Basically, if you’re a fan of Mass Effect’s play style, and the spy genre, this is an incredible game. Very open play style, where you can choose to ally or kill different factions/people, customize your gear and weaponry, and overcome situations in a variety of styles, be it with guns, explosives, or stealth.

I purchased this game for the Xbox 360 without any idea what to really expect other than a shooter. As a shooter it’s a mediocre game, and there are a lot of better titles out there. As an overall game though, it’s a fun title. The graphics and controls can be a bit clunky, but are still good. The AI is usually decent, but sometimes will have a complete meltdown which can be frustrating or disappointing. The story progression and the characters are excellent. What makes this game is the choices you can make and the results of those actions. Do you try to do X, or save person Y, or try to figure out alternative Z. All of the main characters in the game you can attempt to become friends or enemies with, ally with them or betray them, let them live or kill them (or let them get killed). The RPG elements are a split of perks for performing certain actions or accomplishments, and a selection of skills and specialties to suit your play style. Alpha Protocol is substantially longer game than a normal shooter. The multiple endings are also a nice touch even though they are all lackluster in their execution. Overall I enjoyed this game, and I’m really glad I ended up picking it up. I would suggest giving it a try.

Ever want to live put your James Bond and/or Jack Bauer fantasies? Well, here you go. You get to be a secret agent working for an agency so secret that it doesn’t officially exist, and when stuff gets FUBAR you are naturally left to fend for yourself in a variety of exotic locales. You can specialize in either run and gun skills or stealth skills, but the stealth mode in this game has been done much better in games like the Hitman series. I chose to shoot eveybody and spent two entire days glued to my TV. I hope I still have a job, cuz I didn’t go in for those two days. Also, you get to level up your character sort of like in the Fallout games, but the leveling up system doesn’t impact the gameplay as much a in Fallout. I would have rated this higher, but I read that there are no plans for a DLC, so once you complete the game, that’s all she wrote. At its current price, though, there is no excuse for not owning this game.

I really enjoyed the game. I Would love to see a part 2. The price was good and the game was good for a beginner.

First of all im doing this by phone so please bear with me. Also note that this is a review of the xbox 360 version of the game. For a long time I was excited for this game bit almost didnt get it because of the reviews, dont pass this game up. Im going to try and keep this short/blunt. Alpha Protocol is a good game! However it isnt for everybody. Don’t go in expecting splinters level of stealh game play ie hang from stuff. Don’t expect a third person shooter like gears of war, and dont expect mass effect! I can not stress that last one enough. While it has issues with textures poping, I am on my second play and have not had any AI issues. This game as said before doesnt have the best graphics but what it does have are more then good enough. Now this game is a bit….rough. It does not pamper you like most games today. I read a person saying it should have gears of war cover bit I never had an issue pressing A as soon as I hit cover. I also read people say its hard to shoot…..its an rpg not a shooter lvl up your skill and any gun can be awesome (although it isnt hard to do so even before hand).I guess what im trying to say is if you are actually any good at gaming then sneaking and shooting are not as hard as people say. If you want a fun interesting game then dont skip this, just be sure you can handle playing something that doesnt hold your hand all the time.FOR PARENTS:If you want to know how child safe this is, it does have (suggested) sex that you need to go out of your.

Alpha protocol wasn’t that fun at first, but it does get way better as you progress in the storyline and learn more skills. Just for those who aren’t accustomed to RPG’s, it is a good shooter if you level up the skills of the guns that you want to use. At first you can’t hit the broad side of a barn, but once you either find mods for your guns hidden in the levels, or purchuse through the black market (and level up your guns), it turns into an awesome shooter. Just be patient, and the further you progress in the game, new guns, mods, armors, and gadgets will be available on the market. There is actually quite a bit of weapons and mods to find and buy. This is not really a run and gun game, nor is it really a stealth game. It’s more of a game where you have to approach each situation carefully. Stealth and firepower is an option, but neither will see you through the game alone. It’s linear in that aspect, but the abilities and skills are very fun, and this is a really fun game in general. It’s worth the price

Alpha Protocol follows Agent Thorton has he pursues Al-Shaheed and a terrorist organization that has claimed responsibility for shooting down an airliner with bleeding edge military hardware. As a member of a black-on-black organization, you are tasked with finding the leader and retrieving the weaponry.Alpha Protocol manages to come up with a good and well thought out balance between the action and the RPG halves that it tries to juggle. From word one, you begin to customize your character by what you say and how you act. While most people I’m certain will fall into the ruthless or professional categories, you can pick and choose with a little more degree than that, and nearly every action could have a perk waiting behind it, awarded for playing a certain part. Perks play like in Fallout, though they have far less impact and there are many more of them.Graphics are hit and miss. While the backgrounds and character models are great in some instances, at other times there are glaring clipping errors, and I’ve seen a few moments where my hair is struggling to keep up with the rest of me.Dialogue flows beautifully, and while some of the lines stretch the boundaries, everything manages to snap neatly together. You are borderline forced to follow every conversation line of line, as the dialogue options can’t really be skipped to, and while there are only three options, there are very rare moments when what you mean and what the game decided you meant are completely different, and.

Sure it borrows a few things from the 1st Mass Effect, however they made it thier own. I’m not a fan of the timed response mechanic,I know where they were going with that to make it authentic but I can do without it. The graphics are lacking a little like it was made for ps2 but it was ported to the ps3 for example. I like the story and making allies or foes is a GOOD feature. You can play this over and over again. NEVER PLAY THE SAME GAME TWICE.

First off, this is my very first review here on retrolio, and I chose Alpha Protocol (AP) because it isn’t an easy one to review. The story: The plot, characters, and twists are a lot like a Tom Clancy novel but not nearly as long. Everything is connected. What you do somewhere at one point of time will follow you and affect your interactions and consequences going forward. It’s a great story, well written with all the elements of a techno-thriller.The game play: The game play is like your favorite sports team that always falls short. It has great, truly awesome, potential. Just this side of fully customizable game play and character setup. Do you want to sneak in the shadows and stab people? There’s a setup for that. Do you want to run around shooting everything? There’s a setup for that. Character customization does have a few faults (I hope you like Michael Thorton because he’s it, no femThorton etc). As for the actual game play, not so great. The learning curve is very steep but, once you get on top, the game becomes laughably easy. I chose Hard and a recruit set up (clean slate, build as you go) and built up a Sam Fisher “if you can see me, you are already dead” set up. By the time I got to the 4th total location, I was pistol crit-hit head shooting everyone and their dog without even coming out of cover.Of course, this required me to master the controls. This is a feat worthy of its own achievement (for us xbox users). Controls are only semi intutative but some ways very si.
