I am a big ps2 fan and could’nt wait for this to come out. The system and it’s capabilities are sweet. But,unless you MUST have the latest system NOW, I would wait for the price to come down at least $50(from $250). The software is sparse right now and to get 2 games and a couple of extraneous accesories (like a face cover to protect the gorgeous screen and storage for the discs, etc.)will cost you at least $400!You can get an xbox or ps2 system for $150 and 2 or 3 games for less.If you get the so called”value pak”you will recieve-the PSP of course with a battery pack, ac charger, 30mb memory stick, lanyard, cheap softcase, spiderman 2 movie, a NON-interactive preview disc, wired remote & earbuds and a cleaning clothPros-Large,beautiful crisp screen versatility potentially awesome can play movies, games, mp3 and atrac music, display photos Built-in RF communication and wireless LANCons-over-priced for what you get battery life just O.K. not many games to choose from(but should get better) no movies available yet spare battery packs not available yet does not include the software or cable to download music, photos etc. to the PSP from your PC car charger not included!? preview disc is non-interactive seems delicate-buy a hard-shell caseIf you must have a portable game system, get the nintendoDS. You can get more for less money.I don’t dislike this system at all, but Sony should at least give you something to do with the system when you get it instead of watch one movie f.

First of all, this is a great little system. I have had this for about eight months now and only have minor gripes. The problem is that Sony has not been supporting this thing very well. The psp has so much potential that Sony is not taking advantage of. They waited too long to put out any really decent games. Having a screen protector is MANDATORY for this(I think they should just include it with the regular bundle). The memory card it comes with is inadequate(buy the gigapack). Also, it smudges really easily.OK, that being said, I love this little machine. I travel quite often so I use it on airplanes to play game and watch movies(I have something else for mp3s). I have yet to buy any UMD movies b/c they are way overpriced. Its better to buy the movies on regular DVDs, rip and convert them to MP4, then store the MP4 on your memory card. You’ll need to have at least a 512mb card. I’m glad this whole ‘podcasting’ thing has caught on b/c now people are putting out content for the psp as well as the ipod. So, I would say if you like portable gaming this is the way to go if you have the money.

I usually don’t jump at the “latest thing” but I had no current gaming platforms (most recent being the Nintendo 64) and decided to go for it with the Sony PSP. First of all, the dead pixel issue WAS an issue (there were about 3 small ones and one larger one) with my first unit. They really didn’t bother me when I was playing the games but when I plugged in Spiderman 2, they were kind of obvious. Called Sony and though they don’t encourage a replacement, they were very helpful and did so when I requested it. About 10 days after shipping my first unit off, I received my replacement. This one ALSO had dead pixels and was perhaps worse (one was pretty large, don’t they check it before they send?). Oh well, I’m pretty sure I’ll send this one back for another replacement but I want to play it a little while. At least they get a gold star for customer service. The gameplay is great. If you like to play anywhere without being stuck only where your system is (like PS2), this is very convenient. Make sure the battery is charged or you are near a plug because, yes, it only lasts 3 to 4 hours on a charge but you can’t ask for much more in a unit this size.Graphics are awesome but, as I stated, my last experience was with Nintendo 64 so I wasn’t “spoiled”. I have MLB by 989 sports and Lumines, both very good and my interest endures with them. Just wish there were more games out already that I liked. Had Twisted Metal which was good for awhile but you get tired of it quickly.

I have played with one for a bit now, and compared to my Archos AV420, I have to admit: a better screen and better sound. Also the aspect of games is nice to have (Archos lacks this).Someting I’m not comfortable with is the proprietary disks. But maybe that just takes time to get used to.The device feels like it’s high quality, nice and solid.Graphics and screen look great (much better than my Archos AV420).Downside is the lack of a CompactFlash card slot – I have a Sony F828 and use CF cards for my pictures, which I’d like to unload on my PSP,… tuff noogies, not gonna happen.I found a little trick on how to playback my own MPEG4 files online which works fine. And storing MPEG4 movies on overpriced memory sticks is definitly NOT the way to go for me. A 512Mb Memory Stick will almost never hold a DivX file, unless you downsize it for the PSP.Oh almost forgot: LOVE the WiFi connectivity – not quit sure what to do with it though :-)If you’re interested in a Free PSP, then please follow this link From a service/warranty point of view, buying at retrolio is probably a better choice, but you can’t beat the price. Some useful links for PSP owners:1) Free tool for movie conversion for the PSP (MPEG/AVI):2) How to convert movies for PSP playback using 3GP convert:3) PSPManager For Windows (free)4) Free PSP

This device surpassed all my expectations. It is a great gaming machine the modern gamer will enjoy (unlike the GameBoy, which is truly a kids toy). The sheer power of this device is just amazing. The graphics look as good as (if not better than) the PS2 graphics.I also find myself using this device for a lot more than gaming. I download podcasts and listen to MP3 files. I also download video casts, convert them to MP4 files, and watch them on the PSP.The display is amazing. Certainly the best display on any mobile device I have ever seen. Only the sound is not the greatest without a headset (with the headset, it is pretty good). For videos, the sound often is just too silent, even on the loudest setting. The only real problem I have with the device is that its design is such that your hands will hurt after you play for a little while. I guess they went for looks over ergonomics. On the flip-side however, the device is so stylish that you can play it in public without being emberassed, even if you are over 18 years old. Try that with the GameBoy ;-)

Battery Pack: Not much to say. From my experience, it works fine. It was easy enough to install. You can also get replacements if it dies which is always a plus.AC Adapter: Yet again, not much to say. Just plug it into an electrical outlet and then into your PSP and it starts charging. No problems up to this point.Photo Display: Allows you to put photos onto your PSP and view them. You can send these photos, put them up as your PSP wallpaper, rotate them left or right, zoom in or zoom out on a picture, and play a slideshow of all your pictures. However, you must remember when sending photos, the size can be no bigger than 2047 KB.Games: Well, the selection has increased, but I still feel there are not enough. It is hard to rate this section as a whole because each individual game has its own pros and cons. However, one complaint that is common to almost all games is that the loading time is too long.UMD Movies: You can purchase full feature films for your PSP ranging anywhere from $15 to $30 per film. To my surprise, this feature worked great. I expected there to be lots of pauses due to loading, but there were not, and the screen, which I thought would display the movie in low quality, works just as well as a regular old TV screen. Only problem with these movies is that sometimes there is a lack of special features.Music (MP3) Player: The quality of this depends on if you are using the provided headphones or not. In my opinion, the headphones greatly improve the quality of.

I’ve had the psp since it was released and I must say Im super impressed. Here are the psp’s modes:1) Games: Great titles, with awesome graphics. Mostly with bonus content. Some games offer online, making the psp a superior handheld.2) Internet: The PSP lets you surf the internet. All you need is a connection port and voala, it offers good speed internet.a. On the internet for now you can see all sites, with wmv, sound and even shockwave.b. On the psp site you can download vids, info and even demos.3) Music: The psp is also like an mp3 player. You cant store songs as in an mp3 player or an ipod. You can also download them online.4) Video: You can see umd videos and downloaded videos. Which is very awesome since you can watch anything on it.The psp has a very large and cool screen, but its very fragile and sunlight might ruin it. The sound is pretty good for a handheld and superb with some headphones. The controls are also easy to get addapted to, an awesome thing about the psp’s controls is that it has an analog! Making it easier to move around. What the Value Pack offers and is it good? The value pack offers the psp system, a 32mb memmory stick duo, headphones with a separate video controler, a video demo of games, videos and music, and of course, the cloth to clean up the psp. They are all good quality items which makes the Value Pack the ideal bundle for the psp.

This thing is amazing. I bought it almost 5 years ago and it still flawless. First of all this game has the original and best version of lumines ever. Lumines is the most amazing puzzle game and if you goto now and look it up you will see that it was one of the most highly rated games of all time. 2nd someone just gave me there old 1gb memory card and I plugged it in a month ago and was able to connect to the psp store and download Castlevaniea Symphony of the Night. Are you kidding me another top rated game stored on removable media. I mean this thing was so far ahead of its time its not even funny. The load times are slower than the newer models but it amazes me that everything was so well made and still works flawlessly half a decade later. UMD forever!!!
