In questo DVD troverete una trentina di episodi di Tom e Jerry in qualitÃ video migliorata.Ci sono episodi storici, alcuni premiati con il premio Oscar e altri dall’inserimento discutibile.Alcune assenze le trovo poco giustificate per essere un edizione celebrativa, avrei preferito inoltre qualche episodio in piÃ¹, inserirne una cinquantina sarebbe stato piÃ¹ soddisfacente per gli acquirenti e avrebbe permesso di inserire episodi che hanno dovuto restare esclusi.Nel complesso il DVD Ã¨ molto buono e lo consiglio, peccato perchÃ¨ avrebbe potuto essere una vera chicca con qualche accorgimento in piÃ¹.

I Luv cartoons but the Tom and Jerry product have never really appealed to me as there is a certain sameness to them as how many variations of a cat chasing a mouse can be devised to be different ? Also a lack of character development and dialogue for these cartoons as compared to the Warner Brothers Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies classic cartoons make them far less enjoyable for adult viewing. HOWEVER for small children like my 2 year old son their frantic pace and widely exaggerated cartoon violence make them far more enjoyable for children aged 7 and under where the lack of dialogue and character development doesn’t matter. A big plus for these cartoons are their musical scores and special effects noises which are excellent and complement the cartoon action brilliantly. The overall quality of this DVD is very good. So for small children 7 and under I give this DVD a 5 star rating and for adult viewing a 3 star rating.

This deluxe collection of Tom and Jerry over their first 70 years contains content not seen on any other authorized DVD; such as edited shorts, including one in CinemaScope reformatted in Fullscreen, and a CinemaScope remake with unadjustable black bars, revised shorts with Mammy Two-Shoes in them, and also the 7 Oscar-winning shorts uncut! The 2nd disc in this 2-disc collection contains a bunch of extras, including episodes from the 1970’s and 80’s Tom & Jerry shows respectively from Hanna-Barbera and Filmation (the latter where Fat Albert and the Brady Kids were made), and one from the 90’s Kids series, as well as one of the last episodes of Tom and Jerry Tales as a game of Mouse and Cat. It also has a documentary on Tom and Jerry also seen in the Gene Deitch Collection DVD, and 2 Chuck Jones era shorts in their original Fullscreen format. Even though the disc menus have pictures for Dickey Moe from the Gene Deitch era and 2000’s The Mansion Cat on them, neither are anywhere to be found here, nor the Mansion Cat on DVD at all, as of spring 2018! You’re in for a lot of Tom and Jerry over their first 70 years in this set, even with a bunch of drawbacks!
