Awesome as usual. I love the 3DS. I think the game looks great and plays phenomenally. Can’t go wrong with a Yoshi game.
Surprised by the mixed reviews on this one!I played the original Yoshi’s Island for SNES when I was a kid. This new one is a really good follow-up to that. It stays consistent in the design, but it also introduces a lot of newer, interesting gameplay dynamics to keep you entertained. Only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because I’m not really a huge fan of the tilt-the-DS-to-play parts that make use of the 3DS gyroscope… that just kind of annoys me when I’m playing the game laying down because I have to sit up to use that.In the original Yoshi’s Island game, you had to get the 30 stars, 20 red coins, and 5 flowers all in one run to get a perfect score on the level. If you were the kind of perfectionist going for that, it was kind of frustrating and time-consuming. With this new game, it keeps track of which you’ve already achieved so you can just replay a level and get each thing separately if you want (30 stars in one run, 20 red coins in a second).The game may be a bit too forgiving though. If you are struggling with a level (have died maybe 3 times in a row), it’ll give you a pair of wings that let you float as you wish and make you immune to enemies. It felt like playing with a Game Genie or something.
If you have played Yoshi games in the past you will like this new game. There area few new elements, but this is a classis yoshi game. It has a very cute story. Be mindful this game can be played through rather quickly if you don’t find all red coins, yoshi coins, and flowers.
If you like the mario and yoshi franchises, you will like this game. I am 30 and have been playing these games since I was five. I play my gameboy a few times a year, mostly when I am sick, traveling, or otherwise incapacitated. My husband tries to get me every new game as it comes out, and this was the last one that he got. It was terrific fun and I beat it in two days. A little harder than the New Super Mario Brothers game, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Somewhat different from the original game I played as a kid, but still has everything i missed from my childhood.

This is a kick off your shoes and just have fun game that makes a great gift and perfect for travel, especially those with younger children. No worries of it being kid friendly. A big plus for a gaming collection and retrolio always has great prices. My boys and I love fun, no stress games, especially after a long day at work. (yes we’re old(er), my boys are in their 20’s and well, we won’t mention mine-although this sure beats out black and white TV) Get it, have FUN.

Anyone who loved the original GameBoy Yoshi’s Island will like this game. Of course it doesn’t beat the original but it does it justice. Its a bit easier than the original, just to warn those who are looking for a challenge. I usually struggle with the water levels but this one was easy peasy for me.

This game is adorable and very pretty. I personally enjoy the stress free feeling of it. With calming/fun music, cute sound effects, vibrant colors and great animation. I’m not a Mario expert and I’ve only played 2 levels so far, but it’s fair to say this is definitely worth the $26 I paid for it.
