Got this to help introduce my kids to different instruments and help them learn rhythm and timing. My kids are 6, 5, and 2 – I think the older two could pick those concepts up with some guided practice, otherwise it’s most fun with people who know how to keep a beat. The song selection is limited, but I still find it a fun game even with a real music background.

I am going to review this game not from a technical view, but from a view of someone who was and continues to be thoroughly entertained by it. My boyfriend has owned this game for some time, but had it in a box somewhere. Today, we dug it out because we were bored. We thought it was too funny! Yes, it’s cool to seriously try to arrange music, but it’s even more fun to use the most ridiculous “instruments” (cat suit, cheerleader) to create the most cacophonous yet hilarious songs and videos. To those who say young adults should pass on it, a 19 and 20 year old couple highly endorse this game for the sheer value of the laughs you’ll get out of it if you’re willing to let loose and be ridiculous. We were rolling it was so funny. Also, the more Mii characters you have on the system, the funnier it is because they will randomly show up in the videos, doing some crazy things.

I think the biggest issue people getting this game is they think it’s like Guitar Hero or Rock Band. If that’s what your looking for then move on, you’ll be disappointed. Now if your looking for something that will teach you a little bit about music styles, pitch, instruments, etc, then this is a decent learning tool that can be pretty fun. And if you have a Wii Fit and want to learn a bit of drumming then it will connect with your Fit board to give you foot control of a bass drum and hi hats.My only complaint of the game is, ironically, there isn’t enough music to play with. It would be nice if they had a lot more “modern” songs to play with. Now when you first start there is very little and as you do lessons and games you unlock more and more instruments and songs. This can also be a pain for someone starting off that gets in and can’t go play 50 different songs off the bat. But on the flip side if you take the time to actually go through and learn the different music styles you will unlock all the extra stuff. Just would be nice to have a lot more modern songs (Pop/Rock/etc) then the selection in the game. All in all though it’s a good game to learn about music and inspire some creativity.

I bought this game with some hesitancy after reading the very mixed reviews here but after the 10th snow day here this winter my kids have finally caved in and given it up to try out Wii Music and are hooked and have been at it for an hour unlocking instruments, are stoked to have gotten Swan Lake. It’s great. It’s simple. It’s easy enough for the 8 year old to figure out, but interesting enough to keep the 17 year old entertained too. Whoever has given this a bad review is expecting too much out of Nintendo and needs to just go buy the more expensive music games. For a simple quick music game that is silly and ridiculous and good for a bunch of long laughs, this is the one. It’s not hard to figure out, follow the lessons a couple of times, and you’re good to go.

I’ve always loved my Wii–just wish I had more time to play it. :-) We got this game as a family Christmas present, and boy was it worth it. Everyone, from my 3 year old son, to my wife and I enjoy the game. Nintendo has really thought out a lot of these type of games, and, with the unique wireless aspect of playing the Wii, it really adds to the game play. Some of the fun parts of the game we enjoy are the option to play songs with bells. We’ve done this lots during Christmas in our family with real bells, so having a virtual/game version was a blast. Wii Music offers simple songs to more advanced, but it’s a blast to play together. My son really enjoys the Dog Suit “instrument” option. It’s funny how Nintendo added some goofy things like this, but, within one of the jam session options, you can select to “play” a dog suit. This involves barking and howling, moving your hands, etc. Lots of fun, and, as I said, my son gets a kick out of it.Within the section that allows you to conduct a symphony, it’s fun to see what you can get the players to do. My son gets them to sweat almost every time since he has them playing so fast, and then holding a note for a long period of time.In the end, this is a fantastic game that the whole family can enjoy. There are lots of varieties (rather than repeat them here, I suggest reading the product description) of game options, with some of our favorites above. You really can’t go wrong with this one…

Lots and lots of fun – my only disappointment is that multi-player mode behaves strangely and is hard to activate.

When we received Wii Music for Christmas, I thought it would be a hit for the younger set in our house, but not hopeful for the teens. I was pleasantly surprised to find my 13 yr old son (Guitar Hero enthusiast and musician) and his 12 yr old cousin (star athlete) completely engrossed in the game for hours. They loved it! We all love it. It’s completely different from Guitar Hero, which we all like as well. It stretches the kids in authentically musical ways, and yet there is still a fun game-playing component. They’ve created many videos of their musical compositions, too. Don’t expect Guitar Hero, be ready for the option to improvise, compose and try your hand at “playing” a new instrument.

This game felt like a fun music lesson. I enjoyed playing around with it, but was ultimately disappointed to learn that I couldn’t compose my own songs. The game lets you rearrange and tweak existing music, and that’s the extent of creative content.I really enjoyed the mini-games section where I had to analyze pitch and play notes at the right time (the handbell mini-game is the only part of this game that resembles guitar hero). I’m pleased with the purchase, but I feel the advertisements were misleading. I’m afraid a lot of shoppers will be disappointed, thinking that you actually get to PLAY these instruments.

We purchased the WII MUSIC for our grandsons ages 5& 8; both boys play the “pretend instruments” and have a really good time playing and learning music. I like that they both can have a great time and they both enjoy playing music it’s good for many age groups.(Even mom & dad had fun)!I bought this at retrolio mainly because the reviews were very positive.
