We purchased this for our whole family, but with our 4 year old in mind because she loves music so much. We have not been disappointed. She loves the Quick Jams, can do some of the games and challenges, and really likes all of the different instruments she can use. As parents, we are glad it is fun for her now, but will grow with her as she gets older and more accomplished in musical knowledge. We all like to play the game, and find the lessons very informative. My husband was a musician throughout school and remarked on how well Wii Music teaches such concepts as rhythm, beat, and pitch. It was a great purchase for our family!

My 5 and 3 year olds have fun playing the various instruments, but they don’t have the best rhythm, so the songs sound vaguely the the real thing. Wii Music does its best to make their movements sound like the real thing. If they play too fast, it will put in extra “accent” notes. If they play too slow, the back up musicians will play “filler” notes until they catch up. All-in-all, I don’t think they could have done any better making it sound as good as possible with the varying rhythms my kids play. There are also tons of other features that we really haven’t tapped into that might be more appealing to older kids and real musicians, such as creating and saving music videos. Also, the same person can play multiple instruments and combine them like making different tracks of a recording.

Wii Music is a fun game for younger kids and, at least in my case, their grandparents. There’s really not a lot to the game. You are introduced to various musical instruments, most traditional and a few fanciful ones and exposed to the rudiments of making music. This is definitely not “Guitar Hero” – and it isn’t intended to be. It is intended to be a way for younger kids to have fun and maybe learn a little bit about music – and it accomplishes those goals with ease and style. I’d say it is suitable for kids up to 7 or so.Jerry

I bought this as a gift for my mother (75 yrs). She has enjoyed playing the horns, especially.

My wife wanted a game we could play as a family. The only part of this we have played so far is the hand-bells. For Christmas, we played the hand-bells as a family. We played “O Christmas Tree” and other non-Christmas carols. It was quite fun.I am not sure we will do much else with this game. It is skewed for the young. It works on rhythm and timing. It will be a standard for family gatherings.

I’m Who This Game Was Made For. Ever since Nintendo started hyping up this game, I have been excited for it, and I’m so glad that I ignored the reviews and got it anyway. This game is exactly what i hoped it would be: Addictive and a freaking blast. Any time that I tap a beat on my desk, with a pencil, or just all the little songs that come up during any given day, I think of how to put that in a Wii Music songArranging songs is a blast, and it’s HARD! I think this game may actually be too hard for some other reviewers that didn’t like it; it takes dedication to re-record each part until it sounds just like you want, arranging them into a song that you love. It’s complicated sometimes, depending on how your artistic vision is.I’m so glad that I bought this game; i’ve had hours and hours of entertainment. It can take an hour or two to make a good six-piece arrangement, and then I record it and put the videos on YouTube where wii music lovers all comment on each other’s videos :) It’s great! If you thought you’d like this game before seeing the reviews, you will probably love this game! If you have any interest, get it. It’s worth it.

While Wii music wasn’t exactly what I expected it to be (that’s why the 4 stars overall), I really like it. It’s creative and fun. It still requires movement — though it is possible to sit and “play” some of the instruments, the experience and end result are more robust if one stands and moves around.I like that it allows interaction between participants without anyone having to lose (and experience the sad-faced Mii of the loser in Wii Sports and Wii Play — why can’t they shake hands and be good sports???).Even my kids like it. Even the one who is into fierce competition and getting “Pro” status in Wii Sports for all of her Miis. The creation of music was different than I expected — but still fun. The end result of just creating an overlay to canned tunes seemed a little lame at first, but the end result is fun to create and interestingly pleasant to listen to. The games are challenging in very different ways from Wii Sports.I highly recommend it for siblings (or others) who need time to play together while taking a break from constant competition.

This game was carefully planned out in the release. The graphics aren’t great, but it is not about that. One thing that is really fun- mii maestro. You are able to conduct a whole orchestra, and in some songs, a chorus. You can go to instrumental improv, where you can play with over 60 instruments including drums, piano, violin, trumpet and many more. With this game, everyone can be a professional musician right in your home.
