Dude…Did not expect it to be as scary as that, First Person Fatal Frame is First Person Heart Attack!

Really fun game. My kids walk around the house, and randomly scream at something while playing. The 3-D affect is awesome on this game. Great purchase!

I like to play scary games, but seeing as I am somewhat squeamish when it comes to blood and gore, my options are extremely limited. So admittedly, I have not played a lot of them. This one was fun for me however. The game has you using the cameras on the 3DS to look at pictures in a book to continue the story. And the main game play happens with ghosts attacking you and you have to take pictures of them to fend them off. It is kind of cool because the game just imposes them onto your screen while the cameras still look around your house, so it can feel like they are actually in the room with you. Before getting it, I had expected that I would have to walk around my house to find the ghosts. But actually everything happens in one spot. You just turn around in circles. If you have a rotating chair this can be really helpful. This can be good or bad depending on what you are looking for in an augmented reality game. Personally, I was wanting to be terrified as I walked around my own house looking and waiting for ghosts to pop out at me as I turned a corner (like in the "trailer" they made for the game). So I was a little disappointed. But if you are lazy and would rather stay in one spot, or if you have a disability that makes it difficult for you to walk, then you would probably prefer the stationary game play. Just don’t get dizzy spinning. As I said before, it doesn’t have any gore in it. There is one point where drops of blood appear to be dripping onto the book. But.

I was really excited about this game since seeing it shown off at a Japanese press conference and badly hoped it would make it’s way to America. When it came out I kept hearing bad things about it, essentially how it was more or less a glorified demo of the AR technology. To be fair it is more than just a “glorified demo” but the game does suffer from being too short. This game isn’t worth full retail price but it is well worth $10 at most so if you want a scary game that’s a quick fun experience and you can find it on the cheap I say go for it.

This is a game that has so much potential. It’s marketed as a spin off title but when you boot up the game, the story is titled “Fatal Frame: The Diary of Faces”. The game includes a small booklet known as “The Diary of Faces”. You use this the entire game as it’s the basis of the story. One day you receive a package in the mail, it’s the diary of faces. Legend has it anyone who reads from this book will have their face removed. Now the concept is great, your 3DS is the camera obscure and ghosts come out of the diary and you must move around to find them and defeat them. The only problem is that it is way too short! This game can be completed in under 2 hours, which is unfortunate considering this was a fun game with an interesting gameplay mechanic. If you’re a fan of the Fatal Frame series it’s worth the purchase.
