I liked the game but the ending left a lot to be desired. I think the only way to get a real ending is with DLC, and that’s not fair because I’m not on XBOX LIVE. And I don’t think there’s a version of the game that comes with the DLC. I think this is the only XBOX 360 version.

I really didn’t expect the game to be good after reading all the negative feedback. But to my surprise the game is really, really, good. Many people are looking for that MW3 feeling when they play a video game. This game has a great story so far, Im just on chapter 3 of the game and im loving it so far. The case that surrounds the main character is great. I’ll leave more feedback when I get done beating the game. Trust me, pick up the game and try it out. Just one warning, ” Stay in the light”.

This is a great thriller game! It can be creepy at times but the story is fantastic. It’s about a popular writer that is currently suffering from writer’s block and so his wife tells him to take a vacation to clear his mind. In reality she really wants him to begin to write and she thought what better place than a relaxing lake to do so. However, something weird happens and his wife is abducted, or so it seems. Then the story goes on as to what exactly happens to his wife and how can they escape this horrible nightmare. It is a fantastic game which is sure to bring you lots of fun and jumps along the way!Completely recommend this! My only regret is not buying this sooner! Nevertheless, enjoy!

I’m 5 chapters deep into the story so far, and I’m really enjoying this game. The story really pulls you in and the atmosphere is often genuinely frightening. Combat can be a little spotty (dodging almost never works the way you’d like and you’re almost always surrounded), but it really makes you feel like you’re an average guy opposing the forces of darkness.

Probably one of the best horror/mystery games I’ve played in some time. What I really like about it is the games logic. Alan wake doesn’t just run from everything or hide, he picks up a pistol and his flashlight and journeys through the darkness. yes unlike most horror based games Alan wake actually has the mind to defend himself from the darkness. If you want a good story and have a fair amount of time on your hands then Alan wake is the game for you.

It’s Remedy, so gamers will be familiar with the understated realism of the level design and graphics which further engross you into the game. Also present are noir references that end up being darkly funny. The game can be a little samey in the first couple of chapters but it opens up and provides plenty of variety and thrills.

Greatly enjoyed this game and it’s DLC. Typically I do not get into the adventure games, but the Twin Peaks/Twilight Zone story pulled me in.It does have it’s frustrations with controls and the lack of ammo supplies was both good and bad. Good that it made me plan my steps more carefully, bad that I had to always keep it in mind, no killing sprees going on here. Also this is not really a horror game, more of a thriller, kind of reminded me of a recent movie, Vanishing on 7th Street (something like that). Conserve your supplies, run to the light, ghosts in the background, etc.Limited replay value, so intially I’d say rent, but being that the price is so low I’d just buy it and it’s DLC down the road.Of course if Twin Peaks/Twilight zone stories do not interst you, skip this. Plenty of other adventure games like Uncharted or Enslaved that you may enjoy more.

Although a bit clique and at times repetitive, Alan Wake met my expectations and you are reading a review from a guy whose been eating up horror games ever since the very first Clock Tower (ever since the first Castlevania for that matter). The story of the insomniac, temperamental horror writer whose stories are coming to life is nothing new (The Dark Half, In the Mouth of Madness). This is where Alan Wake fails to terrify the way it should, because you know what’s turning the world upside down just by reading the back of the box. I would rather leave it to the imagination to guess why the world has gone insane.Still, for what story this game tells, it tells it well. It’s played out in intervals. At the start of every “Episode” you talk to people, get to know the town, play past events prior to Alan’s arrival to Bright Falls. Then you’re thrown deep into a dark environment, most of the time in the woods, but sometimes you’ll find yourself in a specific area of the town and all you have to do is make it to someplace alive. Then the whole cycle starts over again with the next “Episode.” This makes for a very linear game. I was hoping for a more sandbox style game where you can explore and find hidden objectives inside peoples houses, or in the shopping mall or the lumber mill. Instead you are tossed wherever the director wants you to be. But the gameplay was fast paced and the environments were suspenseful enough to keep me playing until I absolutely had to go sleep. At work or.
