Great game, lots of fun. However, a number of tracks from main-series titles and basically any track from non-final-fantasy square enix games are not included from the start – they’re either DLC or not available. There are over 100 DLC tracks, at 99 cents a pop – in other words, be ready to shell out the cash if you want to play all of those. The handful of extra characters cost more than 99 cents apiece. The good news is that the base game still has a very large number of tracks and playable characters, and is generally just a ton fun.

I’m a big fan of rhythm games and all the music from Final Fantasy series are either fun or wonderfully enticing. If you have played any of the Fantasy games you’re in for a pleasant nostalgia trip. If you haven’t played any of the games, this game might not mean as much to you, but even to those who’ve never played, they can still enjoy the songs that Square-Enix has to offer; perhaps even try out one of the Final Fantasy games themselves! Of course, those are a totally different style of gameplay…

I bought this game in need to listen to the great Final Fantasy music and tap along to the beat. If you have played and were satisfied with other rythm-type games then this game is for you. Don’t expect to continuously play this game for hours upon end. This is a game you play in short bursts; a ten minute session every now and then, or just a few songs in a row. Overall it is an enjoyable experience and worth the price.

I never played the original Theatrhythm, but now I’m glad I waited for this updated edition! I’ve always enjoyed rhythm games, and I adore the Final Fantasy series, so this was an absolute must-have when I finally got a 3DS! The hardest part is deciding on a four-character team, because I love so many characters! Totally love the Final Fantasy music, though some songs are watered down versions of the originals. There are a few different modes, so you can play whatever song you like just for fun, or go into quest mode to "beat the boss", no matter what, the more you play the more you earn (characters/songs/etc).My only qualm isn’t with the game itself, but with the optional DLC, which I probably won’t get anytime soon, because you have to pay for each song individually. Hopefully they’ll have a bundle at some point, because I would love to play some Chrono Trigger songs!

This is the version to get. This has more songs and is the most polished compared to the prior DS release. It can be played with the stylus or keys. This new version also uses the New 3DS / New 2DS controls.

If you love the music of Final Fantasy, you will like this game. The rhythm game itself is pretty fun, probably on the easier side, but the nostalgia is where it’s at. I grew up playing all the final fantasy games, and the music is so iconic. You will have flashbacks of specific parts of the games when you play this and it’s great. There are a TON of song in this from every final fantasy. From the 8 pit awesomeness of the original to J pop styles in XIII and everything in between. Put on some headphones and engage in some music.

A fun rhythm game with music from all of the final fantasy games. It even has dlc songs from some of the latest final fantasy games. It also introduced new playing modes not offered in the previous game and harder challenges, like rotating arrows that greatly increase difficulty.
