I liked it a lot. Loved the story, the characters, how everything is priced together. You could stop after one end or you could get them all and learn the whole story. It’s definitely not for people who want crazy action. The puzzles where fun too.

The 999 series is the basis of what all mystery games should aspire to be.I’m pretty much spot on with all of the wonderful reviews about this game. Unlike most brain-dead games that are coming out on the market today, this is one game that actually makes you want to think. I had a friend play it one day, and despite his thinking mystery games are boring, ended up playing 2 and a half hours straight. Point being, this game is just so addictive to play.This game improves on a lot of what went on in the first 999 game. The only thing I can point out that I did not like as much is that it allows you to view a FLOW CHART of all the possible story paths you can take in the game. It’s very useful in that you can jump around to previous decisions you made if you get a bad ending, but the downside is that it shows the ENTIRE FLOW CHART. I would have liked to see parts of the flow chart covered in mystery until you reach that path so as to not know if I’m doomed before I even get to the ending. Other than the flow chart issue, the game is a complete must have for anybody with half a brain.P.S.Resist the urge to look up the solution online if you are stumped! It will make you feel dirty afterwords if you do, trust me.

Already knew that I would like this game because I had read an LP of 999 and part of an LP about this game. LP is short for Let’s Play, and I was reading screenshot and text LPs over at Something Awful. Anyway, the LP on VLR (this game) was going pretty slowly, so I decided to just buy the game and throw some money over in Aksys’ direction. They more than deserve it for making great games like this. If only they had more mainstream appeal, they might be able to make a sequel.Anyway, as great as the game is, I can’t recommend it if you haven’t played or seen 999 in some fashion.

If you are a fan of mystery, character driven drama, science fiction, and lovingly crafted worlds, then you owe it to yourself to check out Virtue’s Last Reward. It is both worthy as a sequel to the magnificent 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors, and as a stand alone game in its own right. I will caution that anyone interested in 999 should play that first, as Virtue’s Last Reward will contain spoilers for the first game.I’d love to go into great detail about the game, but time spent reading this review is time you could be playing this game. This is the first Vita title that I’ve gotten 100% completion for, because I was so engaged and engrossed with all the story that it has to offer. I found myself continually staying up until the late hours of the night, telling myself “Just a little bit further, I’ll just finish this next bit of story, and then I’ll stop…!” It’s a fantastic game, and a series that greatly deserves your attention and support!

I love mystery/puzzle games and this one is a great title for the ps vita. It has quite a few endings depending on choices made during certain points in the game and you have the ability to see each and every ending. Once you complete one scenario, a decision tree is visible so that you can return to a previous point and make a different decision to see the new ending. All endings and decisions already made are visible so that you don’t have the same experience twice. Because of that sytem, the replay value is very high and you learn something new about the characters at each new ending. If you’re into puzzlers and games that require you to be able to closely observe your surroundings, definitely pick this one up.

This game will keep you guessing. The voice acting is second to none, the characters are unique and fun to listen to. The puzzles are quite involved. Be warned, you will come across many game over screens. Don’y worry, that’s part of the game due to your choices. Luckily, you don’t have to replay all the puzzles you just played to make different choices.

A family member recommended I get this game but finding it for a reasonable price has been difficult until I got it here. The Game Arrived On Time, Works & Has No Psychical Damage. He only negative thing I have to say is I wish a case came with the game.

If I had to describe this game in one word it would be quirky. Fun puzzles and difficult choices await you. There are multiple settings as well if you are bad at puzzles… I didn’t use them but the option is there if you just want to play it more for the excellent story rather than the brainteasers.

First, let me say that I love the presentation of this game. The way the story is written, developed, and acted by the characters is extremely dynamic and fun to watch. This is Japan’s version of the American Saw movies, with a whole lot of science fiction, medical mumbojumbo, and corniness. The game tries to be all things at once – serious, thrilling, intense, mystifying, confusing, funny – and for the most part, it works great. There are a few scenes that come across rather strange, but nothing’s out of place in this weird, imaginative narrative.The gameplay side – the Escape the Room type of levels – are both short and very long. It can take you quite some time to figure out their puzzles. Most clues are directly in your face from the start, others you have to search a bit for. But learning how to combine elements, and use them in the correct places is very intuitive and smart. I say the levels are short also, because once you solve a puzzle, you’re very likely to never forget it, meaning you can blow through most levels again a second time very quickly. This seems to be a game that you probably wouldn’t come back to once you finish – at least let it sit for a while and forget about it before you come back; let the experience become fresh again.The only thing that keeps me from giving a full 5-star review is how the narrative is completed. You can complete the game in about 5 hours, but that’s only one of the many endings. The jarring thing was, in my playthrough, was that.

I was a pretty big fan of 999, so when I discovered this game I just had to get it (I didn’t even have a Vita then). The feel is a tad different from the previous game: from the very beginning the story, setting, and characters are a little more surreal than the previous game. That’s not a bad thing, though: all of the plot twists are surprising but make sense within the context of the game, the puzzles are rarely frustrating, and the characters are interesting. Several improvements really make this game: dialogue seen can be skipped, both versions have a notepad function that lets you make notes for puzzles and remember important bits of information, and there is an in game timeline that both helps keep track of what you have already done (something frustrating in the previous game) and lets you jump to important plot points without having to go through all of the branches over again.There are some downsides: there is a clear line between puzzle solving and story, for the most part. In 999, some of the most interesting character development came from conversations and scenes within the puzzle rooms, which made the game feel more natural. In VLR, while there’s dialogue between characters in the puzzle rooms, important plot pieces or character development are found outside of the puzzles. In addition, in the 3DS version of the game there is a game breaking bug in a specific puzzle room: if you pick up that version be sure to look up information about that bug to make sure you.

not a huge fan of games that tell me the story rather than letting me play the story, but looking at it as a different approach to gaming it feels fresh and unique in it’s own right.you will feel drawn to certain characters. you will build opinions and feelings about the decisions you have to make.good game.

So, here I am, 60+ hours later, having finished Zero Escape.It took months for me to get to the ending, but that’s because I play only a few times a week. Also, if I’d had to play this game straight through, with no side diversions into other games, I think I might have lost my mind. Because, as much fun as this game is, there are times when you simply have to walk away from it, either because it’s feeling too repetitive or because you’ve encountered a puzzle that you just can’t get through no matter how many times you try.That’s a negative way of starting the review, but I did enjoy this game greatly. It really does make you think, and it’s like a good mystery novel. It keeps throwing plot twists at you and forcing you to replay different scenarios. Throughout most of the game I thought, “There’s no way they can pull this all together and have all of it make sense,” but I am pleased to admit that I was wrong about that. Of course, you have to be willing to accept sci-fi explanations, but if you’re willing to spend months of your life playing a game that encourages time travel and alternate endings, you’re probably willing to suspend disbelief, as I was.When this game hits its stride, it’s incredibly absorbing. Yes, you do find yourself clicking through literally hundreds of pages of text (not a surprise because this is essentially an interactive novel). But the story and the characters keep you absorbed. I found some of the characters much more interesting than others. Phi p.
