boy. I travel a lot and there is nothing like some mind numbing shooter to pass the time on a flight or an airport delay.I have both the DS, DS Lite and the PSP. In fact, my wife even has a DS. However, for gaming, especially in a shooter, it’s hard to beat the PSP. The screen is larger and the action is more fluid. With the DS I just can’t get into switching from the buttons to the touch screen when in the heat of battle. A long time and dedicated Metroid fan, I had to give up on Metroid Hunters. But God of War on PSP…awesome. The DS is great for educational games for grownups. Brain Drain, Crosswords, language tutorials, etc are well done and great for adults. Nintendo is good at exploiting this niche. But again, for pure action gaming…the PSP is king.My only suggestion is spend the money for the lithium battery and perhaps even get a spare and a seperate PSP battery charger. Unlike Nintendo, SONY does produce its product with dual voltage power supplies that come in handy when you travel to any place where the voltage is different.
