If you are a fan of the tales series, then you should know what to expect already when you get this, the one difference this game has from the rest, is that you can’t buy your weapons, they are given to you as you level up, and you are given sp points as you level up, that you distribute to your 5 attributes
Tales of Hearts R feels like relic from the past. Despite being a remake of a Japanese only DS game, its aesthetics and playstyle feel like they hopped right off the PS2 circa 2001. It features relatively blocky graphics with limited animations, generic synth music, a Working Design quality translation (minus the memes), three-building sized towns with static NPCs, and a story that wouldn’t look out of place side-by-side with Tales of Phantasia. But these aren’t knocks against the game. Tales of Hearts R revels in feeling like a lost classic. For as generic as the story is it’s also endearingly charming and blindingly optimistic. Things take time to get moving but eventually the colorful cast of anime cliche characters take center stage to steal your heart. At the end of the day the plot resembles Phantasia to the core — an ancient race from a doomed planet wants to restore it by destroying yours — but the localization is so tight that all the story beats strike a chord even if you’ve seen them all before. But Tales has largely been about combat and it doesn’t disappoint. Starting off with the simple 3-hit combos and generic artes, you eventually gain access to a simple points-based system allowing you to boost a core attribute (hp, sp, physical, and so on) while also unlocking skills and artes that you can assign. Characters can also bond with each other, a system that increases as they fight together or through story skits, which allows them to share skills if they have a s.
Another solid Tales of rpg.The game has some very interesting and unique characters for the game. This one is really different from some of the other Tales of games. It’s battle system and level system is kind of like a midway point between Xillia and Zestiria. I only started Zestria for a hour or so. I wanted to play the games in order of release. So, I got this Tales of Hearts R.It doesn’t have an English Dub like most game these days but it’s still definitely worth getting. All of the text is in English.I would recommend getting a PS TV like I did. That way you can see in on your TV. That’s how I’m playing it. I use my PS4 controller. That way all the Vita touch features are still there. Though honestly, you can completely ignore those. They aren’t that important.Definitely a must have to any Tales of Fan.A PS TV is currently only $40 and it will let you play most all other PS Vita games on your TV if you, like me, aren’t a handheld console gamer.https://www.retrolio.com/PlayStation-TV-vita/dp/B00KVMHSUM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467508083&sr=8-1&keywords=ps+tv
An amazing game with good story and RPG system.
The Good: Memorable story, great characters, lots of voice acting and dialog, deep and tense combat, New Game+ adds replayabilityThe Bad: Mass amounts of cut scenes can slow the pace, last two bosses create an overwhelming difficulty spike, cooking isn’t as useful as it should be, leveling system is a bit complicated, graphics are underwhelmingIf you have been following this site for a while you will know by now that I don’t have much patience for JRPGs. They are usually extremely long, random battles get tedious to the point of me wanting to quit the game completely, and some times the stories and battle systems can be boring or convoluted or both. Tales of Hearts R just so happened to one of the few JRPGs available on Vita so I thought I would give it a try. I was in for a strange surprise. The story itself is actually pretty decent and actually makes sense despite how involved it is. You play as a young hero named Kor Metor who is traveling the world to help save a girl named Kohaku along with her brother. There are links within people called Spirias. This is kind of like their soul. Somatics have weapons that are formed from this Spiria and Kor discovers he is one after watching his grandfather die at the hands of a woman named Incarose. There is a “Spiria disease†called xeroms that can cause dispir within people meaning part of their Spiria Core is missing or corrupted. Kor and his friends and “link†with people to fight off this corruption. Kor does this to Kohaku and s.
Great JRPG for the vita. If you want a little bit of a break from the overly tedious and sometimes frustratingly hard battles definitely pick this up if you haven’t already. It’s relatively easy but not too easy in my opinion. Voices are Japanese only. Perfect length in my opinion. Grinding is not necessary if you just do the random battles as you go from point a to point b. Graphics are good but I wouldn’t say they are the best on the vita. Im not gonna say much on the story but I liked it. Characters were pretty typical tales/jrpg characters. Overall it’s a really good, fun, and enjoyable portable jrpg.
good game
It’s been a good long while since I’ve written a review about a game, today instead of rambling on I’ll just list the pros and cons and elaborate on a few points.Pros:+First “true” portable Tales game released in North America (Tales of the World for PSP was not very good at best)+Easy to use Level Up system (coming off of Xillia 2, this was refreshing)+The story was good, but not great. The Story lines main focus in the first half was about Love and Emotions, and then in the late half focuses on the save the world thing, I found the first half started out slow but did get better (I was actually enjoying it), then near the last half it kind of sputtered out and never really recovered. The ending sort of makes up for it (in a happy yet sad way) but overall this is probably one of the weaker stories I’ve seen in a Tales game.Cons:-In the last few Tales games we have gotten older (or in some cases more mature) Main characters I’d much rather play an 18 year old Jude or 20 year old Ludger than a 16 year old “naive to the world bumpkin” that is known as Kor (Shingu)Overall though this would not be a bad purchase if you’re a tales fan and want to take in some of that action on the go, or just want a new RPG to put in your Vita.
get the game in good conditions, well time to play!!
Hello fellow customers! This is my review in the game: Tales of Hearts R (NA) PS Vita. After playing around 60 hours total in this wonderful game, I thought that this game was going to be just OK…But! Nevertheless, it’s a beautifully charming story/plot. The game features Japanese dubbed and English subbed. There is no English dubbed. The Story (9.5/10)This game has so much twisting situations that I had experienced in the game. (Spoiler Alert) Travelling the world and reclaiming shards for an innocent girl that had lost almost all of her emotions. Meeting different characters that either unexpectedly join your group or helps with your journey. Villains that can be sometimes forgiving and monsters that can be very cute. This game also features cut scenes that makes it feel like your watching an anime. The scenery of every town and city has some sort of theme in all of them. The environment is so vibrant that you’ll feel immersed in it’s cartoony colors. The Gameplay (8/10)When I encountered the first fighting scene, I thought it would be a turn-based Jrpg game but it turns out to be an action based game play. You can change characters to who you want to control throughout the fighting scene. The controls is a bit generic because it`s mostly mash-ups and repeat. Running from one area to faint a monster to another part of the area is a bit annoying. But doing special moves can help with that. The Music (9/10)The music in every parts of the world changes and most of them are epic!.
