This was a pretty good game. It made me jump a couple times. It’s worth playing. There are some parts were I did get a little bored but overall it was a fun game. Good storyline and graphics. I hope there is a number 2.

When this game came out I didn’t get it for only one reason, because Red Dead Redemption came out at the same time. Two years later I remembered about it and I decided to buy it and it was well worth it. It is an amazing linear story. It feels like a tv show. It has its twists and turns along the way. Definitely a must have!
This is an example why Stephen King needs to jump into developing stories for horror based games. This is a close representation of what could come from the mind of Stephen King. It nails the mysterious atmosphere, with strange characters, and an unknown force that is against you. Alan Wake is a great character and someone different to play as. He is someone that writes novels and his wife wants him to write another while they are on vacation. Alan completely disagrees with this and then events unfold from there.Now the force that took your wife is the darkness and your trying to save her from it. The darkness is a evil force that can only be defeated by shining light on it to make it vunerable. Its amazing how they utilized it from the vehicles that you use, to spotlights, and even driving segiments. The darkness can consume anything so you have to be on your toes. I didn’t consider it that scary but I was surprised a few times. They way you avoid the enemies is pretty amazing by the use of the dodge to avoid enemy attacks. Its done very fluidly which shines how well the controls are for the game. Aiming at enemies has never been a problem and even when your run out of bullets for a gun, it will switch to your other gun. If you don’t have a gun then just run into the light. The game has a check point system that is always around each corner. You will make steady progress through this game.Now a special thing about this game is how its presented like a tv show. I love this game. End of story. Some people call it a thriller, others call it a horror. I just call it beautiful. There’s too much to say about this game, and it’s been out now long enough that if you want a very detailed review, you can find endless results.It really has been giving me nightmares. The dark makes me paranoid and I am somewhat unwilling to go out into the night now. Call me a chicken if you want, but I’d just say it’s due to Alan Wake’s excellent story telling. Darkness is something that all of us have a primal fear of, and Alan Wake, which is more thriller than horror but still can scare you at times, touches on this fear at appropriate moments. It’s been 2 weeks since I finished it, and it’s been 2 weeks since I’ve had good sleep, even with a light turned on. I’ve played almost every horror game you could think of, but for some reason Alan Wake scared me more. Alan Wake deals with insanity, schizophrenia, love, hate, vengeance, darkness, light, the power of story-telling, and the strain of life. Somehow despite all of its mythos, the reality of Alan Wake is what’s truly the heart of it.

I OFTEN STEER AWAY FROM THIS KIND OF GAME ALTOGETHER. BUT ONCE I POPPED THIS GAME IN I WAS HOOKED. THE FIRST LEVEL WILL TELL YOU WHAT KIND OF GAME YOU ARE ABOUT TO PLAY. I KNEW FROM THE FIRST FEW MINUTES THAT THIS WAS GOING TO BE A THRILLER. I ENJOYED THIS GAME ON SO MANY LEVELS. THE SOUND EFFECTS AND PRESENTATION IS SICK. THE CHARACTERS ARE BELIEVABLE. THE WAY THIS GAME USES FOG , WIND , AND DARKNESS WHILE IN THE GAME WILL MESS WITH YOUR MIND. I MUST HAVE SAID “AH HELL” 20 TIMES BECAUSE I KNEW SOMETHING WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. THE STORY IS VERY GOOD AND IS AMPLIFIED BY THE COOLEST EPISODIC ENDINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN A GAME. I CAN’T PRAISE THAT PART ENOUGH. IT MANAGES TO SERVE YOU UP GAME GOODNESS IN PORTIONS THAT MAKE THE GAME EASIER TO JUMP IN AND OUT OF. MORE GAMES SHOULD TRY THIS. THE ENVIRONMENTS LOOK GREAT. ALAN CONTROLS RESPONSIVELY AND THE SHOOTING IS VERY TIGHT. THE ENEMIES CAN SOMETIMES OVERWHELM YOU BY USING SHEER NUMBERS, CONFINED AREAS, AND FLANKING TACTICS. THE TRICK IS TO KNOW WHEN TO FIGHT AND WHEN TO FLEE. IT CAN BE TOUGH BUT ANY GAMER SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE FINAL CREDITS. THE GAME HAS FLAWS. BUT NOTHING MAJOR. MY ONLY TRUE GRIPE ABOUT THE GAME HAS TO DO WITH WHEN ALAN ENCOUNTERS “POSSESSED” OBJECTS AND VEHICLES. THEY CAN HAVE UNCANNY ACCURACY WHEN TRACKING YOU DOWN. NOT TO MENTION WHEN THE ENE.
Alan Wake looked fantastic for the past couple of years, but with all the delays I wasn’t sure if it was ever actually going to be released. However, I am extremely glad that the delays didn’t spoil the game with overproduction.It is quite interesting to use light-based weapons in conjunction with normal weapons, and here the game succeeds, because the controls are very simple, even though you can do quite a lot with them. As someone else said, you point the flashlight at something, and it becomes your targeting reticule. Very cool.The story is…confusing. You think you know what’s going on, and then you find something out, but then it turns out not to be true…or is it? Who’s lying? You don’t really know. I spent a great deal of the time trying to figure out what was real and what wasn’t. Because even about halfway through the game when you start to gain allies who believe how crazy things are getting, you wonder if maybe it isn’t a dream. Anyways, it’s a psychological game, not as dark as Max Payne, but in the same vein.Basically though, it comes down to this: The game works. It is emotionally engaging, the characters feel real and believable, so we care about them and what happens to them. I’m sure more will be cleared up with downloadable content, and the ending is open enough to leave room for a sequel. The game doesn’t take too long to complete…I started it last night and only played for about an hour, and then knocked out the rest in about six hours. And this is re.

This game is not one that you would want to play alone late at night. The premise is a little un-nerving and since most of it occurs in a night time setting the visability isn’t the greatest. The graphics are good but your character seems to be at a disavantage when battling your foes. Luckily the game lets you begin the fight again when you get killed.
Alan Wake is an interesting adventure. I’m not gonna go into too much detail, but I’ll break a few things down.GameplayThe shooting is okay, but using light as a weapon was a lot of fun. The running could get annoying because he can only spring for like 10 seconds so you ended up walking for a while to get to the next safe haven.StoryThis is where the game was great. There was a great captivating story which kept me in my seat. Unfortunately, it was short. I beat Episodes 1-6 in about 8 hours. At least I still have the DLC to play.8.5/10

I’ve played this game before but only made it to the beginning of chapter 3 before it was sacrificed for halo reach. Now that I have my own copy, can’t wait to finish it. Really curious how it will end. And thanks for the free dlc code that came with it. More to look forward to.

I wasn’t sure about Alan Wake before I got it. But I was looking for a good game to get into and I remember hearing alot about this game. So whatever I got it. It was amazing. Blew my mind! The amount of detail that they put into this game is what I really fell in love with. While playing it, it felt like watching a TV series or a Movie. And I think that’s what I loved about it the most. Lots of voice acting, and things to listen to and see. And the gameplay in itself is just great. I beat the game in just a week, but the main reason I finished it so quickly is because I got totally absorbed into the story and couldn’t put it down. Just like a good book. If you want a creepy horror-ish story to follow and love your games that are more than just about the gameplay but about the concept and story. Then this is for you, buy it now!!

Crime novelist Alan Wake is a delightful character to play in this atmospheric and story-driven game. There are a number of memorable characters (Alan’s agent, the brothers from Old Gods of Asgard, etc). The story is compelling and moves well, up to the end. Most importantly, the game mechanics feel solid – surprising since fighting with a pistol and a flash-light seems unwieldy. It even has a great sound-track. I never thought I’d hear Roy Orbison in a third-person-shooter.The negatives are few: It feels like they were trying to stretch to a certain number of hours of gameplay. Like everyone else, I like more gameplay for my dollar. I just like it to be real game play and not filler. After about half way through, it seems like they started jamming in repetitive content (kill the same things in the same forests; rinse and repeat) just to pad out the game. This slows the story down just a little too much toward the end. The other problem is with the story’s ultimate destination. It’s a great ride up until the final moments, when it concludes with an unsatisfying event that leaves more questions than answers. Not “questions to be answered next time”, but “how could someone have possibly known to do that?” questions.It’s a solid game that I would like to see more of – and the end does set it up for a sequel. I’m concerned that the low sales numbers may prevent this from happening. If you find it discounted at half price, it’d be a steal. If you enjoy games with a story and want.

Man, too bad this game came out in the same week ad Red Dead Redemption and didn’t sell well.This game is great!For those out there looking for innovative, original ideas, this is the game to go for. The gameplay is different from everything in the market, but it is really well executed.It has a great horror story, and the way it is told, throgh the protagonist and manuscripts scaterred around the levels is unprecedent. Great voice acting.I also recommend downloading the 2 DLC expansions , that give closure to the story and prepare you for the sequel, which I really hope gets made, in spite of the poor sales.Do yourself a favor and buy this game. It is now being bundled with new Xbox 360 slims, it will guarantee you engaging hours of fun.

Since then it’s popped on and off of people’s radars at sparing intervals, and now that it’s finally been released, it seems as if Duke Nukem Forever should be only just around the corner. It can then only be described as fortunate that with such a long development period, Alan Wake has turned out to be a compelling and rewarding title to experience.The game’s protagonist holds the title’s namesake, and is presented as a highly-successful suspense-thriller novelist who — with due thanks to an extended case of writer’s block — hasn’t managed to put words to paper in the two years since his last release. He and his wife Alice take off to the quaint town of Bright Falls, nestled within the mountains, in an effort to get away from the fast-paced New York lifestyle, and to give Alan a change of scenery and a chance to get over his ailment. After a brief argument between the two, Wake’s wife disappears, and the writer begins finding pages to a manuscript for a novel he hasn’t written yet. What’s worse is that the horrors scribed into the document begin occurring in earnest, and all of this sets off a mystery that’s much bigger than Alan Wake himself.The driving force here is undoubtedly the unyielding fiction backing the whole of the package. When I first purchased Alan Wake I was a bit skeptical about the narrative and more importantly the 60 dollar price tag. But after I finished the game all those went to ease because what this game screams is QUALITY, not QUANTITY.This game has an awesome storyline that will keep you hooked till the very last scene, and even after. The gameplay is easy to get a hold on but at the same time can still be challenging and fun. And the graphics are top knotch, except for a few face animations that could have used a little more work, but that doesn’t hinder the experience that you will have from this amazing game.Instead of buying Red Dead Redemption like every other person in the world, buy this game because I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve played this game twice and am getting ready for a third run on Nightmare difficulty! It’s a great game with very few drawbacks. It’s very story driven so it’s for gamers that like a game that revolves around story. There isn’t too much action, but the excitement lies in the game play, such as enemies popping out of the bushes or the Healing lights blowing out. There are also two DLCs for this game that continue the story, which I am going to be downloading soon.
