THis game has deeper story than bioshock. It doesn’t rely on cheap surprises to scare you. Its not gory and the language is clean. Its controls are simple and so is its HUD. Voice acting is top notch and the cinematic feel of the action adds greatly to the experience. Episodic format of the levels make each level a cliffhanger and always explain in detail what is going on, so the story never escapes you. Buy this game and get its DLC!

Alan Wake is a story driven game from Remedy. Alan Wake plays out like a TV series with episodes (Chapters), Cliffhangers each episode and shows “Previously on Alan Wake” upon starting a new episode. Throughout the whole game Alan Wake will narrate here and there about the situation and his own thoughts, which was very interesting and a big plus for me. Alan Wakes wife goes missing and he sets out to look for her in a small town called “Bright Falls”. This is one of my favorite titles of all time but was a little over shadowed by some bigger blockbuster titles that were released around the same time.Story – Alan Wake is a very popular writer, who hasn’t wrote anything for about 2 years. He now is on vacation with his wife (Alice). In a small town called Bright Falls. Without giving too much away for those who haven’t played it yet, I’ll keep it brief. You arrive in Bright Falls with your wife who has a phobia of the dark. Your wife goes missing soon after your arrival. Wake travels through the town trying to find his wife, a lot of the game has you running through the woods and such during the night.Alan Wake soon discovers pages all around the town, to a thriller that he can’t remember writing. With this and many other mysteries, the game will have you hooked all the way through and have you on the edge of your seat. It really does a good job adding suspenseful moments with some well done horror moments also. This game is very dark and can freak you out sometimes. They do a.

As a horror and fps fan, this game is very fun. What makes it even more fun is the seamless integration of cinematic elements into the game. This is the first game I’ve played that has successfully and completely made you feel like you were part of a movie. There are, of course, many games that contain cinematics and attempt to make you feel like you’re part of the action. However, with nearly all of them, the effect creates choppiness and/or a disconnect with the action and first-person experience. Not so with Alan Wake. The developers use a clever mix of narration and smooth/seamless cinematic elements to pull off the effect perfectly. Combine that with a story line that lends itself so well to cinema and you’ve got a great game!

I waited for a while to buy this game… was already playing a couple others so I decided to hold off. Now that I saw it around $20 I picked it up right away.It has easily become one of my favorite games on XBox360. It’s a great story and great graphics to match. So entertaining, my girlfriend started to watch me play. She was hiding behind a pillow… but she was watching. It is scary kids. Definitely some thrills. Sounds when you’re blasting enemies with your flashlight will spook you for sure.I was actually entertained by the characters in this game. I found myself laughing at Barry and wanting to get Alan through the story to figure out what’s happening.Really hoping for a sequel. Already downloaded and played through the DLCs (The Signal DLC came with the game) and they were on par with the game as well. I can’t wait for more “Episodes!”

Best story and gameplay ever in a game created, no lie

This game feels like a mix between Resident Evil and the movie Shutter Island. The story is amazing which happens to be better than most of the newer movies their releasing these days in the theaters. Definitely a nice change a pace from all the run of the mill FPS & fighters. Graphics are mind blowing which really helps the game create a creepy atmosphere. I haven’t play a game that has made the hair on my arms stand on end since the very first Resident Evil!If your looking for game that has a great story, gameplay, graphics, scary atmosphere, and is a departure from the norm … then give Alan Wake a try.

Just a few thoughts if you are considering buying.1. Like the others say, the game is linear, with one way to go. I love games that let me explore terrain, and would have liked to be able to wander around a bit more.2. I am not a very skilled gamer (not coordinated) and I managed to solve the game at “normal” setting pretty easily. Although I was thrilled to be able to solve a game (!!!!) a really good player may want to start at hard or nightmare. Even the final battle was pretty easy for me, I think it only took me three tries. It is also rather a short game, it only took me a week of evenings to finish… most games take me much longer.3. I loved the story, the way you had to battle the bad guys, and the scenery was great! Kudos to the design staff!4. I did not like the fact that when you completed a section, all your stuff gets taken away and you have to start again with nothing. I also did not like some of the scenes when you had to just run and escape something… you don’t really get to enjoy the graphics when you are frantically running around all the time. All in all it was a good game, and I will purchase a sequel if one does come out. I probably won’t buy it right away and may wait til the price comes down a bit. I would have rather spent 29.99 than 49.99.
